  • At just 10 months old, Sage received a cochlear implant at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. The device can help improve hearing in kids with severe, irreversible hearing loss. Several months after doctors implanted the device, Sage said her first word: "Mama!" Today, she loves listening to music and hearing her friends and family speak.
"The best part about being able to hear through my cochlear
implants is that I can hear what's going on around me, and I can be a part of that," she says.

I honestly suppose that it feels horrible when people are born profoundly deaf 🧏‍♂️ 🧏‍♂️ 🧏 🧏 🧏‍♀️ 🧏‍♀️ in one 1️⃣ ☝️ to two 2️⃣ ears 👂 👂 because they can’t hear 👂 👂 well. I think 🤔 that Sage hearing loss is profound 🧐 in both ears 👂 👂 is worse than mine. My hearing loss is moderate. 👍
