1974? Only square backb window I can remember of that generation.... ty for the videos... I believe once I buy a new tank I'll be able to get mine to go...and I had no idea about warming the motor... that is one of the best things that I needed to know...
@NitroFreak yeah I was looking squarely at the back window and taillights... lol beautiful car in everyway.. I miss the ones that I had. 78, 79, and 82/89 (82 front to just behind the doors then 89 from there back) I worked in a body shop and we had the 2 cars so my boss and I put them together ... beautiful teal blue and teal green flaked with purple pearl over.. she was a beautiful! I still regret letting her go...1964 small journal 327 built and borg Warner t5 with all hardened gears... scarey fast... loved it... my dream is a 67 rs/ss...
Question...having an issue after break-in. The engine stalls after warmed up when letting off quickly from full throttle. If I ease off the throttle, it stays running. It doesn't do it if the engine is cold. And it idles fine. It's a RTR Kyosho mp9 tki4 v2 with a ke2sp engine. I'm using 20% Sidewinder Race Blend Fuel. I tried adjusting the LSN…leaned to the point the idle was unsteady and richened to the point where the idle bogs and slowly dies. I also tried several points in between, but it still cuts out if I let off wide open throttle abruptly. I also tried adjusting the HSN…richening or leaning didn’t seem to make a difference. Other than this issue, the vehicle runs great through the RPM range…quick acceleration and no bogging or hesitation. I probably ran about 15-20 tanks through it so far counting the break-in. Thanks for any suggestions.
i would try a new glow plug usualy when an engine cuts off after warming up means the pinch is week time for a rebuild if its a newer engine i wouldnt think thats ur problem id set the carb back to factory settings and re tune from there there are a few things that could cause this reset carb try and retune and get back to me on the results and we can go from there i doent wanna have to write a book to explain lets try the simple stuff first and eliminate any easy issues sounds like tune possibly is way off if u say runs good in the rpm range tells me maybe to lean on the low needle possibly
@@NitroFreak I replaced the stock glow plug with a DYNP5604 Dynamite R4 medium. I'm guessing the stock plug is a 'hot' plug. It ran through almost an entire tank of gas before shutting off when transitioning from full throttle to no throttle quickly which seems like a slight improvement. This was with the leaner 'tuned' carb settings. I let it cool down and reset the carb to factory settings and it did the same. Are you supposed to let nitro engines cool down between tank refills? This is just used for bashing in the woods and parking lots. I was thinking of trying an OS #8 OSMG2691 plug or maybe a 'cold' plug next. I'm in PA, and it's 70 degrees today. I pinched the fuel line, and it took ~5-6 seconds for the engine to die...so I don't think it's running too lean with the factory carb settings.
@@MySonsRanimals sounds way to rich if ur doing pinch tests and takes that long to shut off sounds like a tuning issues and check the idle gap needs to be in the area of 0.05 on the carb slide
Your keeping Nitro alive! i just got one, and this has helped alot. spent 2 days spinning needles and not running... kinda got it just about right now, idels forever, bit smokey down low and bit screamy up top, but it runs. now i can rich high and lean low

Just picked up a truggy, engine runs exactly like your example of too lean on the low speed side. Kind of "stutters" on take off and rpms are high at idle after i run it for a bit. Cannot wait to try and tune it tomorrow! thank you

No one really says what is likely the issue when, it has power has a good idle. But. After WOT it returns to a crisp idle. Then a couple seconds later it creeps up idle
when idle creeps up after comin goff throttle is a rich condition whats happening is to much fuel in crank case that the engine is still burning off if that makes sence hope this helps

I have a hpi trophy buggy 3.5 I got it out after a few years not running and I cannot for the life of me get this buggy to idle. I have the needles at the “factory setting” as described in the manual but it will only start if I put it under 1/4 throttle. Once it starts I can back off the throttle but at idle the tires are spinning real fast. I got new fuel, new glow plugs, fully charged igniters. I’m at a loss. I set the idle gap to 1 mm like it says in the manual but this thing will not idle right. It’s just cuts out once the rpm’s start going down. Please help

@@NitroFreak I appreciate the response. About a half a quart and a few blisters on my fingers later the buggy is drivable. I had it running for at least 30 min straight earlier today. I was ripping it then just filling up the tank with it running. It was about 50 degrees today but I think I got it fairly dialed in. The “factory setting” for the idle screw listed in the manual essentially has the idle gap nonexistent. They say screw flush with housing but also should be about 1mm. It’s closed when flush. Then the “factory settings” for the HSN and LSN had the buggy so unbelievably rich it makes sense now why it was hard to start or only started when holding half to full throttle. Watching your vids definitely helped. Seeing you intentionally running the mixture lean and rich made all of the difference. I do have a question though. When the buggy is idling it sits still but when I lift it up on a box the tires start creeping forward slowly and eventually will speed up. I messed with the idle and LSN up on the box but couldn’t get it to a point where the tires didn’t move with the car in the air. Is this normal? I appreciate the vids and the response. this weekend i might finally dial down my nitro slash. I got it running "well enough" but it is probably a bit too rich to be honest. If leaning out the HSN and the HSN meters the fuel entering the carb would it be safe to say with a leaner meter on the carb the LSN might need to be richened?
