Hi, Todd; I'll bet you're talking to Phil W. out of Lower MI. I've bought a lot of parts for my XCR's from him. He's damn near genius ( if not genius) w/ regards to his understanding and experience w/forced induction on 2S motors. He's a Good man and knows his stuff. Look forward to your future build.
Todd those are called power jet carbs , they work awesome on a none turbo sled , but the designed them in the 70 s into the 80s I put a set on a super scorpion sting 440 and it was a rocket
Nice shop, nice sleds you have Todd. I always have big eyes for these old iron... especially the super junk ones...I get caught up in saving them. Most nights I spend changing out jack shaft bearings and recovering seats...rebuilding motors....sending out cranks, track replacements...it is nice every once in a while to have a cherry like this xlt, where the work you put in is just the fun stuff (less rusted, knuckle busting labor 😂)....Good to see you still getting it done! Have a great day, both of you guys.
@@ec65pl02 geeze you sound just like us when looking for one to buy 😂😂. Go look at the cherry one and end up buying the forgotten pile of crap behind the garage 🤣🤣
@@toddclyne3493 yep, nothing is more exciting then when they say, hey, you like sleds right? I bought an 89 650 w decker pipes from a guy....went there just for that. I went to pay him and he says. Keep saving the junk Todd, they won't be around forever!
FWIW I remember guys running turbos on the old indy wedge sleds. There were a number of guys using them in the mountains and they worked well. Especially at altitude compared to the low powered sleds we had back then. Anyway where I am going with this is the Indy 500 turbos worked well and were quite reliable. However, the 650's made a ton more power but blew up on a regular basis. Be cautious with your octane, I think the problem back in the day was the higher compression in the 650's vs the 500's. Have fun I am looking forward to seeing your next project.
That is a great donar for the 650. The ACCS wis a great system for the huge elevation changes we have as long as the bellows doesn't go bad. My 97 rmk had a bad bellows so I deleted it and just jetted for 9000.
@@toddclyne3493 yeah, I'd definitely just run it. They are super convenient if the buyer ever goes somewhere to ride at different elevations. That person is definitely getting a great sled.

xtra 10 wedge RMK tunnel, vs 121 wedge tunnel. i look over the undercarriage bolts. look for any cracks around foot well. i'v seen them cracked. also the jack shaft bearing triangle. i'v seen those old collar bearings with hex key fail. lock up. and take out the tunnel. $2500 nice deal. About time we get a little update! What day is Princeton? Maybe I can make it it's a short drive for me. Also any part #s on that turbo I might try to find one for my sled be easier than doing an oiling system..
