2022 was the 5th straight year in which the rate of homicide mortality in Mississippi (20.7 per 100k) was higher than any other state based on coroner data of the CDC, while 2022 was the 34th straight year in which the rate of murder and non-negligent manslaughter in Louisiana (16.1 per 100k) was higher than any other state based on law enforcement data of the FBI.
I would say not to be too worried considering that more than 1 lakh students go to study in the USA per year this isn't even 1% of the students 15/100000. More people die of road accidents in India, doesn't mean people should stop driving. While the safety questions are valid, when same questions are asked about India people say don't generalize etc. Then again in spite of green card backlog, cost of education, mass layoffs, cost of living, gun problems etc if USA is still the most sought-after destination it means in the end all of this doesn't matter to most of the people. As long as USA has its wow factor people will still come.
There's some truth to what you say. However, I want to present both side of the story, so talking about safety is important too. In the end, everyone has to decide based on their comfort level.
Mam how is University of South Carolina and California state university. As both states you mentioned under dangerous states. If admitted which should be considered among 2?
When I lived in US, I could see at least 6 NYPD helicopters circling the New York city at any given time. But no matter how powerful the police, US has reported many anti-immigrant crimes lately. In 2024 alone, 15+ Indians have died in US (11-12 died an unnatural death, 7-8 can be attributed to street/hate crimes). It is natural to ask - Is it safe to study in US anymore? Hope you will find this video useful in making your study abroad decision.
