This video has an unusual structure. If you're an ENTP (for example) then there are many parts in the video to watch (ENFP, INTP, ESTJ... i.e. types I think that mistyped ENTPs might be instead). So yes, this video was partially constructed as a devious plan to increase the watch time ~ Nathan

I'm an *ISFP* who had the mistype of *INTP*
    1) because when I was younger I was "logical", enjoyed various sciences and google researched topics I found fun! "Ti" stereotype. I knew lots of random fun facts (/passion in science) ≠ Ti.
    2) AND I was "creative", goofy, off the wall crazy "Ne". Somewhat chaotic ≠ Ne.
    i. I used to actively seek and indulge in philosophical discussions ≠ xNxx
ii. Enjoying fantasy realms ≠ xNxx
    3) I was kind of cold and acted robotic, I answered literally in an unhealthy detached from emotion manner. Not knowing how to respond to emotional people and purposely shutting off emotion as a defensive reaction ≠ inferior Fe.
I've learnt better and I am more self aware, I am an ISFP in a more mentally healthy position.

I'm an ISFP that had been mistyped by a notorious online test as an INFJ for many years and I had no idea about online tests mistyping people until I checked into MBTI communities.
It was at that moment when I realized there's huge intuitive bias, which is also encouraged by demonstration of stereotypes through videos that do not address cognitive functions and would only show some traits without explanations (which had made me believe for a long time I was INFJ) and the belief that Intuitives are stronger/better than Sensors (!).
The bias is so strong in favor of INFJ that there are a lot more videos around here that highlight that type and make it look special ("here's the rarest MBTI type!" claims), powerful and trendy!
Even right after taking the Mistype Generator test which showed me ISFP result, I would briefly deny I was a Sensor at first, until the time I started studying the cognitive functions, reading the 4 main functions of ISFP and getting to understand more traits which I relate to much more.
I got surprised at you not referring to INFJ as one of ISFP's common mistypes, since I've met other ISFPs that had got mistyped as INFJs as well and watched other vids (eg a Joyce Meng's vid) in which they addressed that mistype happening, probably due to Fi-Se combo giving Fe vibes to some people often with the Ni pulling the strings in some moments.

    • @solarisan_
      @solarisan_ Рік тому +13

If only those videos were true... Unfortunately, most are not. I have had a conversation with another infj and I told her: isfps are an unleashed version of an Infj. And she agreed. I think it is precisely due to Ni and Se. When they are far apart, one becomes aware of it quickly and has the need to keep them under control (of a sort). But because Isfps have them in the middle of the stack, it allows them to be super demonstrative and free in using them. I have noticed that people often mistype even fictional characters who are Infj as Isfp because they come across as rebellious, artistic and can throw a punch and people see Infjs as clam, collected and in control. These differences are all about perception and how it can deceive people when making a decision. I actually know myself to be rebellious, impatient and stubborn so a lot of the descriptions I have read on my type don’t even match me.

      Hmm...
No doubt about what notorious site was.
But for the other one, was it actually named Mistyped Investor?
I just tried it, and unfortunately, it actually mistyped me (it was the SECOND test out all tests done in different stages of life that mistyped me). I'm too obviously an Si dom thinking type (therefore, only possible outcome would be ISTJ with ZERO possibility to be mistyped). However, it actually typed me as an ISTP. My Si is undoubtedly strongest and most preferenced function. Yet it was giving me Ti > Se > Te > Si > Ne > Fi > Ni > Fe (ok, I probably have actual higher preference to Ti than Te, but high Se??)
Reason? I think the questions are heavily inclined to judging functions, followed by both Ne/Ni and Se. I failed to see anything measuring pure Si (if there were anything, they are mostly attached to judging functions). If tracking my own memory like a video tape in attempt of looking for lost items since I was a kid, and the utter inability to function in a new environment before I developed a (very) solid database, I dunno what other function it could possibly be lol. And the last time I check, I barely pay attention to my surroundings (with the sole exception of working my job in a small unit, but it was 100% trained behaviour, unless I was dumb enough risk getting warnings? 🤣), or indulging in sensory enjoyment in general (I hate getting even moderate sunbath, I even get tired of listening to songs all the time. Unless getting sensory overloaded easily and binch watching Dr. G could be considered "getting in touch to Se" 😑)...

