Mike Hurst who was with the Springfields and Mike DeAlbuquerque ex of ELO along with Mary Hopkin formed the group Sundance here they sing "Cottonfields" this, along with many other SUNDANCE songs can still be found on CD which can be ordered from ANGEL AIR RECORDS www.angelair.co...

Born in Wales Mary began her musical career as a folk singer with a local group called the Selby Set and Mary. She released an EP of Welsh language songs for a local label called Cambrian before signing to the Beatles Apple Label, model Twiggy saw her winning a TV talent show and recommended her to Paul McCartney. She was one of the first artists to record on the Beatles record label Her debut single" Those Were the Days" got to number 1 in the UK and number 2 in the US. Selling over 8 million copies.

In September 2005 she released an album on her own label, "Mary Hopkin Music", called "Live at the Royal Festival Hal!" It was followed in December 2006 by a brand-new Christmas recording, "Snowed Under", released as an mp3 download via Disaudio.com
To celebrate her birthday in 2007, she released an album called "Valentine", on her new label www.maryhopkin.com It includes 12 previously unheard tracks dating from 1972 to 1980, three of which were written by Mary.
First time I have heard this. I am a major Mary Hopkin's fan since the 1960's. But as a Southern it is strange not to hear a twang ....

I was and still am a big fan off marry hopkin got a lovely voice the songs she sings so lovely my favourite is goodbye I'm 65 next your and at my party I'll be playing few of Mary songs xx

Though her time with Sundance was short and apparently not to her liking, I have yet to see another video of Mary appearing so happy and engaged while performing!
It's called professionalism - cf. Olivia Newton-John's performance of 'Long Live Love', a song she hated, at the ESC. Mary was fired by the two Mikes soon after this TV appearance for refusing to accept a support slot on Dame Shirley Bassey's tour - but was soon rehabilitated in the easy -listening superband Oasis, a far superior ensemble. Sundance belonged to the same category as The New Seekers and Springfield Revival, i.e. strictly variety material.
@@goldheartbadge You are right about Mary's consummate professionalism - something I've learned much more about in the six years since I wrote that comment. The only redeeming quality of Sundance was Mary's vocal artistry breaking though the musical clichés of that era. Oasis was, as you said, a much superior platform for her artistry.
I should have added with the exception of the hilarious Mary Hopkin Metal Biscuit Film!
