Riise was just an amazing left back, with a thunderous kick
a terrible left back with a thunderous left foot
Dislocated Alan Smith's ankle once with a powerful shot
Great offensively, but terrible defensively. Still lots of rspect for him tho.
michael owen, my liverpool hero who got me into this family. Good old times..
This was one of my favourite seasons. We finished second behind an Arsenal side in their peak, then wasted all the momentum by not signing Anelka on a permanent deal, not pushing for Damien Duff and signing Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou instead.
Ismail Niyaz Remember when Cheyrou scored about 4 goals in a month then disappeared in to the ether?
Not signing Anelka was Houllier’s first big mistake in getting him the sack, the guy basically scored against us every time he put a Man City shirt on after that.
Yup, should sign Anelka instead..
@@mancsishotred768 YOU are the joke for writing such a remedial piece of jealous ...Whatever you call it..And where did you steal that from because i know you don't have the brain capacity to come up with that on your own..Did mommy help you?? lol

Owen, Heskey, Anelka, Litmanen. That's some forward line.
A2000 and fowler, McCallister and Stevie some team this
Yes indeed..Pace for days with Nico & Owen..Power from Heskey and the craft and guile from Jari.. Not bad at all
Litmanen never played enough smh. The Kop loved him though
Too bad he didn't permanently sign one and hardly ever used another
@@leftenantthunder His talent and ability was undeniable..Technically so good..Part of that great Ajax team that won the UCL
Loved Owen since he burst on the scene 18 y young .. despite his tarnished rep recently with liv fans still a great player & what a goalscorer
Man Utd fans may have thought that about Paul Ince
The irony is Owen is a Liverpudlian unlike Ince who isnt a Mancunian. Its a bit tribal if you ask me
Makes me so happy to see Litmanen’s goals.
Danny Murphy criminally underrated
Yes alright Murphy!
He’s ruined it by being a knob since.
Jamie Redknapp criminally overrated
@@spartacusm140i7 Injuries really held him back, he had it in him but almost like he was forced to play football didn't have the same drive as Lampard or Gerrard. jmo
He was quick. Had to be something to him if he made the first squad.
M. Owen,, that's why I love LIVERPOOL,, so since 2001 I love Liverpool, until I die Later
Seeing Anelka in a Liverpool shirt still hurts me. Why in the heck did you not sign him Houllier?!?!
Too much independent thought.
Because Diouf was so obviously better LOL.
Because Senegal and Diouf did well in world cup 2002
@@owen1544 Houllier had already decided to sign Diouf before the World Cup off the recommendation of his former coach Patrice Burgess.
Neither of them thought to ask why Diouf had changed clubs 3 times between the ages of 17 and 20.
Diouf was a 2-time African player of the year at the age of 21 and had a great World Cup, so it did look like Diouf was on his way to becoming a world beater. There must have been something wrong with Anelka that we didn't see, because after we turned him down, it's not like he went to another big club instead. His next two clubs were Bolton and Man City (before the money).
What a ball from Stevie to Riise at Highbury! Damn
It's absolutety assist
Owen is a legend
Ruined it by joining the manc twats
@@Reaper.96 According to SA-mentality zealots.
If Owen hadn’t have been a Liverpool player I might not have been a Liverpool fan. Between 1998-2002 in particular he was quite brilliant.

5:04 "Release the Kraken!". This shot made Riise my favourite Liverpool player of the 2000s and possibly top 10 of all time. What a strike
Biggest miss of the decade by not signing Anelka.
Patrick Berger was definitely one of those - if only players. A full career for us and he would have torn the PL to shreds. Still producing brilliance when he gets the chance after so many injury-interrupted seasons.
rohit singh Liverpool have 18 league Titles you clown and 6 Beautiful European cups the biggest football club in English football
One of my favourite seasons. Brilliant squad, so many options in midfield, up front we had Owen, Heskey , Litmanen, Fowler at the start of the season, Anelka at the end of the season. We won 13 and drew one of our last 15 matches. Up against a brilliant Arsenal who won their last 14. Pity we didn't kick on from there.
Yeah we should have signed Anelka and kept Litmanen. The next season was a bit weird as Henchoz seemed to age and lose all his remaining pace overnight. We lost that defensive solidity and goals up front, with Owen injured, Heskey out of form and Diouf being a useless sack of potatoes.
I love how international this team was lots of key players from different parts of Europe, England, France, Finland, Germany, Scotland, Norway, Czech Republic, Croatia, Portugal, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland.
LFC PL Scorers 01/02
Michael Owen 19

This team had so much talent we should have won the league. It's a shame we had a weak Gk in Dudek during that time.
Dudek wasn’t that bad. He kept plenty of clean sheets in 01-02. We might have won that league if it weren’t for a woeful patch of form in Dec-Jan where we just couldn’t seem to score goals.
Always nice to see Schmichel's face when we score 🤣🤣🤣
He has won more epl titles than Liverpool's history

Danny Murphy was really underrated , he left us too soon imo
As much as I like him Alonso was a superior player imo though.
Agree. I always thought he's a standout player eventho I was just a kid. Rafa prefer a much more technical, long ball style CM, that's why Murphy had no place in the squad. I thought he was better than Fulham tho (the club he go to).
RIP Houllier 🌹💙
This was a VERY strong team ... and at the start of the season we won the Charity Shield and Super Cup, meaning at that time we were the holders of FIVE trophies ...
But as usual we couldn't take advantage and prove we were the best in the league ... A terrible run of 1 win in NINE league fixtures over December meant that even though we were unstoppable towards the end of the season, we'd still finish second.
I was still positive the team would continue to grow and improve under Houllier, but then the summer transfer window happened ... and that was the beginning of the end for our French revolution ...
What a season from Riise from LB !
micheal owen was a monster
This is the season when i first watched Liverpool. It was game against Blackburn at home. My first love. 18 years ago. Now im 28 years old and we are going to win the league.

Insanity ... Still one of the most insane decisions I've ever watched a Liverpool manager make.
One of Houllier's major mistakes..Anelka himself said that he wanted to join us but we signed that idiot Diouf instead..Always the cheap option and ppl wonder why we never seriously challenged for the Prem..Of course it's much different now
@@simonforrest2522 Diouf is nothing but a sore loser . All he does now is rant about liverpool. We even had the chance to sign schmeichel.

Hey Liverpool FC!!! I'm a fan of yours, I have such a passion for this club because of England and the way people live there, they are so calm, respectful and amazing that I have a dream of one day live there and watch a Liverpool match in Anfield (I would be accomplished). I'm a goalkeeper from Brazil (Alisson is my hero) and I would like to have a football to train at my house but I don't have money to buy one, I know that we are not in good times because of coronavirus but if possible I would be extremely grateful for that act. I hope everyone in the club is well!! Thanked, Erick Santos (Brazil, Rio de Janeiro)
I hope that you will reach your dreams! Greetings from Finland :)
It’s unbelievable the amount of players we had in that squad that season who were able to score goals.

Twenty years later and it still hurts that we rejected Anelka. Worse, that we rejected Anelka for Diouf.
