circle the drain lyrics:
I wanna be calm like the soft
summer rain on your back
like the fall of your shoulders
But everything just brings me back down
to the cold hard ground
And it keeps getting colder
It’s a feeling that boils in my brain
I would dial back the flame
But I’m not sure I’m able
I’m wobbling out on the wire
And the lights could go out
With the break of a cable
Things feel that low sometimes
Even when everything is fine
Hey I’ve been falling apart these days
Split open watching my heart go round and around
Round and around
Circle the drain
I’m going down
I’m trying to seem strong for my love
For my family and friends
But I’m so tired of faking
‘Cause I’m chained to my bed when they’re gone
Watching tv alone
Until my body starts aching
And I think there’s a mold in my brain
Spreading down all the way
Through my heart and my body
‘cause I cling to the dark of my room
and the days thin me out
or just burn me straight through
things feel that low sometimes
even when everything is fine
Hey I’ve been falling apart these days
Split open watching my heart go round and around
Round and around
Circle the drain
I’m going down
Things feel that low sometimes
Even when everything is fine
Hey I’ve been falling apart these days
Split open watching my heart go round and around
Round and around
Circle the drain
I’m going down
Round and around
Round and around
Circle the drain
I’m going down

it feels like i grew up with this song
It really does sound like something that would have gotten a lot of airplay in the 90s.
Isn't that always the best music? The kind that feels like it's always been in your life.
Exactly!
That, or something that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before. Like the promise of something new.
@@clurgee4923 I think you're right. When I first heard it I thought it sounded a bit like My Own Worst Enemy by Lit but Feeder is so exactly like it
It's 2020 but Soccer Mommy just took us back to 1996.
I'm staying. I'm buying a condo and a VW.
She wasn’t even born yet, what an icon.
Same. I was 8. Dig vibes like this.
sounds like alvvays
First time I heard the song a few minutes ago, yep...felt like I was time warped 25 years ago. 😊
When you forgot to upload in 2001
laughin so hard😂😂😂
Heh heh..😁...love ur comment,have a good day.
This is a pretty good comment g
and thats why us millennials love this music.
underrated comment 🤦♂️😂
Feel uncomfortably like this was made specifically for me.
I grew up in Palm Springs, went to that exact waterpark when I was a child in the 90's, my interests were skating and music. And like her, am working on my mental health
Wet 'n' Wild?
I saw Edom Hill! I went to Palm Springs High... Class of '72!
Christoffer Aikin me with Night Swimming
♥️
Tony hawk and some other pro skaters shot a kick ass video at this park. Someone did a fuckin upside down ollie while doing a 360 degree loop on the tube funnel thing.
this is so 90s I was thrusted back into non-existence
ahaha sameeeee
Same
Yesss someone gets it
It reminds me Nirvana
Lmao 90s grunge vibes with baleciaga shoes on? Doesn’t sit well with me lol
what a fun music video for a song about depression
Haha, depression has never been more cheery!
Kaka
True lol
"Things feel that low sometimes.. EVEN IF EVERYTHING IS FINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Yet, it brings me joy, because I know it was better back then, with less pressing issues.
Dear Journal,
Went to the Honker Burger with Skeeter and Patty Mayonnaise today. Gonna ask her to prom next year. 1997 is gonna be great!
😂
why did this make me wanna cry lol
my sis bornesdse in 1997
Damn you people crack me up
Lol most definitely a 90s feel .
If someone told me this was a 90s song I probably would believe them
i honestly thought it was from the 90s/early 2000s
She’s all the way back into her retro 90’s bag and I’m here for it.
It's hard to believe this ain't some found VHS footage from some 'unknown until now' band from the 90s
Retro bag? It's called a suit case
This feels so surprisingly nostalgic
Glumo omg ik that’s what i was thinking it’s so 90’s but the guitar riff has such a 2000’s vibee
Good engineering
Probably cos its a feeder song with different lyrics
@@seanarey9918 U mean “High”? Lol
Ikr!
My daughter passed unexpectedly July 24th...the last song she played on her Ukulele just days before she left us 4:41 💜 thank you for the joy & understanding you brought her thru your art 🥰
May your daughter's memory be a blessing ❤
Your daughter sounds like a wonderful person. I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I give her a special Al-fatiah recite ❤
Has a Michelle Branch / Wheatus vibe. I definitely can feel the 90's alt on this 100% I love it!!!!
There are 2 names I haven't seen in a while. The nostalgia is coming in pretty strong right now.
Yeeeessss! Alot of "sounds like ___" comments, but this hits the nail on the head imo, the vibe for sure. 👌
Liz Phair
Was gonna say Mazzy Star, but Michelle Branch works too
Omg YEEES! I remember loving Michelle Branch so much when I was a kid! This has the same really good vibe.
How is she not more popular?