INFPs can also often get mistyped, especially by other people, as INFJs or ISFJs, largely due to misconceptions around Fi and how often Fi users who are more warm/kind/altruistic than expected get taken for Fe users (I've likewise seen people mistype ENFPs as ESFJs a number of times).
We can also have the psychological/philosophical sorts of inclinations that people sometimes overassociate with INFJs. And we can use logic a lot more than commonly assumed, which contributes to both these mistypes and INTP ones.

ISTPs can also easily mistype as INTJ:
    - through online tests (especially 16personalities): questions regarding planning, being organized and having routines lead to a J result + the general intuitive bias
    - by overestimating the prevalence of Ni
    - by relating to the INTJ type descriptions and stereotypes
My first 16personalities results fluctuated between INTP and INTJ. Once I learned about the cognitive functions I knew that I have Ti and Ni, the rest followed soon after.
Now I can't imagine being an INTJ any longer, we are just too different. Even though I like my Ni I wouldn't want to have it at the top of my stack and I much prefer Ti oder Te.

But when I was younger I was more tactless and unaware of what is socially acceptable and what is not. I would often say things that came out offensive even if I didn't mean to. And in class I would burst into laughter if one of my classmates blurted out the wrong answer. I didn't mean to laugh at them, I was just amused by some answers which were far off from the correct one. I didn't realise that this was rude until later in my teens. INTP functions are upside down from ESFJ. When an INTP learns to strengthen the Fe muscle, we can behave much more like an ESFJ but we are innately introverts so ISFJ sounds like it would be a closer fit. However, INTP have Ni critic which can seem more like Ni trickster at times. INTP have Ti at the top of our stack which means Te is close at hand in the (ENTJ) shadow so Te trickster like behavior isn't exactly best fit for our behavior.

I am an ENTP who often gets mistyped as ESFP or ENFP, and I've seen this happen very often with other female ENTPs. Because it's not exactly socially acceptable for women to be as coldly analytical as Thinking types sometimes are, many female ENTPs play up their Fe function massively. I've never once met an accurately typed female ENTP. One of my close friends was also typed as ENTP (he's president of the national debate team - how fitting) but he is actually ENTJ and the perfect image of an Enneagram 3. He was typed as ENTP by people because he likes to debate and argue, based off the very shallow understanding that "ENTPs' defining feature is debating". However, spend just a little time with him and it's obvious that he's not ENTP: he has a strict schedule which he keeps to and always finishes his numerous projects weeks before their deadlines, and is immensely successful due to his great ambition and work ethic. He's very much focused on maintaining his personal appearance and workspace (Se) and has a very strong moral compass (Fi).

So for one thing ENTP is I believe the second rare female type. I have known about MBTI for 25 years and never met another female ENTP so far. I haven’t even met another one I suspected of being ENTP. So it surprises me that other people can have such large sample sizes to have opinions about how these things differ between genders. I just cannot understand how you all are meeting each other in such large numbers I suppose it seems statistically unlikely.
Also possibly unlikely but that’s one reason that I find this framework somewhat helpful is that I have never mistyped as any of these types. Always got ENTP even when I tried to push the limits of it over all those years. From my teens all the way to 40. I think this video did a good cover of main mistypes. I can’t fathom ever coming out a sensor let alone ESFP and I was married to one of those lol never could confuse myself nor would anyone who knows me. I personally sometimes relate more to an INTP but that’s common. I think if one is confused between ENTP and ENFP they’re almost certainly the latter. I’d be really odd for Ti person to think they’re actually a Te person but some Te person can mistake themselves for Ti. Anyway overall I feel like some of these ENTPs are actually mistyPed.

Also I did realise it wasn’t socially acceptable for women to be Ti heavy. I just didn’t really give it a damn. Developmentally in ENTP Fe comes later. Children get such messages from society at a much earlier age than you might think. Most ENTP if using much of their Fe, are not really proficient at it yet. Driven by Ne and developing Ti, the normal path for these girls is to Take the consequences of not being gender conforming rather than conforming. This is literally the least conforming type. I deliberately hang out with a select group of friends who share the same nerdy interests as me, avoiding archetypical social activities. Many others describe me as extraverted due to the fact that I can match others' energy with ease (especially during classes where interaction is forced such as P.E.). Others describe me as a complete introvert as the stimuli around me does not interest me as much as the task I am given at hand (e.g, Computer Science class). My energy levels depend on the environment ,although I default to being an introvert at home. Kind of like going to sleep or taking a shower, the anticipation of social interactions wards me off until I am inevitably forced to which I enjoy for the duration.
Any idea how to type me? I have not taken any reputable tests although on a certain site I scored ENTP (somewhere around 50-60% extraverted), then two years later INTP (66% Introverted)

