A native of South London, with Greek and Jamaican parents, La Havas began teaching herself to play piano, write songs, and sing at the age of seven. Her family’s diverse taste was very influential, when she was a child, her grandparents babysat her often: “They’re from Jamaica, so when I was growing up I listened to a lot of religious reggae-almost hymns, but in a reggae style-on cassettes. But at the same time my mother was listening to a lot of '80s and '90s Michael Jackson, and Mary J Blige, who I loved from a very early age. Plus India Arie, Jill Scott and The Fugees”.
Lianne’s biggest hits include “Green and Gold”, “Unstoppable”, “Gone”, as well as an incredible cover of Dionne Warwick’s “I Say a Little Prayer”, and a show stopping Tiny Desk performance for NPR Music. Her catalogue also includes the albums “Blood” and “Is Your Love Big Enough”

Lianne La Havas inspires me. I come from a predominately white school in a predominately white town, and I am african amercian, and have the same hair, body, and skin color as Lianne. It really gets me down thinking I won't fit in here, but after watching her videos and listening to her music, I feel much better about myself. 90% of my attention was on that majestic hair. What products does she use? Is it easy to comb it?
I watched a video on her hair since I have hair just like her just a male version she moisturize and plats it every night just like I do and I forgot the name of products she uses, have to watch the video again.
Also for me no it's not easy to comb since my curls get caught and end up either breaking the comb or tearing my hair.
My hair's big and the same texture as Lianne's. I always start patiently at the ends of my hair and go throughout my head separating some ends with my fingers first. Patience is important! After my fingers start the help I still gently use a wide toothed comb. Sometimes I spray a little water as I go, section by section or apply some product to make combing easier and not break my hair although it's quite strong!

yes they have similar energy to them, and the human analytical mind likes to make comparisons. when we get out of that though, we do see them as just artists, creators channeling their impulse into music. I used to think in terms of comparisons like the commenter, but more and more i see every artist as a unique impulse of their own beings, and of course some will happen to have similarities
She's so extremely lucky that she gets to live her dream, and do what she loves while still being true to herself and free from the weight of social expectations. I hope one day I can feel that free. Jamie andNikki I'm just hearing this for the first time. I'll have to listen to it and some of the other songs a bit and maybe it will grow on me. The rawness of LIanne's sound seems to be gone and I don't hear her guitar anymore. Lots of synths and production here. This sounds like a James Bond theme to me.
I loved the simplicity of songs like "Tease Me" and songs that just had a small band.
She's evolving as an artist, I suppose, and that amazing voice is still there, but I don't really want it hidden by too much clutter. Sometimes less is more. I remember thinking the same thing about EWF. I lost interest in them when everything by them started sounding over produced. Just my opinion.
