Please, may I know about consideration of insensible loss in output measurement e.g. insensible loss 500 ml in no fever patient. Thanks for your answer!
Great question! Insensible fluid loss is the amount of body fluid lost daily that is not easily measured, from the respiratory system, skin, and water in the excreted stool. You could monitor client weight. Remember that 1 kg = 1000 mL of fluid loss or gained. Another option, if diaphoresis is excessive, you could weigh soaked linens - just remember to subtract out the dry weight of the item before including in output (1 gram of item weight = 1 mL of fluid loss). Hope this helps!
It will depend on how the question you are given reads. If you are told the ounces, then use those to calculate total mL of intake. If you are only told, "glass of tea" then typically it is 320 mL. But be careful if the question reads, "one cup of tea"... because a cup is 8 oz or 240 mL. Hopefully that is not to confusing!
I have a study guide in my Etsy shop on I&O that includes a bladder irrigation example. You can use the code PROFRN for 10% off. Link to my Etsy shop is in the video description.

Thank you !
You helped me understand this better than my professor ...
I’m so glad you found it helpful!
thank you for teaching me this. Am grateful
You’re very welcome! I’m glad it helped!
Thank you, this helps a lot !! 😊
Thank you for this!
So do you subtract output from intake or the vice versa?
Subtract the output from the intake to find the fluid balance.
Can you explain the input and output of flushes
Flush solution counts as input. However much you flush in mL is what is part of the calculation.
How did you get 9 oz for the coffee if 1 cup is 8 oz.????
Got it the 1 oz of cream
Great catch! 8oz of coffee + 1 oz creamer = 9 oz :)

Is 24 oz of ice tea fall under 720 ml or as a hospital container where an ice tea glass is 320ml?????

Does pureed meat count as intake??
Great question! No, puréed foods would be similar to pudding and custard which do not count as intake. Intake must be liquid at room temperature.
Thank you very much! I appreciate your help!
Thank you!
