I think Paul Heyman said it perfectly: you can admire what Chris Benoit did professionally but at the end of the day, he did something /horrific/ and inexcusable and ended his life be it out of guilt or what have you.
Three people died, one person was aware of what he was doing.
Idk about aware if u think about if....what if it was your family member father grandpa uncle etc any family even females who suffer from CTE AND concussion injurys over the years....there not exactly in control of your actions after your brain has multiple layers of damage and dead proteins and dead nerve cells....if your family member decided one night to go into your room and strangle or kill your sis brother nephew anyone....would you say the same thing....would you defend that family who suffered from a disease that nobody really knew about especially in 2006-2007....when we didn't know shit about brain damage or what concussions did to peoples mental health.....think about it yes 3 people died that night....but WWE had the option to retire Chris even after Guerrero passed away....WWE COULD HAVE SAVED HIM HIS FAMILY AND HIS WRESTLING LEGACY.....BUT NAH THEY WOULD RATHER MAKE A MAN WORK TILL THERE WASNT EVEN A TRACE OF HUMANITY LEFT.....THEY RESPONSIBLE IN MY EYES NOT ONLY FOR CHRIS BUT AS WELL AS OWEN HART AND MANY OTHER STARS
One big problem with this story... there was no Benoit match at WM18. There was no PLANNED Benoit match for WM18. Benoit was injured for a year, and didn't wrestle a match in 2002 until July.

Amazing how people will love Benoit or anyone who is a murderer to this day, just because they were great at something or their work was admirable. Benoit being a good wrestler doesn't excuse what he did. Not even CTE.
I'm With Paul When It Comes Chris
“Who’s saying ‘my boy?’ Why? Why? Yeah you can admire his work all you want, but I’ll give you my take on it since you keep on yelling out ‘my boy’-three people died in that house that night, three. I don’t care about CTE, three people died in that house that night, only one person had the choice behind it. The other two didn’t have a choice to die. So if that’s your boy, Fook you. As a performer, amongst the five greatest I’ve ever seen in my entire life. As a performer, loved having him in ECW, was going to make him the ECW World Heavyweight Champion, was going to put him in a feud with Eddie Guerrero that would have carried us. The very first PPV was going to be Sabu vs. Taz, Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven, Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero. If we had gone on PPV in ’96, that would have been our first PPV. So as a talent, remarkable. As a human being, I don’t care about CTE, I don’t care what the reasons are, Nancy and Daniel had no option, he did. Fook him.” - Paul Heyman courtesy of Wrestlefix.com
Great story telling.
Damn after listening to Paul talk about Benoit, it makes me wonder where WWE would've been if Benoit controversy didn't happen.
He’s the reason wwe went PG. people blame Cena cause they don’t want to admit their darling Benoit did anything wrong.
I dare say that if Chris Benoit was at the arena THE NIGHT HE DIED he would have be alive and well right now. Former ECW champion, hall of famer right now. I only wish he would have gotten help
Wrestling is the reason why he is not alive
@@Saurabhrkohardy not true. He took time to do that on his own free will.. wrestling does a lot of things but it DOES NOT in anyway condone that
So that’s why Benoit randomly got picked #3 in the draft (before Hulk fucking Hogan) for Smackdown and then just randomly returned on Raw.
The thing, I'll always think about Brock Lesnar is, untapped potential. Yeah he's a monster, yeah he's a beast...............I just think, he could have been more!
His matches with Angle & Benoit show he could've been more. He just doesn't love pro wrestling. It's a check for him.
For Paul to ignore the CTE part is incredibly ignorant.
he still murdered 2 people not ignorant at all
wulf xan If you refuse to understand how complex the brain is and how damage to the brain literally takes a person hostage, it’s completely ignorant. To say “I don’t care about CTE, fuck him” is so fucking ignorant it’s insane. If Benoit had only killed himself, it would have been a completely separate feel but because the damage to his brain was so drastic (the literal brain of a 80+ year old Alzheimer’s patient) it took innocent peoples lives it’s “fuck Benoit” and not “fuck the work environment of that time”
Work environment? He was a grown ass man! If he had health problems, or was hurting himself go seek help. There’s no excuse for murdering your wife, and a fucking child!
Javier Atwood Yes the work environment. And if you don’t know the wrestling world was incredibly different prior to this. It was work, or no work and when Benoit would feel he wasn’t right the medical team constantly said he was alright. They don’t get life insurance and it’s well known the malpractice that has taken place in WWE for decades. Only reason things changed for the better was because of this situation. It was bound to happen because sadly it needed to happen in order for change to take place. Otherwise they wouldn’t have so many CTE lawsuits against them. No one’s giving you an excuse, we’re giving you the why it happened and why not a single victim had a choice in the matter
Jeff Pryce If they’re willing to ignore the why’s (which they aren’t) I’d gladly explain it all to them. But you can’t do that to a victim’s family. Another example, Owen’s accident. No matter what we say, Owen’s wife will never forgive the WWE.
