About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

I laughed so hard... My husband really took a marker to the hospital and he really marked our twins with A and B to make sure he don't get confused 🤣
Brilliant 😂
😂😂😂❤❤😂😂😂
SAME
🤣🤣
As much as I know that a lot of the things he said were joking but with a fair amount of truth behind them, I was laughing my butt off watching this. Heidi is a pro at dealing with her husband's shenanigans and y'all are hilarious to watch!!
I highly recommend two small bags. One for labor and delivery, and one for newborn phase. They usually move you after the baby is born, so there's no point unpacking the nursing pillow and the baby clothes etc, just to move all that stuff again.
When he pulled out the sharpie I knew immediately what it was for, Dwight Shrute would be proud
I'm sitting here 6 months pregnant laughing out loud! Thank you for sharing! Love you guys!
so u 9 months now
So funny. Now that I watched Otto’s birth story first I got an explanation for the air fryer, the fixing things and the farts.
Bring the baby book and ask them to put their footprint in it for you, they do it all the time and are really good at it. I also had a few copies of my birth plan, researched, realistic, doctor approved, and bullet points. First I figured out what I wanted (see the movie "Business of Being Born") and it was the nurses at the hospital that gave me a list of doctors I could go with and who to avoid at all costs based on what I wanted help with and what I wanted to avoid, they said not to go with the doctors who have MOST of their patients have very false "emergency" c-sections where the doctor LIES. Being that I want/wanted 4+ kids it was more important for me not to have a c-section. I have had four kids with two GREAT doctors. Things like APGAR on chest and to nurse right away was important to me. My doctor knew I wanted more than 3 kids so to avoid c-section and interventions that lead to c-sections at all costs including rare recommends like diation to correct instead of accept typical end of pregancy health issues. I also wanted it clear that I only felt comfortable with gravity assisted or hands and knees (if back laboring) birth and I did push and give birth in squat and not back or even side (at each birth a nurse saw this for the first time and were amazed at how much easier it is for the mother). I didn't even want to be offered an epidural, so they didn't and made sure the nurse that worked with me knew about natural pain relief, although one nurse did dismiss another nurse who didn't get that you don't loudly bug a naturally birthing mother during contraction. Few doctors are trained in how thing happen naturally, and statistically speaking they are not trained in how to assist women in the ways proven to be truly safest and reduce pain. My point is if you want something on your birth plan that starts months before the labor as you find the doctor, and bring copies of that list that day because having the greatest of doctors doesn't matter if you get the wrong nurse, I believe having that list helped me get the right nurses, and even when I got the wrong nurse one of the other nurses saw it and changed places with her. I wasn't difficult, I actually was complimented on being one of the best people to work with, because I was honest, upfront, realistic, and actually prepared and willing to do the hard work on my side to have a safe birth. That included working with a doula, dietitian, and pre-natual fitness instructor. It honestly cost me out of pocket only $500 more per birth and it was worth it. I choose hospital births, had I gone with a mid-wife wanting the same things I would have saved 3,000 each. Even if you're not about to give birth, we all talk to women who give birth, watch, "The Business of Being Born." It's older(ish) now, but much of it still stands and addresses people's concerns that they might have with what I am saying. But my point is not to give birth in my style, if you want your second kid via c-section followed by tubes tied you also can follow the same advice and ask the nurses at the hospital who the best surgeon is for you and to have a list of what you want so no one is bugging you, literally part of a birth plan can be about who you don't want bugging you. : ) Bring your birth plan and baby book.
We had our fourth child last night and during labor my wife told me I failed because I forgot the air fryer and tenders
Did anyone else notice that Taylor used all his stuff in Ottos birth video?? 🤣
Lol the first ones so true 👍 the first things the wife lol. Dude wish I had thought to bring jerky instead of spending 30 bucks in the crappy vending machines 😕 😅
Where did you get your robe? It’s sooo cute!!
I love how fun you make these super useful tips! We're prepping for our first baby and I bought one of them pregnancy planner books and we started looking at the hospital bag checklist. My husband was amazed at how much was on the checklist! There was a bag for labor and a separate checklist for a bag for postpartum! Who would have thought! He's like what undies that's it what more could you need? I'll show him this.
An Air Fryer !!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 your husband is too funny. That's a cool idea .
actually, you're onto something with that air fryer in the hospital room. GENIUS!
My dad colored my toenail with a sharpie for that reason. No joke!🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️😂
Ufhh we brought sooo much and eventually most stuff we had was already provided by the hospital. 😅 Also they told us we'd have a large baby so we had the wrong size of clothes with us cuz he was just normal size. 🤦🏾♀️
We brought bags of beef jerky 😂 it really does help
I’d also just share my hospital meals with the husband since yeah, they didn’t feed him
Hm now that I think about it, I brought snacks both times too. I should really remember to do it this time, they came in handy.