The way you described it is exactly the way I struggle to type myself. An ENFP here! Sometimes I'm wondering if I'm actually an INFP, because even after understanding cognitive functions, most of my test results will still get confused due to my high Fi. But one big difference is, like you said, is how different my pacing is compared to INFPs. I tend to start on project quick, whether I finished or not, whether it's sloppy or polished, I'd move on to the next thing. My INFP friends usually tend to take their time idealizing and arranging their thoughts before actually doing the work. I always feel the need to slow down and match our paces, but when I can get my draft done the next day it's hard to tone down my excitement, our way of doing things might be similar but our pace is so different. Sometimes the INFP has a lot of ideas but they don't vocalize it because they haven't figure it out completely, I guess it's because their Si is higher so they have better attention to details. Since my Si is lower, I need to revise my works several times because finishing quick doesn't equal to finishing good.....
When I'm tired I'll think of possibility of me being ESTJ, but then I remember how much I value my personal opinion over what's convenient just.. threw the possibility down the drain lol
When I'm even crazier I'll think of possibility of me being INTJ just because Te-Fi axis, and even crazier that I consider INTJ more than ENTP because I know for sure I'm short for Fe.

as an INFP with an ENFP bff, the biggest and clearest difference i noticed between the two types is how we approach relationships/dating/etc. ENFPs enjoy dating and just "experiencing" new people and dont really look for lasting relationships while we INFPs dont really like it at all, and we'd just wish that the perfect partner would fall from the sky and then proceed to a life-long relationship. i think that has both to do with us wanting a deep and personal connection with our Fi and a stable, long term relationship with Si, while ENFPs enjoy much more the thrill of new experiances through their Ne, while struggling with the Si-stability.
Also, in my case, i really notice how i love the whole exploring side of Ne, but i'd really enjoy sharing those adventures with a single person, so Fi clearly having the lead over Ne; while for ENFPs, they consider their Fi values as a framework of how they want to express their Ne imagination.
Also, only an ENFP would struggle so hard to decide on what they'd type as, since they're looking at all the possibilities and all the ways how they could be every type while also enjoying feeling like one type one day and then like another the next day 😉

My INFP friend tend to have crush more often than I do even if they wouldn't date just because of a simple crush. Meanwhile I almost never have crush, quite hard to impress, easy to nitpick, fiction rarely satisfies me so I create my own fictional character to cater to my specific taste. To me relationship is a serious thing, I would only date someone I'd marry so casual romance isn't a choice, while to my friend, romance is one of the essential criteria for relationship and even failed relationship can become a learning experience.
TLDR: I think for relationships, it varies depending on where our Fi lead us, since value is personal for us Fi-users. I think if I were to ask 10 INFPs and 10 ENFPs I might get 20 different answers. After all, the decision making function is Fi-Te and not Ne.

The way i see it, it would suffice to fit just a tad bit over 50% of the traits embodied in one type, so long as you don't see even higher compatibility numbers in other types, to finally identify where your type lies. It doesn't matter if only like 55% of your said type fits & everything else is somewhere else. Typology ain't meant for putting people in neat little boxes after all, & people having traits uncharacteristic of their types are everywhere. I collect data (both in my role as a chemist and in life) then go with the option that "feels" the best. As I got older, I had more data collected and learned to trust that "feeling" part as it seemed to often be correct. Hit a pivotal time in my life where several people told me that I shouldn't speak so freely with coworkers regarding patentable ideas and shouldn't be putting the team's/other's goals above my own. Hmmm...several people I respected so I followed their advice.
Ouch! My productivity and happiness at work plummeted. Yup. I needed to not only include helping others in my work but to also allow my brain to work a bit less linearly. Lately I have been testing online as ENFJ. I recognize the importance of working on being socially extroverted, especially as I get older.
I had a coworker who acted more extraverted than me and they made a good point. If you have to work at being socially extroverted then...you likely aren't naturally that way. I definitely enjoy my alone time and prefer interacting with people in regularly visited venues and more one-on-one.
A key thing (in my mind) that is important to remember with typology and other tools used for improved mental health is that even if the chosen type/treatment isn't absolutely perfect/accurate, if it is useful then it is worthwhile.

