I think Mark would more likely be the perfect murder accomplice. Rather than commit the crime himself, he would be the guy who would remove all the forensic evidence before the police arrived.
Triad Good point, although if in this hypothetical he was driven to become a murderous vigilante by Trudy's death, he would become totally unstoppable. Not only would he retain his understanding of police tactics, he would still have a powerful eye for details; I'd wager most of his OCD would be pushed down or weaponized. The only thing he would obsess over would be how he was going to perfectly stage a death or how to remove literally all traces of his presence. I mean, we saw how effortless a killer he is when he shot that pigeon out of the air without even looking (the Sean Astin butler espisode). And we know he's both a runner and a pretty competent hand-to-hand combatant, like when he beats the hell out of that Frank Nunn guy (the six fingered man). He would've likely found Trudy's killer years earlier, although at too great a cost to his humanity, and he would no longer be the man she loved.
@@cyborgninja5489 I didn't mean to imply he wouldn't be effective in the actual murder just that he would clean it up then his brain would itch and he would go back clean it up again then leave and the itchy brain will nag him to clean behind some piece of furniture because it will ask him are you sure you cleaned there then his eidetic memory would tell him he did but his ocd would say are you sure just like the stove in the very first episode
Triad true, but I think it's Ambrose that has the eidetic memory. Adrian's is really strong, certainly superior to a normal person's but he has more human flaws and strengths. Ironically, he is pretty stable when compared to both of his brothers, one of which can't leave the house and the other being a compulsive liar and kleptomaniac. Monk's OCD manifests more as being uncomfortable with "situational disorder," usually forcing him to organize things by height or size or type. Like when we see how he views the world when he becomes a painter, everything is straight lines and right angles, with very little surprises or deviations from style. If Ambrose could overcome his agoraphobia, he might make for an even greater detective than Adrian, insofar as he has a far greater breadth of knowledge and speaks all those languages and junk. Adrian's attachment to order in the world might actually make him being a murderer impossible; killing someone is about as chaotic and unnatural as it gets. If he were somehow pushed down that path, like if he never met Sharona or something, this attempt to bring order to the world might manifest as him very obsessively arranging the corpses of his victims to be laying at symmetrical angles. If he was that type of killer, which would be very Dexter-esque, I'm not sure he would have the same compulsions toward cleanliness although perhaps you are right. He talks in one episode about how as a cop, he knew he couldn't fix the whole world, just little pieces of it, and that that was okay. I got sort of long winded here, but I think I'm basically trying to say that his aversion to things being dirty or unkempt comes more out of his desires to bring order and sense to the world, something that was made very difficult by his father abandoning the family.
