    When you put her in a down wait a few seconds before clicking and treating. This is how I taught mine to hold a command like wait or hold. Shes doing awesome btw! :D

    My favorite is when people bend down and go “I know I can’t pet you but you’re so cute!” What I hate is because of some of my issues I usually go mute and can’t speak to people. So I can’t say anything! It’s so annoying

    I know the "uh oh I'm out of treats" feeling 😂My boy can work without treats but I feel bad because he's still training and only 6 months old so once I opened a bag I was about to buy and just used them :p also you're so good at working with a dog in training AND talking to someone AND actually doing your shopping! I can manage two at a time... at a push!

    Doing great! It almost seemed that she did better without the treats. ??? She appeared excited for the treat and you had to do more to regain her focus. I agree treats are needed to train them, but she almost seemed to be okay without, so maybe you can already start treating everyother click?
    Speaking of focus......what an incredible start to a focus while walking. I still can't get my girl to walk any distance while looking at me. She looks at me with solid eye contact, not just "mooning" me with her eyes!, but doesn't hold the focus long. Oh well, they all have their quirks!
    Our Gentle Leader always gets loose too! They need to add the second buckle thingy so it will stay put.
    Yay for you! Doing so well while dealing with stupid adults. Lol. Why do people have to ask questions that involve stopping you and taking time while you are working so hard? Piece it together people! Two dogs. One old, one a puppy. They all guessed right, even so, you are busy and don't need to explain yourself every aisle!
    Keep it it up! I love your shopping videos!

      I thought the same thing. She seemed calmer and more focused without treats. I’d still have some on hand, but wouldn’t give so many. And having conversations with others can be a good part of training as well. As long as the other person isn’t focused on the dog. It helps so the person can talk to others and the SD can remain focused and not get distracted so easy.

    Awesome job as always sweet Mya!!!, Love how well she responds when u ask her to focus back on u even with all the distractions and I could tell u were getting a little irritated with people purposely wanting to distract them 😂😂, it’s ok, I’d be the same way 😁😁, U shouldn’t even have to say anything at this point cause it’s happened so many times, people really need to realize that usually when a dog walks into a public place with a vest on it usually means they r working, but I love the way handle those type of situations 🥰, also your intro song totally fits your channel and I love the pictures too 🥰🥰.

    In the near future I will be looking into getting a new prospect so Archie can retire (as of age, hes still got 2/3:years left before retirement unless he makes it clear otherwise) Definitely want the puppy to learn from Archie of what's expected like Mia learnt from Max

    She’s doing awesome and she’s getting sooo big Max seems so tired😩. I have a question if you see this so I’m training my puppy to be a service dog and he wasn’t socialized right because we got him during quarantine and no one could pet him and now he’s scared of people a little bit he won’t bite or anything do you know how to train out of that? Also what’s that blue thing you have that says Kurgo

    • @maxinestewart9483
      @maxinestewart9483 4 роки тому +5

      The best way to train that out is socializing your puppy with many ppl, kids, adults and babies while rewarding for good behavior and calmness when your puppy is comfortable or show signs that they are relaxing around them.

    I know it’s frustrating but please understand that a lot of adults that’s never been around a service dog, does not know you’re not supposed to interact with them. I was one of those adults till I saw your videos.

    • @Kearadelaney

    • @ernestminnix468

      So how would you no if that dog could be a good dog for you medical needs that something to do with medical illness

    • @Kearadelaney
      @Kearadelaney 4 роки тому +2

      Ernest Minnix you can train her to do mobility ptsd respons and other tasks to help someone with a disability max is trained with light mobility like forward momentum pull and medical alert witch she could not train him to do the dog just Sences it mya is hopefully going to pick up on medical alert but if she doesn’t she can still do mobility and respons my first SD did mobility because she did not pick up on medical alert and my current SD dose medical alert as she pick right up on it

    • @ServiceDogPaws
      @ServiceDogPaws  4 роки тому +4

      Medical alerts are absolutely trainable. Diabetic alert dogs are trained. Cardiac alert dogs are trained. My condition is no different. It's based off of scent training. Although some dogs naturally pick up on it.

    • @Kearadelaney

      Service Dog Paws oh wow! I thought it was all on what the dog could Sence! That is amazing my dog just picked it up as an 8 week old puppy! She just wouldn’t stop barking at me one day and the. 20 mins later I was on the couch half passed out! Thank you for educating me! I gusse even when you ate an SD handler for years you still learn something new every day!

    I'm not trying to accuse or anything, but at 8:32 it looked like you pulled on Mya's gentle leader a little too rough, isn't it bad to make pulling corrections with a gentle leader?
    Well now i'm watching more and it looks like you pulled/yanked on it more than once.
    And it seems like Mya keeps wanting to greet others, I understand she's in training, but don't you think you should work in pet friendly places (Lowe's, tractor supplys, etc) until she gets out of that habit?

    • @ServiceDogPaws
      @ServiceDogPaws  4 роки тому +2

      I'm not yanking on it by no means. I'm very gentle with any sort of pressure. And she can learn anywhere to ignore people. She stays under control. She refocuses. If she didn't, that would be a different story.
