A great money saving skill to learn. That is great that your guy does it for you. Did he suggest that he could cut your hair or did you ask him? My husband is the family barber and stylist, I take a seat on the stool, get caped and get my long hair trimmed every couple months. He gives my boys their haircuts every three weeks. It is so convenient and it takes him about twenty minutes to trim my hair, ten minutes each to give my boys theirs. That is less time than it would just to drive one way to a shop, let alone the waiting time once you get there. And there the stylists do what they want rather than what you ask for, that is why I accepted the offer by my guy to give me a haircut, when I told him that I needed one. I estimate that it saves us over a grand a year. At first my mom and a couple friends thought it was odd that I had him cut my hair, but they liked his work, and he has since given haircuts to my mom and a couple friends of mine, they like skipping the salon and getting a free haircut. I do suggest that you invest in a decent cape to keep the itchy clippings off your clothes.
Yes it’s a great skill! My bf has been doing his own hair since before we even met & ive always watched him do his own. Eventually I was like “do u wanna just do mine too?” And he was totally down for it! Ever since I’ve never been back to the salon. But the hair clippings do not bother me because I just hop in the shower right after! 🙌🏼
I figure 17 haircuts each for my two teen boys at $25 for a decent haircut that is $850, 6 haircuts for me at $100 each is $600, so $1450, plus hubby does his own every few weeks, and that is not even adding in the transportation costs we are not incurring. Hubby has my boys get a shower even though he uses a cape on them as the short hairs from clippers over the comb cutting on their hair doesn’t all fall on the barber cape. Mine reaches to my elbows, so all the clippings slide down the cape onto the floor. Hubby gave a friend of mine a short pixie cut a couple months ago using the clippers and she rinsed her hair afterwards, just to get the loose clippings out of her hair. Hubby always uses a cape, even on a coworker of my best friend last year at a barbecue when she wanted her hair that reached past her butt, cut to her hips. Her ends were badly damaged and looked quite straggly before he cut it. She was ready to cut her hair herself with craft shears, as she wanted it cut, but hated going to the salon.