There's actually a very easy way to tell if you're an INTj in terms of socionics ILI
INTJs are into their heads and Ni doms often are people who aren't present, but wish they were more aware of the things going around them(Se inferior)
Fi(isfp) however wish they were more dominant and take control of things (inferior Te)
The difference I think alot of people have problems realizing is a thinking vs feeling function. Thinkers NT/ST think in terms of logical frames then try to explain their feelings
Feelers NF/SF feel strongly about certain things, then try to logical justify them.
Your dominant function is one you're conscious of. It doesn't mean an ISFJ/ISFP is illogical it means they tend to orient their thoughts to people first, then use their logical functions as a guide. It means they can be logical as well, just that under *certain* situations, they end up becoming "illogical" because they justify all their actions albeit logical steps, on the basis on an emotional idea.
The idea is that you want to bring out your weaker functions, that's why a really healthy individual seems to have both working functions. An INTP could be an amazing teacher with good use of Fe, however it isn't natural to them and they have to consciously use it.
That's how i figured out I was an INTP at least. I liked to learn but found out that teaching/informing others was something I could actually do because I could relate to their ideas, however it wasn't something that drove me to action, more like something I could do but isn't instinctual

One of the things that often frustrates me about the perception of Fe inf vs Fe aux users is that Fe inf are HORRIBLE at Fe, which has not been the case with the Fe inf users I have come across (those users were also all women, which goes to demonstrate how that difference in socialization can show itself - I sincerely doubt it would be as hard to clock a male INTP my age). The INTPs I come across tend to be more concerned with Fe values than some other types, it’s aspirational, so they tend to take MORE care in unfamiliar situations. Whereas INFJs can be good at navigating requirements needing Fe, but it can still be a little awkward and embarrassing, particularly if they’re not in the mindset for it (or there’s too much Ni or Se happening in or around them). -INFJ

I am an INTP but have mistyped myself as INFJ and INTJ in the past as well as thought sometimes that I might be INFP, so it's interesting to see that you list all these 3 types as likely mistype for my type. it's only through reading on my type and watching countless vids on YT that I am now confident that I am indeed an INTP (notwithstanding the many times this was the outcome of the test)

When I took the test for the very first time, I got INFP. My I and N were very high, while my T/F and P/J were nearly 50/50. I took several more tests from different places and the types that I got were exactly the ones you listed. Despite the various tests I knew I was definitely a P, because I’ve even given my ESFP sister a complex about being late places because of my horrible time management (also I’m messy to the point I should be ashamed). I figured out eventually I was definitely a thinking type for the normal reasons, I am very out of touch with my emotions and all they do is stress me out so I just ignore them. And of course always weighing my options when I make decisions, and not just doing something because I feel like it. So yep, INTP.
This is neither here nor there, but I also had a hard time at the beginning because a lot of skits about INTP tend to be about younger ones or guys, so I didn’t relate.

I prefer ENTP although I have always scored as someone who prefers INTP. (Strictly speaking we should be describing people as “preferring” a type rather than “being” a type.) Because I am highly organised in the workplace, I’m often typed by others as ENTJ, and because I’m empathetic and very supportive of others in my personal life, I am often seen as an ENFP. I am definitely an ENTP. I’m accredited in MBTI and find the online assessments beyond frustrating. A friend’s daughter has just completed an online assessment and agrees with the result of ISFJ, as she thinks she has changed over time and is likely to change. 🤦🏼‍♀️ The MBTI is about PREFERENCES, not behaviour. I’ve known her since she was a child, and would bet my last $50 on her preferring INTJ. Did I say, she’s just qualified as a surgeon?

11:27 I am so glad you said this, because although I've thought of myself as an INTJ for as long as I've been into typology, I have more recently felt as if my Si and Ni are as dominant as each other and that my Ne and Se both tend to come out more under stress. I can also relate to almost as many ISTJs in fiction as I can INTJs. Right now the main reason I'm still convinced I'm an INTJ is because I do feel like I spend more time in my own head thinking about future goals or events that may or may not happen than being in the present moment. Many people think I'm an INFJ so maybe they do detect Ni from me.

