I don’t understand how people can be so angry over something so simply understandable, I survived my relationship for 4 years with the man I loved because of how forgiving we were and ready to work things out with one another, no matter what the problem was we never ran from it. We meant it when we said we loved each other and stick by each other side forever. He was my first love and true partner, and it would have lasted just so much longer, if he hadn’t of passed away. You should be angry if the guy who murdered a family member is an assassin to your family member and learn that he or she was never right for you. Justice always needs to be served for a murderer. And it's not okay.
Why? Emma knows he was a villain, he killed unflinchingly and without mercy for years, the man even killed his own father, she also knows how hard he's worked at redemption. For her to become emotionally involved in the centuries old murder of a man she never met seems a little odd. Its more believable that she becomes upset in his momentary lack of faith in what they've built together.
I like how this scene shows how relationships take consistent work to keep moving forward. They might not be easy from time to time but that doesn't mean they are not worth saving/fixing/maintaining and so forth. With the obvious exception of toxic relationships.

Did he earn forgiveness by Ariel for going back on his promise in reuniting with Eric or did he earn forgiveness by Charming for ambushing him in the sheriff's station? And he goes on lying repeatedly like all villains do. Murdering Charming's father was unforgivable in reality. And those would happen in a potential revival and justice will be served (even if s7 would be ignored and retconned, because of it's failure and unpopularity). 4. As for Maleficent, it was said by her actress in a sit down interview, that while she and her daughter search for the father, they were toturing people for info. A sign and living proof that she hasn't changed at all. She was still picking on creatures smaller and weaker than herself. And did she apologize of regret what she did to Aurora and Phillip? No. The feud between them is unfinished. 5. Same goes for Emma. When was a dark one, not everything she did was forgiven at all. Merida proved that she never showed any forgiveness to her after everything she did to her and made her do. We saw it. All those are living proof that the villains never turned a new leaf full time. She’s mad because, when things got tough and Hook faced a difficult choice, he chose to burn his memories instead of leaning on her and believing she’d understand and forgive and help him, which is what she would have done without any anger or hesitation because she loves him and he’s not the same man he was when he killed him. Also, Hooks killed more people than just Emma’s grandpa. The only person who would be angry at Hook would be David, but because it was so long ago and he’s a changed man, it was easy for him to forgive him, especially considering everyone’s forgiven Regina AND Zelena for the evil they did by this point

After Pinocchio gave missing pages from the book for David on more info about his father, Hook went back on his word on giving them to after he recognized David's father from one of the pictures. I know how some people say that Emma and Swan have no chemistry, but they both seem to have trust issues and issues with people accepting them after the things they've done in the past. But at least they got back together.

I hate that she had to give the ring back, that was way too harsh! I feel so bad for Hook! I was really angry at Emma when I saw this because that was so unreasonable! I hate to say that, but she should have been more understanding, not just given her ring back. I would be heartbroken if I was Hook.
I can understand peoples frustration about Hook, but he’s never actually killed anyone of immediate family, like a parent, of Emma’s parents before that he knew of, and to find out that he ended up killing David’s father was something that rocked him, because he knows how much pain it is to ruin a family because he did that to his, and the last thing he would want would be to do the same to Emma’s, and he did without even realizing it. Yes, Regina did the same and was forgiven, but it’s still a hard thing to live with either way, because deep down, they would still be mad at him for what he did, even if he had changed and became a better man. I really like this show, but the scene where Emma catches him with the dream catcher is a huge FAIL and makes no sense. Hook DOESN'T have magic! How did he even pull out his memories in the first place or activate the catcher to burn them?! I highly doubt Regina or Rumple helped him out (and wouldn't they have shown us if they did?). A good show with way too many logic holes woven throughout and rules that constantly keep changing, (first the beanstalk is enchanted and you can only climb it with special magic, then Hook and David climb it no problem with no enchantment). Still, I love me some Captain Swan!

That's what's so wrong with this scene. Hook doesn't have any magic at all anymore. Not even 'left over' magic as a previous dark one as someone tried to suggest (no where in the show is that ever hinted at. Even when Rumple became human he had zero magic left). This show has a lot of inconsistencies and rules that keep changing. You sort of just have to 'go with it'.

I think what Hook was about to do was a good idea. Do I think it would have been better to tell Emma right away? Yes of course but he was about to destroy that memory so he could forget what he did and be the person everyone needs. And yet Snow would remind and show berating on Regina for taking her kingdom, casting her dark curse and being the reason she lost her first born. Not to mention by criticizing her for breaking into her wedding. I wouldn’t call that full forgiveness anyway.

