@@ummagawdFPV you aren't wrong, I had the same thoughts when I watched it.. more to the "I wonder if he's getting his value in production back". There will be a middle ground, it won't be totally transparent but use the same theories you do with quad r&d for your value realization vs production cost exercise.

Agreed. Having gone through a similar process designing a performance sub 250 3" cinewhoop or "cinepick" as I dubbed it, I can really relate to this type of content and the story and presentation, humour etc. rounds it all off nicely. Not to rub it in but I hit my design objective with about a gram to spare although sub 250 is less of a concern for me now since they changed the laws here in the UK and now even sub 250s have to be registered. :'( Also I wouldn't have been inspired to design the quad if it wasn't for your 85 and 95x naked builds. Keep up the engaging content.

Engineering at its finest. Looking forward to the final sub 250 5"! Awesome you're trying to get it under 250 with the vista HD system! Wouldn't see it any other way. Looks great and seems just about ready for market!

hey Tommy, first of all, amazing work ! Full of info and enternaining as usual. Im just wondering why not go the 4" route. I do understand that 5" has been the golden standard for so long and you want to keep that size but it seems like there are just too many compromises. you are at 269g, cutting down to 240 means an 11% shave off the current build which will be very very difficult on an already light build without sacrificing something. thats like trying to cut 60+ grams on a light weight 5". But with a 4" this seems doable, a slight scale down of everything would help you get under that 250g with that bit of a room to spare without too much compromise. Anyways among the reasons 5" was golden also had to do with the size and weight of your typical gopro, things just worked great with the existing hardware when 5" started becoming a thing, but now those times are kind of over, you said it yourself. Also, other developers have already proven that you can have rock solid performance and smooth flight with under 5" quads, so props and frame dont absolutely have to be 5" to be good. I also believe that if you keep the weight the same but reduce the size a bit it might make it a bit less floaty, since the overall density increases a bit (footprint and air drag decrease). Have you considered 4" ? ... and yes, it does have to land at like 240g or even 235g AUW for it to be universally accepted, people cant always find the exact batteries you have, they use different power cable lenghts, different straps, different screws, different receivers, different antennas, and even the solder blobs themselves can make a few grams of difference...

I love that you're converging with kabab into thinking that weight is basically the #1 thing to worry about once you've got the basics covered. This seems to be flying pretty dang good.

This is the best dude in this business... The best. Great video. I was watching intentively the entire video. No one in this hobby compares. Dude you, nerk and stinger are like the only pilots I really like watching anymore.. Doing great things for FPV. Only thing that drives me mad is getFPV has been out of umagrip forever and I need it in my life. Please get with them and fix that. Lol.

Good work man, lookin' like you're making some progress. I haven't been into FPV that long. I really liked the early build progression info you had at the begin. I couldn't imagine trying to flash firmware like that. For myself, I'd most likely be looking at an analog build, and hope there's gonna be room to throw a RunCam Hybrid. Keep it up... you got this.