I think a good way to tell your type is what you generally want out of conversations with other people. I sometimes wonder if I'm really an INTJ (mainly bc bursts of unhealthy Fi/Se) but then I remember how my goal in most conversations is almost always to get to some practical, all encompassing point/solution as fast as possible. I want that one, perfectly narrowed down goal in mind (Ni) and then I want an efficient, common sense way to get to it (Te). This comes out a lot when I'm trying to talk ideas with my INFP boyfriend and he's constantly like "I don't know" "it depends" "all those options sound good to me" "I don't think there's one right answer" "just do what feels good", etc. while sensor types usually have absolutely no interest in the topics I care about since it's all abstract woo-woo shit, and Fe types just want me to smile more and ask them how their day is going or whatever lol.
TL;DR : compare yourself to other people you know very well and you'll spot the differences in cognitive functions pretty quickly

    • @_leWanderer
      @_leWanderer Рік тому

It truly is a lot easier to tell when they take the test and you know their results. Since I really had only studied INTP, INTJ, INFP and INFJ types, I don't really know much beyond that scope. But once you know and you're able to get a steady flow of conversation in a range of topics with these types, you'll realise if the results are correct.
The part about the INFP part is always too true. They don't really have a specified thing, oftentimes relying on people's inputs. You can't force them to give an opinion, even if you tried. It's really annoying. However, get them to spill about their favourite things and wow they simply do not stop. The way they start talking too. xD
As for an INTP, they have a direct way of talking, with pieces of humour to grasp a somewhat normal conversation. They like to be direct and usually have a goal in mind - though they do get distracted in nooks and crannies of the excess bits of information.
Compared to the above, those traits are unlike an INTJ. An INTJ would be more or less intense with conversations. A healthy INTJ know how to steer it in the right directions, that even if it was small talk, definitely with something mindful part of it. They're also excellent listeners, being able to connect branches of information and refer to them rather accurately. It's sad how the media always makes them out to be villains when really, they're just very intelligent in their own special way. :)
As for INFJ, they're normally reserved but once you warm them up, they can continue conversations like nothing. Their introvertedness usually shows through with closer friends, seeing that when they get along with coworkers like they've been friends for long. But one shouldn't expect an INFJ to start a conversation unless they absolutely have to. Even if you were friends with them. They are, in fact, a perfectly delightful company. Just don't expect them to continue the chats you both left off.
I could go on about extroverts if anyone wishes for it but this is as much as I'd like to elaborate for now since I believe I've stretched out my reply a little too long.

The goal of conversation initiation is a good one. For me it's two scenarios. I need information or have to share information for a work reason or I found something funny or interesting that I know a friend would be interested in seeing.
Not once would I ever want to start talking to someone as a hi, how are you? Type of thing. I'll respond to it or if I'm in the mood, engage in small talk AFTER they have given me the info I need.
Maybe once a month, that small talk goes into an intense deep dive into what makes them tick or my thoughts on the human condition, and then I'll go back to treating them like an acquaintance. -INFJ

Soooo I took the test and it said infp. And I didn't want to just taking some test and then having an answer - the end, that's not really how human nature and emotions and stuff work I think. So I send out this test to about 15 people I know who might take it and be adverse enough from each other but with similar hobbies and so. And as I suspected many got similar results even though by knowing them well and my history interacting with them asking weird questions and stuff, I know they have super different reasons and motivations but STILL got the same mbti. So I went to look into the cognitive functions. It took a year to find it all out and get a good look at things cause I jump to other things or get sidetracked. then the more I learned the more I've could have been anything, and weighing in the stress and stuff I had i just wasn't to sure. I asked friends and family how they would describe me but it usually just ended with me anti-narowing it down @_@ finally i just really sat down here and there to read everything and how stress effects the types, what it all is, how I instincty take in what I precieve as reality, why, and a lot of remembering how I was as a child before developing and learning from invioroment, experiences people emotions and everything really.
I always knew I used a ton of ne and to but I don't know, maybe that's just how I perceived it and I know how important it is to me that others are well and feel valued and loved but then I would never lie or distort facts to save others the awkwardness because theough ignorance (even being blissful) you can not become truely happy or find yourself.
People always assumed me to be a enfp because I am quirky and stuff. I assumed I was introverted because I'm shy and being around large groups where none listens and people talk over each other and cross tables exhausts me.

