As a tourist staying around North Point are there any particular areas I should visit in the east this December? I have been to the popular areas in HK island, Kowloon, Disneyland etc, and am looking for new areas in the east, something reflective of HK life or anything interesting would be worth a visit…Thanks!
If you're staying around North Point and looking to explore the eastern part of Hong Kong in December, there are several areas and attractions you might find interesting. These areas offer a glimpse into the local culture and lifestyle.
* Quarry Bay: Quarry Bay is just next to North Point and is known for its unique blend of modern architecture and traditional Hong Kong life. You can explore the vibrant street art in the area, especially around the Montane Mansion and Yick Cheong Building. Taikoo Place, a bustling business district, is also worth a visit for its shopping, dining, and cultural events.
* Shau Kei Wan: This neighborhood retains a more traditional Hong Kong atmosphere. Visit Shau Kei Wan Market to experience a bustling local market scene. You can also hike up to the Shau Kei Wan Tree Walk and the Cape Collinson Cemetery for beautiful views of the area.
* Stanley: While Stanley is on the southern side of Hong Kong Island, it's easily accessible from North Point. You can take a bus or taxi to get there. Stanley is famous for its picturesque waterfront, bustling markets, and the historic Murray House. It's a great place to enjoy a leisurely day and experience a different side of Hong Kong.
* Shek O: Located in the southeastern part of Hong Kong Island, Shek O is a beach town with a laid-back atmosphere. You can relax on the sandy beaches, hike along Dragon's Back for scenic views, and enjoy fresh seafood at the local restaurants.
* Tung Lung Chau: If you're interested in outdoor activities, you can take a short ferry ride from Sai Wan Ho Pier to Tung Lung Chau. This island offers hiking trails, a historic fort, and beautiful coastal scenery.
* Chai Wan: Chai Wan is known for its art and creative scene. Visit the Chai Wan Industrial City, a hub for local artists and designers, to explore galleries and art spaces. The Hong Kong Film Archive is also located here, offering insights into the city's cinematic history.
* Aberdeen: Although it's not in the eastern part of Hong Kong Island, Aberdeen offers a glimpse into the traditional fishing village lifestyle. You can take a sampan ride in the harbor and explore the floating seafood market.
* Lamma Island: Take a ferry from North Point to Lamma Island for a peaceful escape from the city. Lamma Island is known for its hiking trails, scenic landscapes, and seafood restaurants. It's a great place to enjoy nature and local cuisine.
Remember that December is a pleasant time to explore Hong Kong with cooler temperatures. These areas will give you a more local and unique experience beyond the typical tourist spots.

49:31 this buildings... i assume the room size is small because all of them using window ac. 😮
Thank you for your comment! You've made an insightful observation about the window AC units in the buildings. It's true that in densely populated areas like Hong Kong, smaller room sizes are common. I apologize for the delayed response, but I appreciate your keen observation. If you have any more questions or observations, feel free to share. Your interest in the video is valued. Thank you for watching!🙏😊
