Winding Ribbon Doodles | draw with me

- In this video I re-address one of my favorite doodling patterns, which I tend to think of as ribbons. Since I noticed that there were a few channel subscribers who still wanted a little help drawing this design, I decided to create another tutorial in order to clarify the method to creating these ribbons. I also address how I accomplish the shading. Feel free to use this design in your drawings. Please enjoy =)

I don't know anyone who can explain better or implement it worse than me... aaahrgggg
I'll make it! Thanks for showing this beautiful pattern.
💙😂
I understand that you had to really think about how to make your presentation so that you could get the best possible results in getting the point across. You are a great instructor, you were exceptional in getting a difficult point understood by all of us very quickly, like one of the comments said, it all just “clicked”. Thank you 🙏🏼 ♥️
I appreciate that! 💕💜💕 It can take time to figure out a novel solution to a problem. Just a little tweak can make all the difference, but the mind needs time to synthesize the concept.
I have to tell you I fell in love with zentangle years ago when they offered free classes at my local library but fell away over time, but when i came across your videos, you've sparked my inspiration. You make it look so easy and its truly an art form for people who can't draw conventionally.
That is awesome! Thank you💙
Thank you so much! I will not give up. You are so generous with your time and talent. It's beautiful!
You are so welcome!
Amazing my friend 💕💕💕💕💕
I'm glad you like it
I failed many times at this pattern. Actually, this is the only pattern I have ever failed so completely at, so thank you for a third try!
Thanks so much betsi for your clear and patient instructions. This style of drawing is really helping me with resetting my nervous system right now 😂
Thank you for coming back to this lovely ribbon pattern! This helps! ❤❤❤
Once you got it, your got it and I GOT IT! I practiced and now I only need the curvy line to guide me and I am able to create the ribbon, starting on both sides! This really really helped me. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! It was a small change, but sometimes that’s all it takes.💕
This video really helped me! You are such a great teacher. Your tutorials are great!!!
You're very welcome!
That technique is so much easier to understand than your previous video, so THANKS!
I absolutely love this ❤
Excellent instruction. Perfect balance of dialogue and demonstration. Thank you so much and very well done!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This explanation really worked for me. Thank you so much. I love this design, and I'm excited about being able to do it.
Wonderful! I hope the added step helps .
It's just great, but lost, I need to practice a lot. Thank you
Love this drawing. Thank you!
I'm glad you like it
Thank you for this. My brain couldn’t wrap around the original way you did it. It’s a cool and fun element.
You’re very much welcome. i hope this was helpful.
Betsi I’m still a little confused when I try on my own but you are an excellent teacher and I really appreciate your 2nd video on this beautiful pattern! It is just one pattern that is going to take some practice! (Like everything else in life)😅
Absolutely, sometimes the truth is that we need to rewire our brain when it comes to learning certain things. Only through practice can that be achieved. I wish you the best 💕 and keep on practicing.
Simple ,a sort of elegance. Lovely
Thank you! 😊
I’d also like to add my thanks for a very enjoyable tutorial. I’m a little bit late but don’t think that will matter. I thought the pace of the lesson was just right. You took the time to explain the finer details which gave the chance to learn much more than usual. I’ll certainly be watching and drawing next time. Thanks
I'm so glad you're finding it useful 🙂. I appreciate the feedback as well . Cheers!
Marvellous tutorial with straightforward commentary. Many thanks 🙏
Thank you for all your video instructions. All my life I've thought I had no talent in drawing. I have a very structured mind. I am a research scientist and a mathematician. Now I only teach math in a College.
The way you describe your drawing processes and showing make so much sense to me. You make things so easy.
Now I am impressing people with my drawings.
That's so wonderful! I'm glad I'm able to share the process in a way that makes sense. Those years I studied math to earn my degree I managed to understand some difficult concepts because I was able to visualize the structures. I'm convinced there is art in math, and vice versa. I'm glad you're exploring your creativity and enjoying the process☺️.
When you look at the things we can create by using fractals, and look at the nature with the perfect ratio. The patterns of flowers and other plants can be deciphered with math. People don't realize that math is the language of the nature. My husband is an electronics engineer. He is analog engineer. He is not very good with math in general. How ever, topology is very important in his work. And he has no problem with that. Multi layers, cris-crosing, each other without any conductive lines touching each other. It is fascinating how his minds works.
Creative part is that how to put all these on a two dimensional paper.
Your instructions were soooooo good. I was able to create this spiral design first time I tried. This New follower is very grateful
Thank you sooo much , now I know how to create ribbons lines , you made my day 😊❤️ love your art. ❤
Great addition to explanation of this pattern Betsi. Really helps. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
thank you. I was giving up on this design because it was a mess every time. This was a good video. I will try it again.
You can do it!
Спасибо за этот прекрасный элемент! Я никак не могла понять как это делается. Теперь буду смотреть и повторять за вами!❤
Another great inspiring video🎉 Love your channel...
Thank you so much!
That is so cool. Definitely going to try it
Have fun!
Love your videos! Thank you ❤
Glad you like them!
Thank you, now I understand it better.
Glad it helped!
