Drawing a few Blobs for Inktober day 11

  • Today I will be sharing with you the complete process for the drawing I made for day 11 of Inktober of 2023. I don't use any drawing prompts any more during this art challenge since during the previous three years I attempted to participate, I ended up dropping out around halfway. So, in this drawing I'm just going to create a few abstract shapes, fill them with some of my favorite patterns, and then fill in the background with one or two simple doodling patterns. As usual, I finish off the drawing with some graphite, just to add some depth. I hope you enjoy this one. It was certainly a lot of work, but it was absolutely worth it.

    Thank you for producing all of your videos. I am currently in Therapy for CPTSD and I use your ideas to reproduce while in group to help keep me calm and participate others while my hands are busy. My doodles are getting better and better everyday and my mind and body is also getting better. I am so glad I found your channel. Your voice and thoughts while producing art is very soothing. My doodles do help me from being in my head and this really does help keep me calm. This type of art is helping my brain and body reprogram and create new pathways to help my brain heal. Thank you so much.

    I find this so interesting in concept. I think that is one of the main things I have been learning from watching your videos. It is to open my mind and allow myself to just be creative without being overly critical of myself.... to not overthink everything. This is the first time that I have done artwork using ink. In the beginning, I started drawing and was nervous the entire time about making a mistake. As I progressed and had done many different pieces of ink art..... I finally had made a major mistake that could not be undone. And it then forced me to find a way to fix it.... so that the whole piece of art would be saved..... but it also made me realize that Perfection is not the goal.... But rather the joy of creating... and sometimes out of an unintended mistake beauty is found❤😊

    About shiny graphite: I use Staedler’s Mars Lumigraph Black graphite pencils for shading ( & drawing) which are very matte. I had a stressful few days so this exercise helped me relax & focus on something else 👍

      I also have the Staedtler Black, as soon as I stumbled across them, I purchased them. Great pencils for reducing graphite shine.

    PENTEL pocket brush pen, has replaceable cartridges that are waterproof so you can use with watercolor or washes. There are also fountain pens with brush tips, that you can refill the chamber and not waste cartridges… Whatever ink you like even water down watercolor. There are lots of options out there but it does take some searching :-)

      Thank you. I've been looking at a lot of pens. They all look good but I'm trying to shop around. I'll take a look at the pentel pen for sure.

    That one that looks like leaves. I have never seen. The third one you done. Will have to try. I can't draw people, monsters. Things like some animals I can draw. Can't really do sceneries. Found Zentangle. And found my thing. Designs can be pretty.

    • @betsi_jae
      @betsi_jae  8 місяців тому

      I'm the same most of the time. Trying to draw characters out animals is complicated and I'd rather draw somewhat abstract forms.

    You asked for recommendations for fountain pens. Take a look at TWSBI Eco. Mine is EF (extra fine) nib. It has a piston built in with a transparent barrel. Unless I've ignored it for months, it starts up juicy immediately every time, which is very important to me. (My Lami pens have been relegated to the back of the drawer because they're nearly always troublesome to get started again.) The EF nib on the TWSBI Eco doesn't flex much, so it's much like pigment liners. I fill mine with Platinum Carbon ink, which is waterproof once dry. Price is around $35.

    Yes, I can see the blue ringed octopus similarity, but my first thought was "doll's eyes" plant (white baneberry.) Maybe I'm just in a spooky mood, so I see loads of tiny eyeballs 😆

    Hi Miss Betsi! Love your channel! Very inspiring. I’m curious, what kind of pencil sharpener are you using to get such an elongated, sharp point?

    • @betsi_jae
      @betsi_jae  3 місяці тому

      I use an artist pencil sharpener, in addition to a few other methods. Here is the link to the one I use:
      AFMAT artist pencil sharpener : amzn.to/3wCF4IB.
      I also made a quick tutorial on how I get my pencils sharp. You can view it here ua-cam.com/video/3a1MCX2S5eI/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps.
