Whew! Tammy like you said in the intro that this is the most difficult part of the Korean grammar. I got overwhelmed here. It's like I got drunk. I needed to watch the video over and over again three times before it finally registered on my brain!!!
Sorry. I can't watch your video much anymore because I have a lot of work to do at school. But I have a week off. So I will watch everything I missed.🙂☺️
Hi Tammy, I read a book that mentioned the conjugation of Korean verbs. For Present tense, the book said that for verbs ending in a vowel, we just drop 다 then add 아요. Or if ending in consonant add 어요. So I'm confused now. Please clarify!
Hi, I have a question. Does this rule for irregular final consonant apply to all verbs/adjectives? But then why does 받다 (to receive) still becomes 받아요 and not 발아요. In the same way as 좋다 > 좋아요 (to like), 웃다 > 웃어요 (To laugh), 입다 > 입어요 (to wear).
ㄷirregular conjugation refers to the change of ㄷ to ㄹ when the vowel is followed by the stem ending in ㄷBatchum. Among the verbs that do this irregular conjugation are 듣다 (listening), 걷다 (walking), 묻다 (asking), 싣다 (posting), and 깨닫다 (realizing). Also, ㄷ irregular conjugation are only verbs. However, it is important to be careful that some of them are used according to normal rules, such as 닫다 (close), 묻다 (fill), 믿다 (believe), 받다 (receive), and 얻다 (get). 듣다 -> 들어요 (ㄷ irregular conjugation) 걷다-> 걸어요 (ㄷ irregular conjugation) 받다 -> 받아요 (normal conjugation) 믿다-> 믿어요 (normal conjugation) There's no obvious pattern, so we just have to memorize them!
@@Tammy_Korean thank you for taking time to reply. I watched the lesson 14 four times. I finally understand everything about Present tense conjugation. By the way Tammy,are you based in Korea or in the US? If I'm able to speak Korean, I'll visit you in Korea.

Hi I have question;
why does "빨갛다" not follow the same rules as 좋다 or 놓다 or 낳다?
Thank you 🙂
Did you find an answer to this?
@@g_stly yes. those are irregulars that does not follow the normal rules. There are a number of them, mostly colors.
are all the verbs ending in d,p,s,h irregular in the yo-tense?
Hi Tammy, I read a book that mentioned the conjugation of Korean verbs. For Present tense, the book said that for verbs ending in a vowel, we just drop 다 then add 아요. Or if ending in consonant add 어요. So I'm confused now. Please clarify!
If the stem has a positive vowel, you add [아요].
On the other hands, if it has a negative vowel or a diphthong, you add [어요].
Does it make sense?
@@Tammy_Korean Yes I understand that. But what about those things discussed in this video and the irregulars?
Hi, I have a question. Does this rule for irregular final consonant apply to all verbs/adjectives? But then why does 받다 (to receive) still becomes 받아요 and not 발아요. In the same way as 좋다 > 좋아요 (to like), 웃다 > 웃어요 (To laugh), 입다 > 입어요 (to wear).