When I first typed as anything, it was back in my early 20s, and the first type I received from an online test was ISFJ. Then were several other types I got. Now, nearly a decade later, I am XNTJ. I say 'X' because of the fact that, through working out my issues and analyzing aspects of my life on my own, which is an ongoing process, I am still unsure if I am, as Nathan put it, a more aggressive INTJ, or a more introspective ENTJ. now, that i've watched quite a few 16p videos, i see that isfps are much more zealous when it comes to standing out and being totally unique. i, an infp, understand that, but i personally don't have this much desire to do stuff that makes me unique (in a kind of demonstrative way, so that every living being that knows me realizes how unique i am)

    INFJ mistyped as ENFP.
My journey to discover my true type lasted 2 years. A lot of factors that made me believe i was an ENFP were actually traits of the other aspects of my typology.
Even when i got deep into functions, it was still troublesome, as i discovered that i had ni equally as strong as ne.
Let's first get into the stereotypes.
Enfps are mainly portrayed as goofy, childlike airheads with a heart of gold. Any type can have those traits, but 16p made it seem like ENFP-exclusive characteristics. Also, the INFJ stereotypes, that they're very introverted and an emotional wall, which doesn't apply to me at all. To understand my surface-level traits, i learned Big 5, which was SCOAI and had nothing to do with cognitive functions.
Then, surface-level descriptions of cognitive functions. I believed that ne = different points of view, making one data expand to very different conclusions. While it's somewhat correct and a great definition for beginners, in the long run it lacks important details.
My ne is very strong, but i started questioning my type as soon as I researched fi, te, si. Fi definitions are usually the most simplified, reduced to archetype ones. It's a lot more that being "in tune with your emotions and having preferences". While i related to having a strong moral code from within, Fe was speaking to me more. This was like a year and a half ago, when i started claiming myself as an infj.
A lot of my "enfp-ness" came from my big 5 and enneagram. My enneagram is 9w1 so/sx, and I'd like to share my struggles with researching my enneagram too.
    I always thought I'm a 2.
Nines are ALWAYS portrayed as passive, while I'm not afraid to speak up. While some nines can be passive (sp, sx) social nines are often overlooked. If anyone struggles with finding their enneagram, I'd recommend looking up instinctual variants.
That's it, thank you for reading. Also, question. Can your tritype change? I used to think i was a 925 but recently I've faced a new trauma and developed a strong 7 fix, even 972. Is that possible?

I'm now pretty much an INFP meme now but back when I was younger, still in school, because I study STEM, I have such a Ti bias that I constantly tested myself to be INTP. Being very young, influenced by my surrounding that logical and rationality is good, emotion is bad, didn't help at all. It was only when I become older and had more time to myself that I really see my Fi unfurl in it's Fi-ness and stop putting on the Ti mask.

I have an interesting one; I don't know if I'm a mistyped ESTP or ISFJ. This is probably due to not being able to understand the difference between Si and Se, and individually speaking for the cognitive functions, I think I can relate to that of the structure of Se, Ti and Fe of an ESTP. However, I can't relate to the Se-Ni partnership - I really can't relate to Ni at all, and I think it's because of Ni that I can't relate to the overall result of what's expected of an ESTP.
Now, for ISFJs, I personally don't think my Fe should be that high and that I might not have that much Si, but I consider it a possibility due to being one of the only sensing types that doesn't have that high of an Fe or Te. And I could also just be underrating my Fe and favoring Ti over it. Generally speaking, I also relate to the stereotypes of an ISFJ.

I remember finding the 16 personalities quiz once while roaming around the interner for a while, and I am now very investend into this. I do not know a whole bunch about the whole specteum but I would like to know more since it is very fascinating.
At first when I took the quiz I got INTP, but when I did it again I got ISTP, and to make sure what I was 100% I got INTP again. Which is funny how he mentions that these two personality types often get mixed matched and confused

As an ISTP with an ISFP partner, on the surface we look extremely similar. However, when we're struggling we act very differently. I come out swinging with blunt force emotion, whereas he becomes incredibly shrewd. Meanwhile, our INTP kid is rolling their eyes at both of us lol. As we've matured we've become better at circumventing those impulses though, which in turn has helped us develop our weaker functions in a healthier way.

I do wonder about the role being a member of a nondominant group in society plays in mistyping. For example, I've seen a disproportionate amount of ISFJs and ESFJs mistype as INFJs and ENFJs respectively because they have less connection to "tradition" and past behavior for guidance due to trauma they might have experienced due to that marginalization. Due to this marginalization, they might feel "other" and might confuse that for being different due to personality, when their personality type might be very common, it is just their ethnic, racial, or gendered otherness that makes them feel uncommon.

