Great review! So the second cab is the 1200 watt version? The second cab just had more of everything. More lows, more clarity & smoother sounding. Do a review of the 115 please~ maybe alone & then with the 210
Very interesting. No, the 800W one was second. With its heavier magnets, one would expect the 1200W version to have more lows. You have made me wonder whether the distance from the speaker grille to the mics was identical in both tests. I did mark the spot on the floor with tape and made every effort to have them in EXACTLY the same spot. But maybe they weren't. I have just updated the video description to include a link to the cellphone video of this same demo. That will more accurately reflect what it sounds like 12 feet away instead of listening to the cabinets via mics sitting right against the grille. Maybe give that video a listen and see if you have the same conclusion. I also wonder if speaker break-in is a factor. The 800W one was played through for at least 60 minutes before making this video, while the 1200W one was only played through for about 10 or maybe 15 minutes before making this video. Not sure how much break-in they do at the factory, if any.
@@JohnFoxBass I guess I'm getting old (57)~ the larger the diameter of the speaker, the more I like them. I graduated from hight school in 1984~ right in the middle of the medal years & I was smack dab in the middle of it. I was playing through two 2x15 Yamaha cabs and a 300 watt Sunn Coliseum head. The sound was loud, clear & pristine. Oh & my bass was the new at the time G&L L2000. I got a world of poop for the next 10 years with everyone asking me "Why aren't you playing Fender through Ampeg". Now it seems that most modern bass amp makers are going after the sound that I achieved at age 16 with money from mowing lawns. I'll have to come to your shop & plug in sometime in 2024. Don't be surprised if I end up with a Dual 1400 & three 1x15s~ that head's 2.67ohm available load would be perfect for that. I'm wondering if GR is going to come out with any new anything. I asked Mr. Rizzi on Facebook with Google translator if he would consider 1) Adding a compressor to his heads (he's already got one in his preamp) and 2) coming out with a 2x15 slim. I would absolutely get two of those cabs to recreate my high school rig without the 126lb weight of them.
