  • We decided to spice up our church stage with these light panels. The led strips are RGB and run into a 24 channel dmx decoder (2 @ 24channels ea) the decoder a have enough channels to power each light panel individually. They look amazing and it's really nice to be able to creating movements with the music.

    Thank you so much for posting this. We just opened a production of "Mean Girls" using the process in this video, and it's working wonderfully (knock wood!) The photos emphasize the edges more than they are in real life. They're actually pretty flat in color. Prices have gone up considerably in the intervening years, but it's still cost-effective. Thanks again!

      If you put clips on the front side of your boxes you can clip overlays onto it to make designs. Like black Lattice make the light come out in diamonds, or even the Ping pong balls iverlay in the other video

      @@lanewright1439 Do you have a link to what type of clips you had in mind?

    What kind of DMX controller & Power Supply Unit did you use? The problem I have had in my research is getting both signal and power to my designs. Each pyramid that would be located at the front of the stage is separated by about 30ft, so running a wire is not the best solution.

    If you attached the LED strips to the steel you'd benefit the LEDs with the extra (important) cooling, plus the reflective properties of the metal.

      there is no heat dissipation needed. The led strips are nearly cool to the touch. plus steel is way more expensive and heavy.

    Looks like I found this 2 years after everyone else.... How did you attach the polyethylene (HDPE) sheet to your frame? Thank you!

    • @newlfmusic
      @newlfmusic  2 роки тому

      HDPE was attached by screwing self tapping screws into the aluminum studs. If you want to pre-drill that might help, but the HDPE is so soft, it went right through with ease.

    Is there a reason why you used the polyethylene on front instead of more coroplast?

    • @newlfmusic
      @newlfmusic  6 років тому

      Polyethelene is more translucent.It's density allows light to be trapped and redistributed. Coroplast is more of a reflector. This is why we lined the inside with it. The LED strips are allowed to bounced quite a few times off each other. it was 16 gauge PE.

    Ok I found this just recently. Don't know if it is still followed or not. I am going to make 6 of these, 8ft tall, so each will use 1 string of lights. Does that mean I'll need 6 power cords? Then how do I control all the lights? Do I need 6 controllers? I've never done this before

    • @newlfmusic
      @newlfmusic  2 роки тому

      you will need 6 power supplies, but can control the lights "in unison" with one 3 channel dmx controller. If you want to control each light individually, you will want a controller that has available channels per led strip. (example: if you want to control 6 light panels you will need a total of 18 available dmx channels for the RGB (3ch's)

    Is that white or natural coroplast?

    Too bad they flicker 😞

      +Cole Haaf actually , that was just that particular shot. We don't have any flicker issues

      It only looks like it flickers because of the frame rate of the recording. Should be perfectly fine in person.
