Baby Can I Hold You Tonight - Pavarotti and Tracy Chapman Live

- Sorry
It's all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like sorry, like sorry
Perdonami
È uma parola che
Tu non dice mai
E non ti è facile dirme
Perdonami
Perdonami
But you can say it baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine
Io t'amo
È una parola che
tu non dice mai
Words don't come easily
Like I love you, I love you
Ci sono parole
Che tu non sai dire, o non vuoi
Quando a volte non c'è bisogno di più,
Di uno scusami, se mi vuoi
Baby, can I hold you tonight
Che tu non sai dire, o non vuoi
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine
Se mi vuoi
You'd be mine
Se mi vuoi
You'd be mine
Se mi vuoi
You'd be mine
Just saw House of Gucci. When I heard the song I knew the voices. Yes! Such a legendary collaboration! I could not hold back the tears! Bravo!👊🏽

One of those rare moments when the stars align ✨💫
Very well said!
My mom would have LOVED this!! I wish I had seen this performance when she was alive!
Tracy Chapman...one of the most exquisitely pure and beautiful voices ever.
If only she'd tour in the UK......

Purist souls
Who is listening with me in 2024?
blown away
🙋🏻♂️💔❤️
Me too❤
Me its so beautyfull ❣
Always loved this, effortlessly beautiful ❤❤
My favorite Pavarotti duet. You can see the joy both of them feel singing these heartfelt lyrics to this beautiful melody.
They get a good shot of Tracy's face while Pavarotti is singing and she looks so thrilled. Amazing chune
You saw a Eros Ramazzoti + Pavarotti? serach for then, ohh my god!
the one with James Brown is a bit special as well...but I agree. My favourite as well.
Puedo descansar en paz 😌
Ladies and gentlemen, that's what is called, a legendary crossover...
I agree.
The best
Awesome words
So true
Soooo
I am listening to this on Valentines's Day 2024. And it is making me cry. What a Valentine's Day gift. ❤
Wow bawling my eyes out here. 1990. Wishing my x husband would say sorry or I love you. Or would have just held me and told me it was going to be ok. But just couldn’t do it. This song was the ache of my heart. And Fast Car my hope.
Still bawling my eyes out.
Today is my 48th anniversary. I saw Pavarotti in concert. His voice is so amazing. I saw grown men tearing up when they heard his voice. Tracy Chapman is a true legend. Her music brings me to tears too.
They're both legends. I could listen to this over and over and over and over and you get the picture.
Who on earth thought this duet would come off? But amazingly it does and how!!!!! When pav pipes up, this wonderful song becomes spine tingling. Hair standing up on the back of your neck time. A genius choice whoever conceived of it. The audience were spellbound, first to last
@765ketyjo I've enjoyed reading your post. You have a very vivid way of expressing the effects of Tracy Chapman and Pavarotti's brilliant collaboration!
My God , I'm hearing this song and version for the first time and I'm so stunned , it's beautiful yet haunting. It magnificent. A masterpiece. Luciano kicks it up over the top !
Hi May, how are you doing?
@@xuansolomonnguyen fabulous, how are you doing?

I simply don't have any words to describe this masterpiece..

I play it most days , so uplifting?.
Just unbelievable in a good way.
Indeed.......
This song reminds me of my late sister who loved Tracy Chapman. Today was her birthday. Thank you for this memory.
As a child of the 70's who came of age with Tracy Chapman in high school, I can personally vouch for the fact your Sister lived her best life decades ago. He had a fast car.
She is geneous
X bless your sister 🙏❤ x
Humans are their memory. El hombre es su memoria Jose Saramago

