Kuta. Over 30 years ago we went on our first overseas holiday to Bali with another couple and stayed at the Ramada Bintang in Tuban. Flew Qantas, 7 days cost us more than 2 to 3 weeks now. After the first night we walked to Kuta went through the gates onto the beach and it was nearly like a religious moment because of all the stories about The Beach in Bali. Now 30 odd years later after many visits we will be back in 3 weeks. Kuta is not what it was but for Australian's it holds that first special memory in our hearts. Long live Kuta no matter what form it transforms into.

Apart from the traffic it looks a lot cleaner than before Covid when it became a ghost town. Love seeing the regular locals in the warungs along the beach. ❤

The tsunami shelter doesn’t look like it could house many ppl. Plus in the 2011 Japan tsunami it reached 54 meters high in one of the towns. So two stories doesn’t seem very protective compared to what is possible

Not much looks different in Kuta Square since I was in Bali last December. Kuta Square and a few other areas could do with a renovation. Maybe the new tourist tax could be used to fix the roads.

Where is the beach haha
The erosion continues to eat Kuta Beach and they don't do anything to restore it.
Meanwhile in Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida a Chinese investment company are building a glass Elevator and viewing platform, that will transport tourists from the top of the cliff at Kelingking Beach straight down the 182m cliffside to the beach below.- completely destroying the beautiful landscape.
You can't make this shit up.
