'That's before everyone moved to NEW MEXICO!' Got a sad bit of information about that lyric, When asked what it meant he said it was how he dealt with all his friends who overdosed and died, He would just say "They moved to New Mexico' if anyone ever asked about them, to mentally deal with it. Gives you a whole new perspective
Yeah that makes a lot of sense, especially since he makes several references to new mexico and death. The clearest one to me is in "your heart is a muscle the size of your fist" when he sings "He said he needed somebody to take care of his pets Because he was going out of town I asked him, "where?" and he said, "New Mexico" I asked if I could get a ride He said, "no, you don't want to follow me Where it is that I'm going" He backed out of the drive way; it was the last time we saw him"
The lyric that when i heard initially as a veteran was the lines: “and if im not marching with them to war.” “Im sure not marching with you for peace.” Hits fucking hard it’s crazy how a song can mean so many different things to people
I like the feeling behind your voice. You can hear passion and emotion behind it.... one of the toughest skills with singing to learn. It's usual a natural thing you have or you don't. Some singers are super technically talented but it sounds almost hallow like a choir it looses it's feel behind the words.
Wowie, you have such a good voice. I wish I could be at your level but I'm currently trying to learn my first song on guitar that includes singing and playing at the same time, which is Never Coming Home(Song for the Guilty). Pretty difficult to me since my brain is already wired to just play guitar and not sing at the same time, but I have about half of it down pretty well. I plan on playing it for my girlfriend and she'll pretty much be the first person I've sang to since I'm self conscious about singing. I know she'll love it regardless of how well I do, though, so I'm confident about it :3 Keep on makin' dem folk punk covers