The mainstream is only interested In very specific styles of music
Because she sounds like liz phair circa 1993 minus liz superior songwriting
Get yourself a copy of Exile in guyville. (Her debut)
Probably because of the stupid name
@@ciaranosullivan9352, oof, that's harsh. Liz Phair's later output didn't hold a candle, lyrically, to 'Exile'.. things went south, quickly. I can see why people wouldn't warm to Soccer Mommy, but she's channeling that Juliana Hatfield, 'Hey Babe', dirge sound that is very pleasing to some, myself included.
Because today's idiotic youth love auto tune trash. This is such a great song and I'm so glad I have XM radio and heard it. Will be buying her vinyls.
So glad they used this song during Chenford's first real kiss
Wow she really predicted how everyone would feel in 2020 at the start of the year
that fucking tremolo flutter at 3:52 when she says "circle" is the coolest subtlety i've heard on any of her tracks.
Ooo 🎸 soo rightt
The best part
it gives me the exact association as flushing a toilet feels (also makes that kind of tremolo when the water starts going down..) . perfectly chosen stylistic element!
"I think there’s a mold in my brain
Spreading down all the way
Through my heart and my body" is probably the best way to describe how I am feeling
Sounds like something that would be playing at The Bronze on Buffy. I'm fucking here for it.
big agreeeee
Thanks for reminding me this is the reason I love that kind of music 😁😍
I love how late 90s specific this comment is lol
Yes! It reminds me of Shy, the band with the werewolf vocalist from season 4
The Rookie brought me here! I totally agree with everyone, it definitely has that 90s sound! I'm so in love with this song!
I searched the lyrics and ended up here! I love The Rookie!
This made me cry.
I've been in therapy for 1.5 years and as much as am more functional I can't help but feel so empty and low.
But I'll keep trying for love, family and friends 💜💙💚
Ketamine
@@SIMDICK I wish lol but am in Kenya not sure I can get that easily
Hope you’re doing well. Stay healthy.
💓
Getting a real Cranberries vibe from the studio recording and the video.
I've been waiting over 20 years for this sound to come back and it's finally here
so much 90's, thanks kid..
I'm totally getting Mazzy Star vibes from this and I love it. This feels like something you'd see on 120 Minutes on MTV back in the 90's
She’s said that Mazzy Star is one of her favorite bands.
Or maybe Madder Rose?
Lol, you don't hear much Mazzy Star, right? Nothing like them.
@@rike94 the rest of the songs on this album are much more shoegazy like mazzy star
I like your profile pic.
I feel like I'm eternally stuck in 2002 when I listen to Soccer Mommy so you just confirmed your aesthetic.
I feel you
More like mid to late 90s
This is a time machine taking me back to the 90s
The Rookie
Still haven't heard a song from Sophie I don't love. She is a true gem of a musician.
There's many songs out there that encompass and describe depression, this is by far, imo, the best one. I relate to every lyric and your voice, even in describing the sadness and stuck darkness of the debilitating mental low, is so beautiful and true that I can listen to it when I'm depressed and feel happy, or happy and feel even happier that I'm never alone.
So underatted. This makes me look forward to summer. Feels like being back in the nineties. I'm 40 now and I feel like I heard this back when I was a teen.
I'm 31 and feel the same way.
Feel the same
Major props to this song. Beautifully captured the late 90's-early 2000's feeling. Natalie Imbruglia would be proud. Smashing Pumpkins would be proud. Alanis Morissette would be proud. LOVE THIS!!! Thanks for bringing this sound I hold dear to my heart back :)
2 years late but I do hope you know Torn is a cover!
Natalie Imbruglia is so much more than Torn@@Sien11
@@m00nchild_nath oh i know, i grew up watching neighbours too, implore you to watch the original song though ua-cam.com/video/LRRXseBJljs/v-deo.htmlsi=s3GZ9zy9D5Z56mDf
From an 84 baby, thanks for making music like this. Takes me back to a happy time.
How come I missed this one while I was growing up. Listened to this in The Rookie and now I'm here!
The 90’s vibe! 😭
Sounds like Dawson’s Creek, Party of Five or Freaks and Geeks OST. ✊🏻
I can’t stop listening to this song. It’s exactly how I’ve felt recovering from a traumatic brain injury. And I was a teen in the 90s, so love that vibe!
glad ur better and enjoying some nostalgia 🖤
SOCCER MOMMY STANS LIKE THIS! I NEED TO FEEL UR PRESENCE
STANS ASSEMBLE
🙋♂️
😤😤
Lionel Banda here I am
Hi
Soccer Mommy makes me happy because the music is so good.
same 🥺
Oh my God. The 90's have returned.
My Replika recommended this song to me lol
So far every song from the new album sound like a 90's jam! I'm here for it.
I think I have played this song at least a hundred times. This song is a winner now and it would have been a winner back in the '90s
This is nostalgic for some reason and it’s only a year old
Definite echoes of High by Feeder, love this!