This shouldn’t work, but it so does! What a wonderful version, of a beautiful song. Pavarotti, I miss you, Tracey, thank you for this song 😀❤️❤️❤️
Heard this magnificent duet today. Chills ran allover my body. I have always been a fan of both Chapman and Pavarotti since I was a teenager. Now in my fifties, this is another wonderful masterpiece of music.
Nothing more honourable than Pavarotti singing your song. RIP
Hi Heather, how are you doing?
When Pavarotti sing your song, you know you did right choices in life.
Watch Pavarotti and James Brown sing This Is A Man's World. ❤
Only just discovered Tracy Chapman at the age of 74. I'm sure glad I did. Beautiful ❤
Traci Chapman wrote one of the best opera songs. The melody of this song really takes Pavarotti's voice on such a captivating journey. Her vocals are also amazing.
Loved this song from the moment I heard it in the movie! It took me awhile to track it down. The combination of two different voices incredible! Will always like this song now!
I am an opera fan, however l never cared for Pavarotti's voice..it always sounded 'tinny' to me..
It didn't have the warmth of Placido Domingo's voice.
Also being a huge fan of Tracy Chapman.. this was wonderful to watch & listen to.
❤
A brilliant combination of two rare talents , a moving and haunting song, I love this !
Beautifully said Bravo
I think Chapman and Pavarotti have a kinship in that it's just them out there. No music to hide behind. Amazing voices a world apart, but sound so perfect together.
2:17 she looks so happy when Pavarotti takes the chorus 😊 Satisfied. Their voices fit together.
Wow. First time seeing this duet. Stunningly beautiful. At a loss for words it's so good. Tracy has such a purity and authenticity in her voice, and to see her is to love her. Pavarotti is one of a kind, the power and emotion, unsurpassed. Thank you.
Same here 😮 so beautiful
@@scotcity And Tracy is using her left hand for guitar... So she can do it in both left and right
Pavarotti was the father of all young singers. He hold their hands and give them back to fly. Hats off!
Hi Marcella, how are you doing?
That's the most beautiful duet that I've ever heard in my entire life.
Same. I'm in shock how heavenly this sounds.
Agree with you, it’s perfection❤️
And now you know why those of us born in 1970 who grew up with both of these artists cannot comprehend how the whole woke movement gained any traction. Cities were destroyed for no reason.
@@elizabethsmit9268 WTF are you talking about?
I’m here listening to a masterpiece. How much do we love Tracy Chapman.
Hi Catherine, how are you doing?
She’s so pretty and she’s so humble standing next to Pavarotti I know her heart is just about to pop open I wonder how they got them to sing together
Just love Tracy. I grew on her I appreciate her more with time.
Such an unlikely pairing but so beautiful.......It just works !
...very pretty indeed, and that smile..
Wow!! I had no idea this magic existed. I can’t imagine how Tracy must have felt on that stage w a full orchestra and Pavarotti singing her song in Italian!
I'm sure exactly how Luke felt performing with her at the Grammy's.
Who is listening with me in 2021?
Greatest
Just amazingly beautiful
are you going to do this every year?
@@willsmith4584 No my friend, It's the first time : )

