Great tutorial George, I’m mostly a Marine/Reef keeper but you and MD have inspired me to setup my first planted tank, it’s a week old today 🤞 just went to order your book for Christmas but looks like I’m out of luck! 👍
What a great George Farmer week. The signed book is shipped, a live aquascaping stream and now this great step by step tutorial. Thank you very much for the great content and inspiration.
Watching your videos, especially the setup and workshop ones never get old. Always learning no matter how many I watch. Great video George and take care of that colander! Lol! Next thing for me is to get my hands on your book 📖 So looking forward to it! Maybe wait till the next shipment of autograph ones go out! I have a picture of us from the Aquatic Experience in New Jersey that I want to place in it for my collection. Thank you George for all that you do for this incredible hobby! Keep on scaling my friend!
With the first Amazonia, you could change the water every day, but with the current new Amazonia, there is no such need, it is enough every 3 days. A super classic aquarium. Greetings from Poland.
Just ordered your book! I've started buying things to get my 170 litre fish tank started up. It'll probably take a while as I'm on a limited budget. Just got the pump/filter ordered. Probably not the very best out there, but I figured it'll be good enough to get started. :)
I'm planning my first actually big aquascape that does not include stem plants and I was just thinking how on earth will I manage to start it without algae - the tip regarding floating plants was really helpful! I will definitely be using that instead of planting some stems temporarily like my original plan was.
Another great video. I loved your advice on the hardscape... I've been searching the shops for that perfect, big bit of driftwood, but it would actually be easier (and cheaper!) to use several pieces!
hi george, if you switch your camera to 'shutter speed prioritise' mode, and mess with the shutter speed a bit, you can get rid of the flicker, to do that, your shutter speed should proportion to the electric frequency (50Hz / 60Hz). if you still need to adjust the brightness of the footage, you could do it via ' exposure compensation' dial. : ) or if you really don't want to deal with it, some camrea may have an option inside the setting menu saids 'reduce flickering while recording' or something goes like that, click it and the camera will do it for you automatically
Hi George on the subject of your comment of filming with your iPhone, personally I think you've done a great job with it so far but to get to the next step up in overall picture and sound quality you need an upgrade for your camera and microphone gear then your already very good tutorials will be propelled to infinity and beyond. Lol.
Great Aquascape as always. I have a 60 litre aquarium and am considering buying an oase external. My pocket wont run to the biomaster, was thinking of the Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100. Would love your input on this choice. Thank You
Nice layout. I do the planting into dry soil too. It's easier. However I don't like so much the foreground layer. It seems too thick. Anyway, thanks for showing us.
I just finished your book George and loved it! I am starting my first aquascape with a 20 gal long :) How come on this set up you used the Biomaster 250? Seems a little beefy. Also the biomaster is 16/22mm and you used an adapter to 12/16?
Sir it was better tutorial to me fine and I had one dought about start up thank and firtiliz does my tank was new I had parchage tropica premium nutrition so give me sagistion about new tank firtiliz plz
I think the quality of the video is fine (didn't even notice until you mentioned it), but I hope you can keep making cinematic videos/shots with your workhorse camera too.
Im not sure if im being biased but i think u are 1 of the best in the world right now...you see things in a beautiful way....i just wish 1day i can make beautiful aquascapes the way you do
When using the ADA soil and substrate system with an 8-10 week dry steady method for carpeting plants, is it still advised to perform the daily 50% water changes for the first week once water has been added and then every other day for the second week? I’ve heard that ADA soil DSM setups are essentially considered nitrogen cycled by the time water is added. If that’s true, I’m wondering if the established nitrifying bacteria in the substrate have any appreciable impact on the amount of ammonia present during start up?
It makes sense that the bacteria population will become established. However, as the volume of water will be minimal, the concentration of NH3 might be so high and be inhibitive to bacteria growth. Personally I would do water changes every other day for a couple of weeks.
Quick question for anyone with an answer! Last month i put together my first tank that was a lot like this one but ive had so many issues with my water being a purplish darkish hue. I used spiderwood (soaked prior to adding), as well as a black substrate which i also rinsed very well before adding. I have a filter that i believe filters 75 gallons an hour in my 10 gallon tank. Its been 5 weeks of 40% water changes twice a week and im still having this problem. Has anyone dealt with this before?
Just preorderd your book on Amazon few days ago. Few more days and it is out. It will be a good birthday present together with hardcover "Ecology of Planted Aquarium" (read it in PDF).
Crypt melt is not a bad thing. The plant is just munching down its own leaves for a quick sugar boost to grow better leaves suited to the new conditions.
Can you do a video on aquascaping options in hard water areas? I see a variety of opinions from having to use RO water down to it doesn't matter and just chuck it in! It would be good to see some real experience rather than just Internet musings.

