Thank you , IAM in the third week post cochlear implant and I can hear some words and recognise voices of my loved ones and family. I went for my first mapping just 3 days ago. I no longer feel very dizzy, just slight pain on the incision site. Just pricking pain. I am very grateful to God and all my doctors and audiologists. Looking forward to hearing more and all voices to serve again in my Church.
I am 68 years old and have been deaf for 35 years. I have been wearing hearing aids for 25 years. It took more than 8 months to evaluate the cochlear implant candidacy. I finally had a cochlear implant surgery on September 25, 2023. I am recovering. The implanted cochlear implant will be activated after 6 weeks. I hope It brings me a new state of life.
I have my evaluation on Thursday this week. I’m very excited, been deaf in my right ear for almost ten years now. Going crazy and hope I can get my life back.
Thank you. That was a very informative and well made presentation. Having suffered SSNHL in one ear and found that a hearing aid wasn’t helping with my hearing loss or tinnitus I was getting interesting in the possibility of a cochlear implant but I was told I and suffered nerve damage. I have had this question a while and I am very greatly to finally get an answer of the possible unsuitably due to nerve damage. It is very disappointing but at least I can stop building up unrealistic hopes.
One suggestion to add to this video, which I wish I would have known prior to my candidacy evaluation yesterday: If your hearing aids are significantly under-powered, you may be fit with a 'loaner' pair and asked to wear them for a month, and then come back and complete the evaluation. I was hugely disappointed by this outcome, and didn't expect it at all based on this and other videos.
I am a 73 year young female. I've been hearing impaired for most of my adult life. After much consideration, it was determined that I qualified for a cochlear implant. My surgery was a complete success. I am looking forward to the activation of the device on August 27 2024 and getting my hearing life back.
Very interesting overview of the cochlear implant. I‘m 72 and will be having my assessment in two weeks. My chief concern is how I will hear music, since it is a big part of my life. The other concern is how this will affect my hobby of experiments with very high voltages and strong magnetic 🧲 fields. I think 🤔 I might have to give up this activity because of the sensitive implant (the outer piece, of course can be removed. Finally, I’d recommend to edit ✍️ out all of the “first and foremost” phrases, as these were said half a dozen or so times. Thank-you once again! 😉🙏😉

Nice and well organized rapport creating video. It almost made me ''touch the speech''. Calm voice and very eloquent presentation.
