The best part is that the most beautiful was yet to come!!! People sit in the audience like mannequins, and in a few years they will be crazy to get a ticket to the concert and move to the beat of the music!

you don't know the crowd was unappreciative. Some cultures don't express emotion the same way and don't show what they are feeling. They applaud loudly after each song.

    • @karenstrycharz1499

Yes, Think in some cultures, as this one, they are raised not to show emotion ( has to be tough for performers but sure they are used to different cultures expressing appreciation in different ways, if somewhat subdued & quiet, like here for instance but they did politely clap!) in same way as Americans do. Great video/blog & just adore her!♥️

So so grateful I got to see her live many times between 1996 and 2010. Every show unique and like a volcano. You knee you were in the presence of a supernova. Never experienced energy and a charisma like it at a concert and I've seen many others. She sparkles like a diamond, even when she's not wearing dazzling dresses. I used to think she was an alien as didn't seem from this world. ❤

Such a time capsule! She had yet to meet and hire Roger, her very gifted manager, and had only been a solo act for a few years. Its interesting watching this, and then seeing how she evolved over time - her look, her moves, her outfits, and overall stagecraft.... not to mention her music. (My guess is Roger convinced her to bag the 'I wanna kill his wife' song! which was wisdom, in my view.)
She's an extraordinary performer, always gives 150% - and I've always felt she was better live, than in the studio. It was as if the studio contained her, leaving us with less than the total package. Put her on stage, and we get the full Tina package!!!
Thank you, dear Tina, for all the years of tremendous shows ...you are appreciated!!

When she did get with Roger, he told her there had to be some changes made.
First was the outfits and 2ndly the band.
She said she agreed and started calling the band to give them the axe.

@@lovinglife69 you’re looking at those changes. She was with Roger here. This “Nice and Rough” show, This tour is when some of the very first changes she made when her and Roger teamed up happened. If you look at later shows, most of these band members were with her through Private Dancer, Break Every Rule and beyond. These dancers even came back for her Foreign Affair tour.

Witnessed eight of her live shows over different decades. Every one of those were absolutely stunning from the very beginning to the end, so dynamic, full of electricity and charisma. The last one was in 2009 when she was nearly 70 years young. Even then she captivated a 40.000 crowd for over two hours with a mindblowing eclectic show spanning over five decades of music and show. She was and still is a very positive, radiant and captivating force of nature

Actually she was working with Roger Davies at this point. He was her manager from 1980 on. He told her get to rid of the long flowing wigs that had been her trademark and get rid of the band in tuxedos. And the two boy dancers. Only LeJuene and Kenny Moore stayed. The cabaret style show was what her friend Ann Margaret set her up with including the Bob Mackie dresses. Tina had bills and lawsuit judgements to pay and the Vegas style show appealed to middle aged people who remembered her from the Ike and Tina days and TV appearances and would come to the smaller venues like hotels and theatres in the midwest. That Vegas style cabaret show can be seen on the video with Tom Jones at the Warner Theater or "wild woman of rock' from the Apollo.. This WAS the new reworked show and what she did up until the album Private Dancer became a hit and gave her a show full of her own material..

In most northern European countries they would have responded like this in the 1980's. People are impressed, in a theater and being filmed. And they are not brought up being loud, singing and dancing in public, unless they are finally drunk in a club or whatever. I imagine if she would have performed in Japan or China she would have gotten the same response. But you can see here, in the audience people are really appreciative, and respond to her well, they're smiling and feeling it all. Check one woman in the front row, smiling all the time and holding her arms. The people are hypnotised and in full focus.

@@netia2 It´s nice you hate audiences like this but I´m sure you didn´t live here (in Czechoslovakia) in the 1980s. Discos were organized by bald-headed grandads who "knew" what the "right" music was, people sat quietly in chairs in a club and listened to a DJ who played "carefully chosen" records, anything from "the West" was considered unwanted and evil by the socialist party leaders. And, suddenly, someone brings Tina Turner to the capital city - of course it caused commotoion but, naturally, at the concert people responded in the way they normally did at the time. There was always a risk you could be dragged out of the club by the security or even secret police if you wanted to stand up, jump, dance or clap your hands - this was not tolerated at the time and people were simply afraid and, in fact, they probably had no idea how to party at concerts (seen from today´s perspective).

This time Tina was performing for a more adult audience, as you can see the men and women were in suits and gowns, especially on Czech Republic this time even in London... Later (about Break Every Rule Tour) her concerts were young people oriented. She changed her clothing and the way she danced in the mid-80's to be more "adequate" to an underage public

those fools, as you say, were not prepared. 1981 in Czechoslovakia was under the communist regime. those people didn't know a proper concert and couldn't even know because they were afraid of stb, find out what that term means. imagine living in Czechoslovakia at this time and you will understand.

Prague in 1981 was in the then communist Czechovslovakia. the crowd being rigid and apparently unappreciative was likely a function of the time. Tina was at her prime, at the top of her craft. they were privileged