"I'm a nervous farter." He proved it during this labor.
Indeed he did 😂
Y'all are freakin' adorable.
Hilarious , love the videos
It’s so awesome to be home and not have to pack a bag or bring anything. To have good healthy food available and anything else that I might suddenly want when baby is born ☺️ 3 out of 4 have been born at home
Missed baby mittens and baby nail clippers (if the onesie sleeves lack fold over flaps). My kiddos scratched themselves pretty quickly. A headlamp would have been helpful for nail trimming
My wife is 36 weeks and we have 2 massive bags packed with everything you could possibly imagine … I will have the clothes on my back lol
I'm sitting here watching this when they had there baby, 🤣
Popsicles for mom! Technically it’s ice. Ice is allowed.
Lol, I couldn't understand who this guy reminded me of until the beef jerky was brought up. Crazy.
Where did she get her nursing bra? That is GORGEOUS!!! 😍😍😍
The marker is actually a seriously good idea. I know this is meant to be a fun video and it actually is I laugh my ass off however there is some very serious truth to what he says about babies being switched around.
Best advice I was ever given to bring to the hospital was women diapers. That way when guest come in, you don't have to worry about bleed through your pants. No one knew I had one on except my husband.
Kudos to the charging bank! When I got moved out of recovery to the maternity ward we had the tiniest little stalls (the nurse had to pretty much walk through the next one to check on my IV) and I had one outlet to choose between my IV and the pump the hospital loaned to me and another low grade one on the other side of my bed I could stretch my phone cord from if my husband plugged it in for me. Next time I might bring at least two!
I chuckled at the permanent marker! My mom would draw little hearts on our feet (but I don't think she used sharpie). Bring two going-home outfits in case of blowout right before you leave, and make sure there are legs (so the baby can actually ride in a car seat)!
I packed a bunch of things to do, but honestly I mostly slept and watched TV, especially when I was in labor. I would recommend a comfortable going-home outfit for the mom (I had the softest, stretchiest PJs my mom gifted to me at the shower) and a hoodie. When I tried walking down to NICU (by myself) it was chilly in the halls and I was glad for the extra covering over the nursing hospital gown.
Love your videos
"where is my 10mm?"
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
I love you guys. I’m pregnant with my first baby and you guys give great advice
Just watched this while packing our hospital bag! Baby is coming soon!
Hilarious!!
Adding a marker to my hospital bag right now!
Dads need food. Beef jerky...good idea!
Where is that nursing bra from??? Cute!!
I really want to know where the nursing bra is from. I have been looking g everywhere!
Honestly the air fryer idea would be great as long as you had a place to keep the frozen food !!!!!🤣
No joke about the beef jerky. I’ve packed it for my husband every time. And every time, he’s stoked and it DEFINITELY gets utilized lol
Y'all rock!!!! 😅😅
Thanks for tips on what to bring when I AM A LOT OLDER
Before I watched these vids I coulda cared less about chicken tenders. I mean, they weren't EVEN on my radar. NOW, all I can think about is getting an air fryer and cookin' up some tendies and tots.
A warm robe since the hospital seems way to cold, and the blankets are thin lose knit useless things
Hubby brought underwear, a laptop, beer, and a tumbler for the second birth 🤣🤣🤣
I always need my slippers. Cant handle stepping on the cold hospital floors
Where did she get that robe? Or at least what's that material? That looks like a kind of robe I would like and would be okay with my sensory issues.
First time mom...THANK YOU!!!
Note to self: Tell husband to bring sharpie to hospital
Food suggestion: ready pasta & rice.
I didn’t know about the spanx this is super helpful though
I'm about to be there...maybe lol
Where were you guys 24 years ago when I was having my daughter, lol❤️😂😳😘
I loved that. First item.
Taylor: you
Mothers are not "allowed" to eat during labour? What nonsense is this?
It’s in case of a emergency
If you need a c-section you shouldn’t eat before surgery due to aspiration which is when you vomit due to anesthetics and it goes back down into your lungs
Need that beer cooler my dude
Is air fryer allowed to bring in maternity ward?
Diffuser and essential oils!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 A beautiful couple 💑 and a great 👍 Family 👪❤. Family is the way to create generational wealth 😀. Wealth is NOT money.
Uncle Charlie’s jerky 😄
I also tool beef jerky to the hospital. My idea. But husband ate most of it.
Play time no socket set
😅🤣
This whole we are pregnant thing is ridiculous to me … I didn’t do anything but drink too much one night lol
Can you please tell me the brand of nursing bra??
Beer. I heard it's good for Breast feeding
The wife is right you need more than 6 items
I’m confused...
This is from one year ago and they just made a pregnancy announcement but Otto looks older than a year old.
He’s only 1 but yes I agree he looks 2
And there is a medical reason they dont let you eat during labor lol
Headphones!!!
Ima bout have a baby
Congratulations!!:) praying everything goes well!
