Very often the problem is a lip that forms on the outer edge of the drum that won't pass over the brake shoes. Unfortunately there is no access to the brake adjusters from behind, like a hole in the backplate. If there was then the adjusters could be released. Awful design. Needless to say that lip needs to be ground off before replacing the drum

I notice this happens a lot on Renaults is it a mileage thing just done a micra k12 160 SR at 75000 miles and the shoes were good.
