I believe the first player interviewed was defensive tackle Henry Jordan. He was one of two guys Lombardi fleeced from the Cleveland Browns who each went to the HOF, the other being DE Willie Davis.
The Browns seem to have got fleeced a couple different times with guys they thought we so so practice squad guys who went on to HOF careers. HOF Center Jim Langer getting snagged off their practice squad with the Dolphins come to my mind and then of course the Dolphins somehow talked them into trading them Paul Warfield.
Paul Brown did alot good but also did alot bad like dealing HOF players like Willie Davis, Dick LeBeau, and Henry Jordon and never won a title with Jim Brown. Without Otto Graham he never won the big one! 6 seasons with Jim Brown and they were 0-2 in the playoffs. Then 8 years with the Bengals and he was 0-3 in the playoffs. He never won a playoff game after Otto Graham retired! From 1950 to 55 he was 4-3 with Graham as his QB in the playoffs and then was 0-5. 4-8 in the playoffs in the NFL was nothing great!
Jordan was a small man for a DT, but had great movement and quickness. As opposed to Gregg, a big man who had the perfect build for an OT. They all realized that the difference was Lombardi.
In 1968 my Aunt and Uncle took me to my 1st NFL football game at Franklin Field to see the Eagles play the Washington Redskins and I remember my Uncle kept handing me his binoculars and pointing to this MAN with a hat and glasses and kept telling me THATS VINCE LOMBARDI. I Kept looking at him but didn't know the significance of who he was etc. I was 11, but in years past I'm glad I saw Him in the flesh.
@@joedeangelis4528 could have been. I was 11. I remember the "NIXION'S THE ONE" big banners is why I thought 68? After SBII etc. It was a pre season game against the Washington Redskins
The station is WITI-channel 6 in Milwaukee, the interviewer is sportscaster Earl Gillespie...his son John followed him as a sportscaster at the same station and can be seen hosting our local fishing show Waters and Woods...Earl was an Excellent sportscaster....RIP...
This is a very interesting video. The only flaw that comes to mind is that it could very easily have been twice as long without losing any of it's quality. Ah, well, can't have everything. Very well done. Cheers!
Lombardi took the same players who won 1 game and turned them around into Champions for years to come! Without Vince, those players would not have achieved the heights that Lombardi let them to.

Yes, the first player interviewed is Henry Jordan. An All Pro, Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive lineman. Outstanding sense of humor.

Let’s not forget Doug Atkins

And as you probably know Earl was the Milwaukee braves play by play guy

Great video about the players views on Coach Lombardi.

Poor Henry Jordon died at 42 working out.
Wow.🤔 I never knew that.🙏
Ahead of his time. Very smart. Understood early he had to be a legend. Multi-faceted
And don't forget that both Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry were coaches for the New York Giants under Jim Lee Howell
Sounds like Bill Walsh when he gave up the coaching job after winning Super Bowl 23...
Must have been a Milwaukee TV station there is no channel 6 in Green Bay
Yes it's a Milwaukee TV station I believe WITI been I while since I was in Suds City.
I believe WITI in Milwaukee.
What they are unaware of is that Packers are about to enter into a deep, dark 25-year world of ineptness.
I don't recognize the man at 3:00
That might be WR Boyd Dowler. The player speaks of playing in Washington. Dowler followed Lombardi in going from the Packers to the Redskins.
I think it's a Washington player. He compares Lombardi to Otto Graham, who was head coach in DC just prior to Vince taking that job.
@@frankmacy1879 Nope not Boyd Dowler, don’t know who he is.
How about DB Pat Fischer ?
I'm pretty sure he's TE Pat Richter