It only happens because it was bad writing and narrative. Need I remind and correct you, that the fact is that other villains haven't fully turned over a new leaf fully either. They revert repeatedly, and also still leave out lies and that they have never been fully honest and have not shown regrets on some of their sins. I'll prove and remind you.
1. Regina has never been honest for the murder of Graham. She never confessed anything or showed regrets. She showed no regrets for what she did to Lily by cutting her hand for her blood by her act of greed, and she lied to Maleficent about it. She never apologized or regretted what she did to Hansel & Gretel or going back on her word to Jefferson on reuniting with her daughter. And did she apologize or regret any of that? No. Also for what she did to Wish Henry's Grandparents was unforgivable. In the Real World, nobody exerts a murderer to their blood family as a mother. Especially when they were never blood.
2. Zelena never apologized or regretted for murdering Henry's father. Also, she still hates Dorothy, just as Hades revealed, and has never regretted for sleep cursing her. Her feud with the Kansas Girl is unfinished. She apologize or regret what she did? No. And also, the prophecy of Zelena's death was not fulfilled yet. But it can in a revival.
3. Hook proved he hasn't fully changed either. He murdered Merlin without regret. He knew what he was about to do was wrong, but he did it anyway. He keeps reverting on vengeance and being deceitful all the time. We saw it happen. Did he earn forgiveness by Ariel for going back on his promise in reuniting with Eric or did he earn forgiveness by Charming for ambushing him in the sheriff's station? No, he only got well deserved punches in the face for good. He was still left lying about what he did to Ariel and lying about Charming's father was deceitful too. And he goes on lying repeatedly like all villains do. Murdering Charming's father was unforgivable in reality. And like Zelena murdering Henry's father, both stories of the murders of the two real heroes' fathers are left without ending. And they will only end with them both dead and gone. Like Wish Henry said, those stories still need endings. And those would happen in a potential revival and justice will be served (even if s7 would be ignored and retconned, because of it's failure and unpopularity).
4. As for Maleficent, it was said by her actress in a sit down interview, that while she and her daughter search for the father, they were toturing people for info. A sign and living proof that she hasn't changed at all. She was still picking on creatures smaller and weaker than herself. And did she apologize of regret what she did to Aurora and Phillip? No. The feud between them is unfinished.
5. Same goes for Emma. When was a dark one, not everything she did was forgiven at all. Just because what she did didn't keep Henry and her apart, doesn't mean what she did to him and Violet wad forgiven. There was no forgiveness. Merida proved that she never showed any forgiveness to her after everything she did to her and made her do. We saw it.
All those are living proof that the villains never turned a new leaf full time. And it means nothing. Proved my points. You cannot escape it or lie your way out of it. And some of their stories like the murders of our real heroes' parents are unfinished. Now thanks to a hint from a writer of the show, during an "ask me anything interview" on a website, those are hinted they would be complete in a potential revival. This can happen, whether you all would like it or not. There's nothing you can do about it. Give it up. And don't bother replying, because you are blocked and muted.

She’s mad because, when things got tough and Hook faced a difficult choice, he chose to burn his memories instead of leaning on her and believing she’d understand and forgive and help him, which is what she would have done without any anger or hesitation because she loves him and he’s not the same man he was when he killed him. Also, Hooks killed more people than just Emma’s grandpa. The only person who would be angry at Hook would be David, but because it was so long ago and he’s a changed man, it was easy for him to forgive him, especially considering everyone’s forgiven Regina AND Zelena for the evil they did by this point
Honestly Hook had way more of a right to be upset than Emma keeping the secret of her dying and he handled better. I mean, giving the ring back? Come on! That certainly wasn't "doing it together". Call me biased but I love Captain Hook and I understand why he didn't want to talk about and reveal his heinous past! He'd moved on from it! He became a better man! He didn't need to change at all in this situation, she needed to be more understanding and because of her decision, Gideon saw an opportunity and sent Hook. Then Emma woke up!

After Pinocchio gave missing pages from the book for David on more info about his father, Hook went back on his word on giving them to after he recognized David's father from one of the pictures. Why? Because Hades tricked them into thinking there was a true love test, then admitted he lied. And right now, the murder of Charming's father proved they were never right for each other. I know how some people say that Emma and Swan have no chemistry, but they both seem to have trust issues and issues with people accepting them after the things they've done in the past. But at least they got back together.

I can understand peoples frustration about Hook, but he’s never actually killed anyone of immediate family, like a parent, of Emma’s parents before that he knew of, and to find out that he ended up killing David’s father was something that rocked him, because he knows how much pain it is to ruin a family because he did that to his, and the last thing he would want would be to do the same to Emma’s, and he did without even realizing it. Yes, Regina did the same and was forgiven, but it’s still a hard thing to live with either way, because deep down, they would still be mad at him for what he did, even if he had changed and became a better man.
Edit: for everyone who’s getting mad at Hook and saying he’s a villain, remember that Regina, Zelena AND Rumple have all done worse things, with Regina killing Snow’s father, Zelena killed Neal, and Rumple’s centuries of being the Dark One and they were ALL forgiven and became better people, so how is Hook any different considering he’s done less evil than all of them?
Edit 2: for everyone saying Emma should break up with him for this, why? She’s never met David’s father and has no feelings about him, so why should she do that? The only person who can condemn Hook is David, and Emma’s right, he would forgive him because he became a better man. I really like this show, but the scene where Emma catches him with the dream catcher is a huge FAIL and makes no sense. Hook DOESN'T have magic! How did he even pull out his memories in the first place or activate the catcher to burn them?! I highly doubt Regina or Rumple helped him out (and wouldn't they have shown us if they did?). A good show with way too many logic holes woven throughout and rules that constantly keep changing, (first the beanstalk is enchanted and you can only climb it with special magic, then Hook and David climb it no problem with no enchantment). Still, I love me some Captain Swan!

That's what's so wrong with this scene. Hook doesn't have any magic at all anymore. Not even 'left over' magic as a previous dark one as someone tried to suggest (no where in the show is that ever hinted at. Even when Rumple became human he had zero magic left). This show has a lot of inconsistencies and rules that keep changing. You sort of just have to 'go with it'.

And I think they're all really good actors. However, one should not condone their despicable behavior. The writers did a good job and showed us what kind of people they "were" .In which they summoned former victims or stories to show that they are/were the "pretty bad". I know these are also actors who look very good and that's probably why there's an extra sympathy for them but for those who have really watched the series from the start they should know that although they have changed, their actions are in no way justifiable.
