This song captures the ugly and beautiful aspects of love and loss. Soccer Mommy truly goes to that place that only our hearts feel and puts it into poetry. I am so in awe of her ability to write and turn a memory into music. I will never not admire this girl. Wow.

The whole album reminds me of being in a relationship with a girl while you're both going to the same Varsety high school in 1999 or 2000, all the typical high school drama and crazy adventures you go through, trying to sneak away from your parents to do rebellious teen stuff in your Converse and making memories that last you a lifetime.... It's also reminiscent of the many nights that same girl spent crying into her pillow after you broke up with her and she watches you move on with other girls, maybe moving from your small town to a big city, leaving her behind. After all, she's just a victim of changing planets.
Strong early Avril Lavigne and Liz Phair vibes in this song.

Best new artist in recent memory. This whole album (Clean) is absolutely wonderful and I can't wait to see SM live. I love how the contents of these songs are all intimate and familiar enough to be emotionally nostalgic and also have an updated kind of 90s vibe and low-fi creativity to be nostalgic in that sense as well. Scorpio Rising really hits hard in both ways. I wish the next tour was a Soccer Mommy/Mitski double bill, straight-up :)

Reminds me of my ex... my first love. Ugh, high school, on the edge of adulthood. Living in that lenient space and time. Late nights parked along lone streetlights. Watching his hands on my thighs. Talking all night long, trying not to think about tommrow. We thought morning would never come. Nothing seemed truly real, so it was hard to appreciate it until it was gone. But everything must end.
