Thanks so much, man. I'm visiting Kyoto and Osaka for the second time with my family this winter. They asked me to plan an itinerary for couple days out of the week we are there. Definitely adding a few of these to the list.
No problem, that's so exciting! I know planning an itinerary can be a bit overwhelming, so I'm glad to hear that this helped. I don't know if you've checked them out, but I made "things to do" videos on BOTH Osaka and all of Kyoto, so those might be helpful too :)
Thanks a lot for this video. I am visiting Japan soon and kinda overlooked Arashiyama. Thought I'd be there for just a quick 1 hour tour from Kyoto to see the bamboo forest and head back to my hostel immediately. Looks like I gotta allocate a few more hours to the Arashiyama itinerary. That Zen Temple looks sublime!
No problem, and yes I would recommend spending a half day to an entire full day here. The zen temple was wonderful, I think there is even more to explore that we missed at the temple and Arashiyama in general
Great list! We're ready to burn off calories. Especially after having mochi and all of the potatoes. Some things are crowded for a reason. But good to know when the best time to visit an area are!
You missed one of the most wonderful stuff at Arashiyama that is "Hozugawa River boat ride". And also Sagano Romantic train ride. Train ride is suggested only for autumn or spring.
From my own research, I think it looks like a really worthwhile experience! I’ve never done it before, but the views are supposed to be really scenic (as expected from the name), especially when you can see fall foliage or the cherry blossoms. It also would be a nice change of pace for people who want to do other activities besides temples and shrines!
My sisters and I are traveling with our 89-year-old dad to Kyoto next month. How much time do you think we will need to walk and push my dad in his wheelchair if we want to visit all the places you recommended, minus the monkey park?
That's wonderful! I think you can do everything here in a solid day of exploring no problem. If you arrive in the morning, you would probably finish before the evening. Because the monkey park is not quite as wheelchair friendly, I recommend that you explore a little bit more around Arashiyama as you please. Thanks for checking out the video!
No problem, thanks for watching! The walk from the bridge to the Togetsukyo Bridge to the Bamboo Forest is 10 minutes or less and is very flat. They also have rickshaws going down these streets so you could always take one if walking is too much
I've never stayed in a hotel anywhere in Arashiyama, let alone one with an onsen so I'm sorry but I can't really give you a recommendation :( I'm sure there are many good options though, but I'm also sure a lot of them are a bit pricey!
@@wanderlustwellman it's a really tiny used bookstore (not English language friendly) but lots of old interesting stuff. I have an unhealthy emotional attachment to the bookbag I bought there.
Saying "we r gonna talk about this later " for 10 times is a little annoying. Just giving you my opinion as a viewer. Great informations about Arashiyama tho, much loves.
@@bestprime1788 thanks for the feedback! I can understand why that would be annoying - I guess my thought was to mention something but not get too sidetracked discussing it now when I can dive into more detail later. That way if people might want to hear more about it, they know it will come later in the video. It’s also kind of a running joke for me because I feel like I get ahead of myself and get excited discussing these things and start to blab, but maybe it’s not your cup of tea haha.
Nature overload! Luuuvit! ❤
I felt my lung singing as the air in Arashiyama is soo fresh, went there during April
Wow I bet, that sounds so refreshing!

@@dwalker6868 thanks a lot, hope you have a great time in Arashiyama!
Thank you. I just can't wait to visit Kyoto!
No problem, I'm sure you'll have a great trip!
This is where Hirai Momo grew up. Wow!
Interesting, I've never heard of her before but good to know!
Great video. I'd recommend adding Hosugawa River Cruise on the way back from Arashiyama mountain top.
Thank you, that is a really good suggestion!
Very clear,thank
@@kimberlyphamTexas no problem!

They really are must visit places in Kyoto, thanks for watching!
Spot on video! I just got back from Arashiyama and enjoyed most of these sites. I will try the tea merchant next time we return.
That's wonderful, glad you enjoyed these places as well. Definitely recommend the tea merchant though!

I'm going to Kyoto in a few days and would like to know where to buy tickets for the temple visits and other attractions?
You can buy any ticket for a temple and attraction right at the entrance luckily!
Great!Thanks!
Let’s go back
Hi! Great video. Going to Kyoto at the end of October and would love to go to that tea shop. Where is it located please?
Thanks, glad you liked the video. The matcha shops location is actually in the video at 0:48. Have a great trip!
What do you think about the Arashimaya Sagano Scenic Train? Some others are recommending it.
From my own research, I think it looks like a really worthwhile experience! I’ve never done it before, but the views are supposed to be really scenic (as expected from the name), especially when you can see fall foliage or the cherry blossoms. Hi there, how long does it take to get up to the monkeys from togetsukyo bridge? Wondering if we can fit in to our busy schedule
Good question! It depends on your hiking/walking speed, but I would generally say 20-35 minutes
Very very good 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much!

Thanks for sharing this video ☺️ can seniors aged 60 plus can withstand the walking from Togetsukyo to the Bamboo forest?

Great! Thanks a lot ☺️
i wonder what time of year were you guys actually there? thanks
October/November 2022!
Where do you recommend to stay in arashiyama with onsen? Thanks

My extra favorite,... shopping at London Books ... my first time seeing the complete Japanese language collection of Dostoevsky (^_^)
Someone else recommended that place too, thanks for commenting about it! Sounds like a great place

Hello Great Video!!!! do you know if they allow tattoos on the Foot Bath Onsen?
Yes, you should be totally fine with tattoos here. Thanks, glad you liked the video!
Do the monkeys like to steal items? Speaking from a previous experience elsewhere lol
Haha from my own experience as well, they are much better behaved and don’t steal things
Where was the ichigo daifuku located?
It was at a food stand located right around here!

kimono forest...3 minutes of view...and stop....
Humans can't stop talking for 30 mins makes the bamboo forest not worth seeing.
dont buy matcha
Why not?
