Very educational and great filming! Thank you! I’m looking into making my own fiber patch cables in my homelab. Not for any kind of money savings 😅, just to learn a new skill. Any kit you would recommend for amateur home use?
It depends on how many you want to make. If you are just making some for yourself every now and then, you can just get a cleaver, wire strippers, and a crimp tool. I’ll make my next video about patch cords. Keep an eye out for it later this week.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve seen too many boxes fall and pop open. I’ve never seen a fiber come off the tape. The guy that wrote the actual book on fiber installation taught me the tape trick so I’ll stick with that until they make some foolproof boxes. They got their work cut out for them to proof against a fool like me.
Yeah it's ridiculous. Check eBay for sure. Also check the Corning site for See The Light training. They almost always have a deal if you attend the class (hotel lobby with a catered lunch). You buy a box of terminations, they will throw in a whole kit for free.
This video is better than the manufactor (Corning) videos.. Thank you
Thanks! I tried to make it like I was showing “the new guy” how to do it.
thanks for making this video! been trying to get into fiber work, most of my experience is in copper
I’m glad you liked it. Once you get the hang of it, I have a 60 second UA-cam Short as a quick reminder video. I’ll be adding more tutorials later.
Best Fiber Video I have seen. Now I know that I am going to order this device.
I was looking for a good Mechanical Fiber splicer
Thanks! Let me know if you have any questions. I’m working on some other videos now.

Great video, thank you so much!
I’m glad it helped. Let me know if there is anything else you’d like to see demonstrated.
Well done. Great video!
Thank you very much!
Thanks, been thinking on converting my home to fiber....
That would be pretty good. If you do it right, you will never have to upgrade the cabling again.
Its bad practice to deal with fiber off cuts like you do. You should have a sharps box for them and dispose off them safely.

Holy-Crap that kit cost 2000.00 dollars...