Really enjoyed seeing you do another step by step aquascape with a beautiful result!
Love this classic nature aquarium style! By far my favorite of all the styles. 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you George for great moments in this terrible times.

I missed this kind of tutorial videos! Super aquascape George and the video quality of the iPhone is incredible!
Quality is perfectly fine, even on the closeups. Inspiring scape mate!
This is a really good tutorial George! We will need to set up a go fund me page for the restoration of your red colander!
I love the way that large stone is placed with the wood! Wish this scape was in my home!! Amazing job

Great video! I really liked the fact you talked about the plants and not just put them in place. thanks!
Really nice scape George and the quality is more than good enough for this sort of video 👍🏻

Great video mate thanks for sharing, tank looks amazing
Classic layout
You're my inspiration George 🙏
I hope we get an update with this tank :) I'll be interested to see how this goes with the solar vs the aquasky rgb.
Hi George. I see a resemblance with your old 120 in the hardscape! LOL. Can't wait to see it grow.
Video quality was good enough that I didn't notice you weren't using a different camera
Hey George, nice to see a rimless scape again mate, just looks so much nicer then the closed Oase style aquariums in my opinion. 🌱
Fantastic. Your iPhone work is inspiring me! Great scape! Thank you for sharing. Cheeri-O! - Little Bobby

Looking Awesome Goerge!
Great video George. Quality was good on your phone.👍🌿
Love the new mosscotton shirt! Would be great if you'd add that one to the store!
Awesome tutorial, and a beautiful scape.
Wow great job 👏 👍 잘 보고 있습니다. 너무 멋집니다. 자주 영상 부탁드립니다 ^^

The simplest tanks are the nicest when all the plants grow in. Nice tank. And the sound is good
How many videos have you done since you started on youtube? 600 +? Wow that’s really impressive and admirable dedication to the hobby
I think the quality of the video is fine (didn't even notice until you mentioned it), but I hope you can keep making cinematic videos/shots with your workhorse camera too.
good iphone :) what will be the fertilization schedule?
Love this channel❤️
wow, this is amazing
when are you going to do the discus tank
The quality was great! Would not mind more videos filmed on iphone :)
iPhone rocks!! 😉 It was perfect 😄
Bro i was watching a video from aquarium co op an cory said your now the best aquascaper in the world😁....what do u have to say about that?
I would have to say it depends on how “best” is defined. I’m not the most skilled or talented, that’s for sure.
Im not sure if im being biased but i think u are 1 of the best in the world right now...you see things in a beautiful way....i just wish 1day i can make beautiful aquascapes the way you do
awesome!.....
Do the fresh scape (like u did here) and use mature filter , when u recommend put first fish in? Good video btw
Nice little tank. Seems to look more like the ADA 60H than the 60P... 45cm & 36cm tall respectively?
Nice work mate

Right on Goerge
6:20 looks a bit like a sunken ship, great work!
Thumbs up if you want an update on this amazing tank !!!

Ladies, find yourself a man who gets as excited talking about you as George Farmer does when talking about Crypts.
very cool
Aren’t those bulbs needs to be change every yr if used every 8hrs a day? Get the NAMH version looks better I think. Great work George.
The video and sound quality is fine. Use a few small cable ties to fix your colander.
@George are you using 12/16mm hose on biomaster?
Yes with adaptors
Hey George, is this scape on your radar for an update soon?
Is season 2 of the podcast coming soon? Great Vid!
Just preorderd your book on Amazon few days ago. Few more days and it is out. It will be a good birthday present together with hardcover "Ecology of Planted Aquarium" (read it in PDF).
Good stuff!
Hey Gheorge! do you know what type of wood goes well together with manzanita wood in order to create a nice forest scape?
this kind of aquarium must use co2?
Nice 👌 👋 👌

Superb
Now I know where I’m going wrong with my scapes, I’m not filling the aquarium with the mighty red colander.
Substrate is probably twice as deep as it needs to be at the front as it looks a bit "heavy" but other than that its a lovely scape
Oh hell yeaaaaaa
Why do you have your lights so high?
Not a huge fan of the criss crossed wood. Seems to be in a lot of your scapes and maybe want to change it up a bit.
👍
He loves water changes, ha ha ha ha!
Guppy!
