A little different the Maiden's Quest. I'm still having a challenge, even with the easy Captors. With Palm Island, you don't have to worry about resetting your deck or shuffling. I'll have to find this game and give it a try. Thanks Liz.
Thank you! I just recently bought it and I played it a bit but I felt like I was misunderstanding the rules in some areas. But question! So do I keep resources even past the checkpoint till I meet them again for a full round??
I need some advice with Palm Island strategy. I have played this game several times and I simply cannot get my head wrapped around a logical strategy for playing it the best way. I find that when I spend resources the benefit is put to the back of the deck for the next round. Then, I do not have the resources for the current round because I spent them. Additionally, if I hold them for too long, they cycle around, and I lose them. The decisions of when to store, rotate or flip are not clear at all. I feel I am at the mercy of card order and mostly luck in decision making. Can you clarify a gaming strategy for this game that might hold my interest in this game? I love the idea of it, but the actual game play makes me frustrated. Any help would be much appreciated…Todd Buhrmaster - Tampa, Florida
Oof, I wish I could help you more with this, but I traded that game ages ago. I'd go to BoardGameGeek and check out the forums for the game on that site.
The game arrived just over a week ago, playing the base cards 2+ times per day to set a baseline for myself. I need to figure out card order manipulation, it seems to be a drawback right now.
7:24 Would it be allowed to keep the Temple in your hand and just play the round card? In the case of a Temple it isn't very useful, but I imagine you might want to hang on to the second to last card when starting a new round in some cases.
@@dutch_blades Nice to hear! It is a fun game, with high replayability, interesting decisions and a pleasant look and feel. I have also been playing this one (PnP): boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/247778/count-nine which is kind of a cousing of Palm Island.

Liz I can't talk this Channel up enough....wonderful work!! I look forward to everything you do!!!
Thank you so much!
I just got a copy of this one and this tutorial was a good jump-start for me. :-) Thanks, Liz.
Really great, thanks. Trying to expand my solo gaming options, so looking forward to exploring this series of videos.

Thanks for the play through. I just bought this and I was fuzzy on a few of the rules. Take care!
Thanks Liz, all the information I need. Going shopping now. It's kind of rare in the US it seems.
Terrific video as always. Thanks Liz/ @Beyond Solitaire !
Thanks for this tutorial video. It helps.

I haven't played this game in years and truly do not remember it well enough to give rules advice! BGG is your best bet.

What you be your forever solo game?
Could you make another video using the villagers, please?

Can you please do a video about Papertown? ❤
I don't have a copy, but I'll see about it!
Good video. Thank you

Good question, the answer is no.
@@bernardokp Thanks for the reply!
Picked up a copy a while back now and it sees play pretty often when I'm eating lunch :)

Heard they were coming out with another game with similar mechanics. Wondered if I should wait or get this. KS version on site “ sold out”😞
I think Palm Island is fun, but not something I'd pay a bunch of money for a "rare" copy on the secondary market. I might wait and see.
Nice video! Wish I could find a copy... :(
The KS shipped recently, hopefully it'll hit retail soon!
In the meantime, there's a basic black-and-white print-and-play on boardgamegeek.
@@KarenSDR that's awesome! Thanks so much for letting me know! :)
FYI - Palm Island is for sale on Amazon, now. Just played through my first game and like it a lot!
What are a couple of your favorite solo playing portable games?
My favorites are Sprawlopolis and probably Mr. Cabbagehead's Garden.
