it still surprises me how little subscribers skizz has. Hes on series’ with people who are near 10 mil and still doesnt have 100k, and deserves at least a million because of how amazing of a person he is
They didn't all get their subs from the life series though, most of them got the majority of their subs through hermitcraft. Never heard of skizz until this series, definitely gonna be subscribing now though

Instantly became a fan after Episode 1 of Secret Life. He brings an incredible amount of personality to the series.
Skizz is so sweet! I hadn't heard of him until Secret Life but he's one of my favorites now.
@neoncat6820 The thing is, Skizz isn't a full-time content creator. He join the life series because of Impulse and he meet Grain, scar and other from Impulse. He hasn't jump to full-time cause he feel like he couldn't support his family right now,.

how did he basically double his subscribers in only a few days?
@@x_potato4081 he did a shorts video which randomly got hit by the algorithm in which he’d change his pfp and banner for a certain amount of time based on how many subscribers and people subscribed so swift that he got around 300k in a week or so.
One thing this video helps me appreciate is how much they all treat each other as equals and you don’t feel any egos amongst them when they play together despite the extremely broad range of subscriber counts. They all get along so well as friends and if you never looked at the numbers you would never think that one of there channels might be 100x larger than another’s.

just seeing the sudden jump is subscribers is honestly hilarious to me.
I think a lot of people see Mumbo, Grian and Lizzie with their 7million+ subs and forget that 1 million is a mighty impressive achievement!
10K puts you in the 1% bracket on youtube i believe.

I think Mumbo, Grian, and Iskall were a trio since season six, right? Pretty sure the award goes to them. Not saying I don't love Scar, but Mumbo, Grian, and Iskall will always be my favorite trio.
Is season 7 scar started appearing in groans videos a lot more and I think that brought a lot of people to his channel

They basically have the same community, back before grian joined hermitcraft especially, it was like if you ever watched grian you couldnt not watch mumbo and if you ever watched mumbo you couldnt not watch grian back then cause they collaborated a lot, even before their first collaboration their communities were begging for them to join up

@@thoseoneguy9554 Grian has nearly always been known as “the builder” and Mumbo has always been known as “the red stone guy” so it was a match made in heaven 😂
A few things:
1. Seeing Joel going up so fast and Etho not that high was kinda sad, but then… yeah. Seeing him rise so high was great to see.
2. The whole first like 4 minutes I was going “poor Grian” but then that hap

to your #2 point, etho has always had a smaller fanbase than youd think. he has never once asked for likes/subs/etc and that might be why. but his base is pretty loyal. hes one of the few "drop everything" people for me lol

ill also say, i think generationality has a lot to do with it. i find just the more "playful" tones of voices appeal to youngins more.

@@beamshooter agreed. Etho and the others are the type of content creators that appeals to the older audience, but Grian and the others are for the younger ones. Since the younger fans dominates literally the entire minecraft fanbase, it makes sense that they have more.

Everybody’s talking about skizz but it makes sense. Skizz doesn’t really focus on YT that much. He’s got a full time job that I feel he prioritises more which is fair enough. I’m sure if he has been on the hermitcraft server with tango and impulse he’d be just as big as they are if not bigger.
@@tigdakidbut he has been on some very popular series. Between the channels and episodes, the life series alone has had 50,000,000+ views. It’s hard to imagine one of them who has been in every life series except one, still only has 65,000~ subs. It’s not like Skizz is a 1 hit wonder, he has a lot of content with big UA-camrs including making content with Tango, Impulse, Grian, Scar, etc for years. If just 1% of their subscribers moved over his channel would double in size.
I’m subscribed to 4 on the list. Bdubs, Tango, Impulse, and Skizz. Maybe I’m showing my age. Lol. Never thought I’d watch people playing video games on UA-cam.
yeah that is definitely a huge factor i've noticed. Age. It really shows. I mean it is a kids game at the end of the day and i think younger people are just more relatable to younger people at the end of the day. @@mattks1001

yeah joel has been here since pretty much the beginning. he started out on a different channel iirc. can't remember the name but it was a group channel where he and his friends would upload cod clips. he talks about it in his draw my life video from a few years ago
It's cool to see how the Mindcrackers and Yogscast member getting to 1,000,000 first. It shows just how popular they were at the time those groups were trailblazing

It’s crazy how much the Empires members like Gem, Jimmy, and Pearl all shot up when that series was going on. Gem really took off during that series
empires and hermitcraft really helped gem and pearl
A few thoughts.
1. Always great to see the Grain/Mumbo explosion to the top
2. Even around that 2 million sub count, Bdubs and Scar are still underrated.
3. Was nice to see Gem's channel explode.
4. I still remember impulse hitting 1 million and it was amazing. So sweet. And he and Tango still chilling so close to each other.
5. Skizz is *criminally* underrated, but I believe it is the fact that other than things with impulse and the Life series, he hasn't had the large exposure yet. That, and I think he has only recently began to find his performance voice. I expect great things in the coming year from him.