ENTP INFJ are also very mistyped
As an infj when my Ti overwrites my Fe which often happens bcz i am infj 5w4. Then i kinda may be percived as ENTP . This Ti also make my Ni look like more Ne for some situation.

I have typed as INFJ the first time I took a test, that one was socionics and then took several mbti tests showing me other results. However, when I started checking the functions I confirmed for myself that the first result is most likely correct.

Another perspective here, in my experience of being an INFP (or so I think) that used to think I was ISFP,
I believed that and kept getting that result not because I was any kind of active doer/go-getter, but because I didn't value intuituon.
I was (am) very annoyed by and usually ignored people stating intuition based affirmations unless they offered factual back up or stated that what they said was just an opinion/thought of theirs (or we were just talking about an imaginative scenario)

    • @monito3575
      @monito3575 Рік тому

I relate to that. Sometimes my intuition warns me about people not being honest or that I should keep a distance to them but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt until something concrete happens. Imo it is a very bad character trait to assume evil without any proof (provided you're not putting yourself in danger of course). Often my initial intuition was right tho
Ah and I also get ISFP sometimes but I think I am INFP (,I constantly doubt it, maybe I have strong Fe...)

As an INFP I've been mistyping myself a lot, because I've been influenced by others. Their opinion and outlooks kind of became mine too, because I didn't realize that I have a different personality.

I would think that ESTP could be mis typed as INFJ and vice versa, since they have inverted functions with ENFJ. Like Angelina Jolie. Some think she is INFJ because she is reserved and concerned with values, and some consider her ESTP because she is different, tough, and a wildcard

I am an ISTP and was mistyped NOT as an INTP, but as INTJ, INFJ, ISFJ, and ISTJ. It was until I learned Socionics (a different system) that I came to know that the functions of ISTP make more sense with how I think and operate than how the tests typed me. I would have never considered ISTP until I actually studied the functions AND I have never gotten ISTP as my result on different tests even! I was on a limbo between INTJ vs INFJ and now it makes sense why none of the two sat right with me. I just knew I use Ti and Fe, which made INFJ more viable. Bottomline, when I learned about ISTPs, we actually share the same functions with INFJ, just different stacking!

Thank you very much for this video. Especially talking about cognitive functions that work internally but outward behavioural traits that are major reasons for the mistypes and biases. I used to think Dr House is INTP because he sees so many possibilities while solving a problem. But now that I think, his character probably is ENTP. He is labelled mostly everywhere as INTJ, but I could never make sense of it. Me, As an INTP, I also identify with ENTP as I work on my functions and external environment. Sometimes my aux Ne goes insane. One thing I have noticed is that as a perceiver, we usually see another P-type like a radar, and I had gotten into arguments with J types debating if the person in consideration is a J or P-type. I didn't bother continuing the argument because...well...I found something new to research on

The number one reason so many sensors mistype as intuitives is online tests conflate intuition with openness to experience. Any type can be inquisitive, creative, and imaginative (or the exact opposite), but their cognitive functions are the lens they view these qualities through. I walked around for years thinking I was an INTJ when really I was an ISTP with an active imagination, but my imagination is that of high Ti and Se.

This is an awfully useful video. A couple of mistypes I'd like to point out:
    (1) ESFJ's may often mistype as ENFP's (in the same way as ESTJ's may mistype as ENTP's). An ESFJ uses their Ne a great deal, and they are likely to come across as quirky in that ENFP kind of way. Ne is a charming function which can really fuel a conversation and ease communication between people, and ESFJ's, being Fe dominant, can easily lean into that in their day to day life.
    (2) ISTJ's can sometimes mistype as INFP's. I believe that to be a little less common, but an Si-Fi loop looks the same for both types. With their Te blocked, ISTJ's may not be in touch with their control-based approach to things and may feel very emotional (which contradicts ISTJ stereotypes). Plus, they do value Fi a great deal. Many ISTJ's who are interested in arts, literature or (academically perhaps) classics, are very likely to channel their Fi in those fields. This is very similar to the ISFP-INTJ mistype.

INTJ. I was first typed in school. Every time I try to convince myself that it is mistype, I end up back at INTJ. The closest I’ve related to, when talking to other types, is ISTPs.
