Young man, you are correct.Yes, Ms. Donna was FANTASTIC! I remember this performance during the 1984 Oscars. Ms. Donna also excelled at ballads. I recommend "On my honor", "Can't we just sit down and talk it over?" and "heaven's just a whisper away". I am Ms. Summer's #1 fan and will try to think of other ballads to recommend to you.
Donna Summer is the greatest ballads singer! Thanks for your Donna Summer's songs reactions. Her ballads catalog it is huge, beautiful, amazing, and spectacular, that I love it so much. Please react for her studio versions: "Wishpering Waves", "Winter Melody" , "Once Upon A Time" (theme), "A Man Like You", "Sweet Romance", "The Woman In Me", "I'm A Raimbow", "You To Me", "Friends Unknows" and many more. Each Donna Summer song it is a beautiful yewell! Blessings to everybody! William Rodríguez-Zayas, from my gorgeous Island of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. The Enchatment Island. The Island Of The Lamb Of GOD. Amen.
A M A Z I N G !!!!! She is a Force of Nature ✨. Thank you for this Reaction Long live the Queen 👑👑👑💜💜💜. Check out ‘ If it hurts just a little ‘ , Donna produced by Quincy Jones, not a ballad but a Fierce Ass Song and Vocals 🤩🤩🤩
Donna was called the day before the ceremony by Barbra who asked her to fill in for her. The story was Barbra came down with the flu, many in the media although speculated that it might have something to do with Barbra having stage fright, which is why she performed so rarely. I think she has performed more in the last decade or so. then she ever has, by the year to 2004 or 05; Streisand had only perform 43 concerts in her career. In response to Donna's ballads 'Can't We Just Sit Down (and Talk it Over)' was released and chart 7-8 weeks on the R & B chart before the "b"side I Feel Love took off and the focus was put on that, as the lead single from her album I Remember Yesterday. "The Woman In Me" and "Love Has a Mind of It's Own" are the only 2 ballads that I can remember being released as singles (they are from the 82/83). I think "Winter Melody" was released as a single, but I am not sure if it was in the US. If you want to be blown away then react to "If There Is Music There" from her 1999 VH1 presents Live and More Encore.
@@J.Fro90 Your welcome, after reading my comment again, I just want to say... what I meant to say, was Donna had the day before the ceremony, to meet with the musical director and get some rehearsal time in. As she was called last minute to fill in. The Oscars are a very well organized affair, as I am sure you are aware.
Ms. Donna was exceptional and sang everything with perfectio. If you want ballads from her , checkout " On my honor" and " There will always be a you" from Bad Girls also Can't we sit down and talk it over" from I remember yesterday. I believe you will love them as I have for over 40 years
Just the sheer guts, it takes to agree to go on the Academy Awards, which are watched by more people than almost anything in the world except the Super Bowl so hundreds of millions of people are watching and you get on that stage and you’re gonna perform a Barbra Streisand song. You must have confidence and immense talent to pull that off and my girl Donna has them both. John is gigantic breakout hit album which was bad. Girls has three consecutive ballads in a row “on my honor” “there will always be a you” and “all through the night” and although they were not released commercially as singles, they’re all fantastic and you should give them all a listen.
I remember hearing of this request by Ms. Barbra and watched the performance on tv. Since Ms. Barbra couldn't perform the song, Ms. Donna was the PERFECT person to sing instead with her EXCEPTIONAL voice!
Since you seemed to enjoy a Donna ballad so much, I highly recommend 'The Power Of One' by Donna. It is incredibly moving, and showcases that beautiful one of a kind voice that this lady had.
Barbra had actually asked Donna to perform this song for her this night because she couldn't be there. You should check out Donna's live performances for A Song For You and O Holy Night (for Christmas). Totally fabulous.
Incredible how she pulled this off. You have to be super talented to do this. I first heard this song in the movie Yentel with Barbra Streisand where she is singing homage to her father. I am a huge fan of both. In the 90's, Miss. Summer had a hit with an original Italian song called, " I will go with you". I believe it was sung by Andrea Bocelli. It was dance song but sang in a ballad form. It's a good song for you to her hear at a different scale. The ending notes were exquisitely sung. On your own time hear it. Gosh, everyone from that time must have loved her. I know I do. She was my mom's favorite dance artist of the disco era.
No, all the songs people mention aren’t the ones. Check out Only one man from her Live and More album. I mentioned If it hurts just a little , not a ballad but so good. Don’t Cry for me Argentina is good too . Thnx again ✨✨✨
If There Is Music There!!! Just one awesome ballad by Donna Summer
Took the words outta my mouth
She had the best voice. No one comes close.

@@mickdenis6630 Although I don't think it was released as a single, Donna had an absolutely gorgeous ballad called, "There Will Always Be A You."
Her voice was INSANELY GOOD. Brings chills and tears.

Donna can do no wrong, her voice enthralls me❤
God gave him a unique talent and a great person. An absolutely perfect human being, woman, mother, artist. God bless you for eternity
Love, love, love Donna Summer!
Barbra personally asked Donna to sing this in her place as she was ill and could not perform.

We both said Wow at the same time 🤩
I grew up in the 70s, when people ask Whitney or Mariah, I say Donna 😍
Agree 10000%