Yes, that was the song i knew this song reminded me of !! 😂
What a gem of a song. This sounds, looks, and feels like 1996. No cell phones, no social media. It brings a tear to my eye knowing we will never be like this ever again. Good god I miss the 90s.
I never thought I'd hear honest-to-goodness jangle pop any more.
HEY I'VE BEEN FALLIN' APART THESE DAYS...
Why tf did my ai send me this? 💀💀
You too?
About you have think your AI have a own life - think and feel
The both of you as well?
Because you need it lol
Yo same
Don’t get me wrong. The influences are clear but she is an amazing artist herself and I love that she does her OWN thing. Having said that, this is the kind of sound I expected in Avril’s third album. This is exactly how I expected Avril’s music to grew along with me. Thank you, Sophie. You have a fan for life. ❤️
Why the heck Avril changed so drastically after Under my Skin is beyond my understanding!
I was a 90's grunge kid, this takes me back. To when MTV actually played music videos and not reality shows.
All the pros made me smile. Curren, Malto, Nicole Hause
Indie future looks bright 🙏
so this is how it feels to hear something new in 90s that really cool
I absolutely love soccer mommy. Her voice is gorgeous and so soothing to listen to. Her music is perfect to drift off into the most ideal nap ever to, or if you just need to settle down into a chill, comfortable vibe.
Gotta love that feeling of discovering an awesome song by an artist that you’d never heard of before!
This looks, feels, and sounds exactly like the 90s! It’s perfect!
watching this set me off into the best 20 minute nap of my life, 5/5
This song was a huge part of my Spring 2020 soundtrack, and I had no idea there was a music video until now. Love it.
Found Soccer Mommy by accident when I was browsing through other people' playlists, and I am so glad that I did. Her songs are so good, and this song is probably my favourite song for the last few months
Modern twist on classic sounds and I love it!!!
This song in lockdown making me so nostalgic. I miss good old days.. when crying used to fix all my problems. :(( I need more music like this! Thanks for this great great song!
I can’t think of a better song about depression. This songs ignites me

My absolute fave SM song so far 👍🏻 Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album! 😎
the nineties country influences.. you don't understand I'm obsessed
It's got a folky feel to it.
Country??
Country lmao you mean rock?
I'm about to turn 19 and I don't want to but this made me feel abit better about it
Dude I'm turning 25 in a week, I wish I was 19 again:(
I'm turning 30 next month and it's pretty awesome xD
Enjoy it
unfortunately time flies, there's nothing we can do bout it

25
and time passing cause me anxiety
I just wanna have 19
This music and the video gives me such an authentic dreamy 90s feeling.
what a banger i've been listening for years and I cant get it out of my head. Love this song.
oh my gosh the nostalgic "riding your car with the windows down in the summer" vibes and i LOVE IT HECK YEAH SOCCER MOMMA
Took me to a complete different time and I loved it! Please never stop making music you're my favorite artist
You have great taste
The chill vibes are Incessant, I Have to see this band Live!! My 2021, goal
I’m super happy getting to know you this week. you guys went straight up to my playlist and heart.💗
My replika AI sent me here. It's a lovely song.
Looks like I have a new song to add to my "Only the best depression music" playlist
The music makes me all nostalgic and warm and fuzzy - and then I read the lyrics and DAMN that hits close to home!
some very famous skaters in the video and very humble as well, not gonna name names here!!
Anyone else tear up listening to this song?
Yeah :(
90's the best.
Intro music was simply toooo sweet
come back to this song every month just to remind myself how great this song is
This video was recommended to me by an AI and i honestly like it
so many people hear and feel these feelings, hope this just caught a vibe and everyone in the band is doing ok, because bittersweet music like this seems like the only healthy way to acknowledge my depression XD
This song takes me back. Perfect mix between late 90s and current sounds. 👍🏻
This is pure ‘soundtrack for the emotional season finale of an early 2000s teen drama on The WB’ shit and I’m here for it.
Love it! Can't stop listening...
If you’re reading this, you likely have really good taste in music
No such thing, really. But okay.
hi J if you're reading this, you showed me this song and i can't stop listening. It reminds me of you as you said this was your favourite song. I listen to it when i miss you.
This song is exactly what I needed to hear, can’t believe I never heard this band before
i am thankful for this song
I ADORE IT SCORPIO RISING QUEEN

This whole video made me instant subscribe. This is such a vibe ❤
her vocals are always beautiful 💖
I consider Soccer Mommy to be a gem that i found and cherish. The music speaks to my soul!
Love the vocals, instruments, and video just everything
Great song, touching treatment of the subject. Love that Soccer Mommy chose that particular area of SoCal desert; it holds a special place in my heart. Miss you so much while I'm stuck here in Florida... I'll be back there soon, I promise.