I never had any idea how big of a creator Lizzie is, no hate at all, but she’s definitely the biggest surprise to me. I had never heard of her before the life series but omg her channels massive I had no idea.

yeah she got big with shadowcraft, and then her various modded smps on her side of the mcyt world with scott, joel, oli, tiffany, stacyplays, etcetera....different mcyt sphere lol--I grew up over there, hadn't heard of Etho until the life series or Grian until MCC players fangirling over him

Its funny, as a kid a lot of my friends watched her stuff so she was kind of a household name for me.
Joel and Martyn on the other hand are two people I literally had never heard of before the life series so seeing them be so big, so early on was pretty shocking to me
Lizzie used to post a lot (like almost everyday) and I find her videos to be very entertaining, but in these past few years she has posted less so she was more popular back then. There was a time when she didn’t post for MONTHS so it’s no surprise you didn’t know her!

Etho will always be my number one. I always appreciate him for never gaming the algorithm with thumbnails and the ol “subscribe and ring the bell” but I do wonder how many more subscribers he would have if he did go along with all that.
It crazy to me that his subscriber count stalled at 1.9 million for 3 years starting around 2016. I think that is around the time when Minecraft fell off for a while and youtubes algorithm started caring more about the whole “like and subscribe” type stuff. I think its a shame that the platform basically punished him despite the fact that he never stopped uploading quality content

The thing is though he has to do full time to pay the bills. He wants to go full time some day he just needs it to be a stable choice. Impulse wasn't full time til hc season 8
We now get to see how things go since Skizz has now been confirmed as a new member for Hermitcraft season 10.
The meteoric rise of Lizzie's channel around 2015-2016 shocked me. What was the catalyst for this? She's genuinely clever, and fun to watch of course, but I'm sure that was true before 2015 as well.
Perhaps Minecraft Story Mode?? BigB was covering it at the time and he skyrocketed around then too

I first learned of Lizzie through W92Baj. His gf at the time, (I don't remember her username) was a part of an All Girl Minecraft Server that Lizzy was in too. Wudda been around 2014 -ish.

I always use main channels, since they usually grew their audience from there and so that is the one most people want to see!

The dramatic music that came in both when Mumbo's channel first started and when he exploded in popularity felt incredibly fitting.

Because he is like the joke. I notice that people who are a little bit more mean/power hungry tend to get more subs. Idk what that says… wholesome people tend to get less subs.

It is kind of sad that Grian, Mumbo and Lizzie are just dominating. All the other creators deserve their fair share of recognition too!
EDIT: I don't mean to dismiss their talents, I am just saying it is a shame that everyone else is behind. Trust me I love Grian Mumbo and Lizzie as much as the next person, I just think everyone else is equally good and should have as much fame.
That’s just the Pareto distribution at work. It’s a constant and natural phenomenon. In layman’s terms, not every creator is for everyone. If you do a multi-variable analysis of everyone’s content, you will find some individuals will do well along multiple variables and some specialize or provide exceptional work in a select few variables causing differences in viewership results.
It’s just the reality of things. It’s even referenced in the Bible, that’s how long this phenomenon has been observed by humans. Its sort of natural law of the world. It’s called The Matthew Principle, “To those who have everything more will be given, and to those who have nothing everything will be taken.

Interesting fact: The channel Martyn and BigB are listed under are *not* their Minecraft channels. It’s BigB’s roblox channel and Martyn’s fortnite channel. Their MC channels have a lot less subs comparatively.
yeah bigb used to post minecraft in the early xbox days on his main channel but stopped doing it in around 2017-2018
its really interesting seeing bursts and knowing/supposing where they come from. like around the time grian joined hermitcraft, there was a quick spike and thats cool to see

Hope Skizz gets to join Hermitcraft when he’s so close to a lot of them now and has been a supporting role for the whole series since Impulse joined. The reason for Grian having 0 for so long is that he simply didn't upload for the first few years of the channels creation.
Ok but tiny bit about this video not even to do with the statistics, I really enjoyed how when a big takeover at the top happened there was usually a big beat drop in the music to go along with it. Just a super cool small detail that went a long way!

I did not know Joel, Lizzie, and Martin were big channels for so long. I only found out about the when I saw the Empires series. Also I'm surprised Tango didn't spike from Decked out, but i guess most of the growth was for his second channel

Crazy how watching some bars move can make me nostalgic. I watched bdubs and etho so much back in the mindcrack days (and a few of the others). Also bdubs and guude were the ones that got me into UA-cam and Minecraft with their legendary series

I watched mumbo first. I likes his redstonw videos. Wasnt too interested in hermitcraft at first. Then i watched all of season 5 from his view and loved it. Watched all of season 6 as well. Tried to watch keralis's pov as well but couldnt get as into him as mumbo. I just stuck with him.
i could definitely tell when shadow craft took off for lizzie lol ive been a fan of her since i was a kid so its really cool to be introduced to this group of other mine crafters and to see their growth ! being a fan on lizzie i assumed that all the creators had a similar following but im kind of shocked by them in comparison.

It’s sad because I love the other hermits/lifers, but I never really subscribed to anyone but grian because he’s the only one I can ever really watch all the videos of, I still watch everyone else’s content I just never considered subscribing