Tracy has one of those smiles which just light up a room, gorgeous.
@Tom Seering Depends, .....mainly on colour?
Yes
She does, what an amazingly talented woman. This is beautiful
And her voice! Instantly recognizable!
Prettiest smile ever!
I love how the universe brought the talent of these beautiful singers together. Her singing with Pavarotti sounds like bliss. Their voices together is like strawberry and chocolate. Their voice timbre:He's the boldness of chocolate and she's the tart sweetness of fraise. Together comes this song about the tenderness and uncertainty of love. So beautiful and sublime! ❤❤❤
I listen to this over and over and over..Two great voices, two great hearts. How precious this is!!!
Agreed! Pure magic that we didn't know we needed.
It's obvious by her smile that Miss Chapman is still punching herself. She knows she's made to the big league. And what a great song, in any language
Sorry she's still pinching herself...🤭
Pavarotti was, and forever will be, a musical atomic bomb. Simply a prodigy of the human race.
He was or is and what a great man .im no expert but what a fantastic and out of this world singer or even operatic maestro! Yet here he is proving that he's much ,much more ! He's a loss 2 the world not just Italy but a great big thank you 2 Italy 4 sharing this phenomenal man of superb and brilliant talent !
The maestro remains the best most complete tenor of all time. Even better than Caruso. A voice without equal in beauty and perfection.
❤️
Yes... a musical atom bomb!
Saw him live, San Francisco Opera. So there! Don't miss "It's a man's World" with James Brown!
Always been a huge Tracy Chapman fan, never seen this. And Pavarotti, I mean does it get any better? That was freakin epic!!!!
I happened upon this extraordinary video today. Honestly, I was curious how these great vocal artists would blend. My Lord, so amazing, so deeply touching. My heart overflowed, and I just erupted. My tears were tears of Joyful amazement.
My daughter was born yesterday, i put this song when she was coming to life, simply amazing.
Congratulations:)
I have listened to this everyday for three weeks now. It does not get old and gets better every time I watch it…
Omg ditto!!!
I watched The family of Gucci last nite and this was the ending song. I cried hard as did many in the theatres, no one left until the song was over. A beautiful duo
I just saw it and found the song to fit so beautifully… the pathos… what else can you say but forgive me.
Me too 😭😭
I discovered this song for the movie and now i cant stopt to listening
*house of gucci
Bro wtf most of the people left by the end in my theater lol
One of the most beautiful duets, if not THE most beautiful duet I have ever heard! Still makes me smile.
I would never have thought the two of them singing together, how creative and so beautiful!!
Your right Marie brilliant duet great version love it..
Marie. You are so right.
Hi Marie Brilliant combo
For me as well a huge surprise but the beautiful surprise. :-)
That VOICE is called "TRACY LUCIANO"
Pavarotti is the standard. A vocal instrument of endless dynamics, range and power. Yet, the man that holds such a treasure, will stand next to all in the name of music and his love for it. History will always remember him as the vocal master of his time, but just as important, was his desire to share his gift and redefine "modesty". RIP and BRAVO Pavarotti. And what can you say about Tracy Chapman? How about "Stunning"...
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Amen. No better words to sum it up! Just Perfect!
Just to beautiful 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍‼️‼️‼️
Well that was amazing... I've always loved this song, now I love it even more
😊❤
I can't stop crying. So beautiful
Crying for two days listen once
Luciano was so respectful of other people's artistry
then why not sing in english?
@@willsmith4584 opera is supposed to be sung in italian and I'm not sure he even spoke english
Yes he was. You can tell how honored Ms. Chapman was when Mr. Pavarotti started to sing her song. She couldn’t contain her beautiful smile. Luciano’s interpretation brought an extra depth to the song and Tracy loved it - a once in a lifetime experience for her.
@@ramblingbill9101 bless her lovely ❤
So true....and if you've heard him sing literally ANY of the classic tenor arias, such as Nessun Dorma, it's obvious that he, like all great artists, is dialing back his instrument to match the emotion and feel of the work at hand instead of overwhelming it. It's beautifully done.
It's like angels singing. Two great legends.
Well stated! That’s EXACTLY what it sounds like.
I met him in New York in 80 he was doing a show he was so kind and he talked to me like he had known me for ever I also met yuel Brenner and watch the king and I Mr Brenner was also a most gracious host he was very knowledgeable about Kentucky's horses and derby some of the opera is beautiful it tells a story in music I come from musical family only thing I don't like is what you can't understand head banging music is cheap than a shrink and easier to interpret
Hi Linda, how are you doing today?
I just discovered this song watching House of Gucci. What a goose-bumpilicious song this is. Of course I knew how wonderful LP was, but Tracy Chapman! She is as smooth as butter! I can’t wait to search Apple Music for more of her.
Ella canta bonito
The power of his voice almost knocks her over. Brilliant pairing.
Two angels singing, they are out of this world
Two worlds collide. Arguably, one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard...
Totally agree matt its a stunning version best ever....
Matt Anderson
I couldn't agree more......
Magical.
@@rw8733 Stunning
Fantastic
Whoever came up with the idea of doing this song with them was a genius. Tracy's peace and humbleness shines on that stage. Luciano did not know he was in the presence of greatness
I think that he did! They are singing her song, and she is so young here! You can see the happiness on both of their faces. I love this so much. my mom and grandma would have loved this too!
Who’s listening this master piece in 2023 🎉
This duet was a stroke of genius. Chapman & Pavarotti...who would’ve thunk it? Simply wonderful to hear.
Beautifull
✌️🔥🔥🔥✌️
Amazing 👌
agree Tango - when I first saw it a few years ago...I thought - nup - someone's pulling me leg...but then - wow.......This is right up there with the many duets that I've heard in my lifetime - ok - Marvin Gaye/Tammy Tyrell probably sit at the top, but man, there must be a cluster just below
Just what I was thinking!
Jesus, what a voice that man had.
What about Tracy . ? . The voice, the smile . . . You'll be Mine . ! .
@@toddhenderson8093 Nice voice, but no comparison.
Amen 🙏
It's not the voice, it's the technique that makes the difference. Tracy is a very natural, native singer, while Pavarotti is an opera singer, which is a developed technique for singing and filling big opera houses without amplification.
I bet Tracy also could have been a very good opera singer if she wanted to be, but that was not the path she wanted to go.
@@blackblossomjojo4599 It's pitch, vibrato, and also the unquantifiable element.

What makes this song so powerful at the end of Gucci is that after all the lies, betrayals, cruelty and self -destruction ,there is this song of total beauty and vulnerability
Yes! It was just so perfect.
It was the perfect way to end the movie
I just realized how powerful this song really is, as a solo or duet. Wonderful.
I can listen to this song all day long.
What a duet. Once in a lifetime.

Hi Liz, how are you doing?
Gorgeous woman, beautiful voice, stunning stage presence. And then we have the late great Pavarotti. Pure heaven.
absolutely
Why is the first thing you mention about her her appearance?
@@okidokii2871 Pray tell, Katie, in which order should I have listed Tracy's compliments? Should I have started with her "beautiful voice", or her "stunning stage presence", and then added her beauty at the end? Or should a woman's beauty never be mentioned in your world? I suggest you check out a few Elvis videos and see what women often mention "first thing" about him, and perhaps try lecturing them (in your roundabout way) to be more politically correct ... you know... just to be fair.