I just found your channel. I am a novice as an artist goes. But when I get in a mood I can draw realistic type and doodle art pieces. My sister said I'm a pro, lol. but...I can only draw perfect when I feel inspired, which isn't often, lol. Thanks for posting, it is most enjoyable.
Wonderful!
Amazing
This is a prime example of "when it finally clicks, it clicks!"..HAHA SOO pretty!
Exactly what I thought when I watched it! Betsi makes it look so easy and she makes me think I can do it to! Lol! I’m gonna try it 👍🏼
HAHAHA...live and learn!@@beatrizaguillon1596
Excellent! I’m so glad it helped 😊
Beautiful artwork; thank you!
This is so simple for me. Love watching you work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you! I was struggling with this and I think I have it down now!
Excellent!
Hi Betsi, I wanted to share some of my felting work I plan to sell as a gift set along with a similar themed piece of art. You have taught me so much and I graciously thank you for that. The universe gives abundantly 🤓. I’m not sure how to send a jog but I’ll figure something out :-)
That's so wonderful that you're making fun creative things. My links are all provided in the description of every video.
Hello friends i enjoyed watching this lovely patterns, 19huge liked
This is such a cool design. Thank you very much for your clear and detailed explanation!
Glad you like it!
Shading heaven, thanks Betsi! 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks !! This was a helpful tutorial - it clicked this time😊 I really enjoy all your videos.
I'm so glad!
I enjoy watching your videos and you such a great job explaining. Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Yay- I love this pattern
It's definitely one of my faves!
Ty for this video! You were patient and it was a bit towards the end, but I got it. This ties back to something I was trying to grasp yrs ago, I’m most grateful and a tad excited lol. I’ll be watching more of your videos for sure 🌻
Excellent! Sometimes it just takes one more little piece to help it click.
@@betsi_jaedefinitely agree. You’re excellent tutorial was the way it finally took 👏
I like these curved lines. I'm gonna give it a try this weekend. Thanks for sharing your lovely work of art in all these great vids.
My pleasure 😊
Seus desenhos são lindos 😍😍😍 já deixei o like 👍👏❤
Mui lindo Jae ❤
Thank you 💕
Thank you for this!. I will be drawing this in my art journal this afternoon! Cheers
Wonderful! Hope you enjoy it 😊
Thank you
Awesome, now will start watching.
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks a lot, it was much easier to grab the idea of the pattern this way. The shading though is another tough part. Without understanding it plainly the pattern doesn't show. Could you make a 3rd part just for that part of the process explaining how we get there by our own. There must be some basic rules?
Actually I started to fill in each block and it seems to work pretty well. This video was indeed extremely useful! Thanks again.
Hi everyone, I love all your patterns ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Grâce à toi, je comprends mieux comment réaliser ce motif. Il me reste à pratiquer sauf que maintenant je serai guidée. Merci 🙏, de cet enseignement.
I’m glad it helped ☺️
Hello happy weekend thank you so much
Thank you too💕
I would like to hit “like” about ten times, but UA-cam won’t let me! Thanks so much for this slightly different technique!
Awesome! Thank you! 🦋😄🦋
Это пожалуй один из сложных элементов для меня. Хочется рисовать просто и без карандаша.. Спасибо.
That's understandable. It's okay to use a pencil though. 💕🌸✍️
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for explaining this so well.
Question:
On the finished picture is the main point in one corner, rather than the center of the picture?
If you're referring to the drawing done in purple/violet colored pencil: yes! The point is in the corner rather than the center. 😊
And hello everyone
I love your tutorials. Regarding this design, do you have a video showing the shading more in detail? and if possible, the pencil shading version as well?
I'm having trouble figuring out the shading when moving from one "fold" to the other.
Not yet, but I’ll try to include it the next time I use this design in a drawing.
Thanks! can't wait for it. @@betsi_jae
Hi Betsi! Thanks again for another “how to” video. By the way, I followed the link to Amazon to get the rollerball pens….I didn’t realize it til now when I went again to double check…..the link for the 30 pens is a fine point 0.5…..it looks like the point you are using is thicker…..so I now have 30 fine point rollerball pens. Is that right? And I ordered another 30 set where 15 are blue, and 15 are black……and again they are the 0.5 fine tip. Can you please tell me what tip the black is that you used? I’m really thinking about returning all of them. Thanks so much for all of your help!
The rollerball pens are a 0.5 size. The blue one I used here is one of these 0.5 rollerball pens. The finer pen is a 0.1 Pentel pointliner.
Ok….thanks so much for clarifying that for me. Your lines with 0.5 look so much thicker than my 0.5 lines…..I really appreciate the quick response. I did draw this tonight, minus the last 2 that you drew….I’m pretty pleased with how they came out for my first time actually drawing instead of just watching. I came across a math kit in Walgreens last night. It has a 2 compasses, a pencil, 3 short pieces of lead about a 1/2” length, an eraser, a small protractor, 2 different triangle pieces, a short, smaller ruler, and a pencil sharpener. All in a nice case that clips shut. It was less than $7.00.
@@robingoff677 The line also depends on the paper you draw on..
I like your designs, have you tried scratch art? Many of these designs will translate using that method.
Yes I have, but a very very very long time ago . It might be fun to try that again someday =)
