  • In this eleventh episode of the international student series, we'll talk about shopping for groceries in the Netherlands and Breda.
When it comes to shopping for groceries in the Netherlands, you have a lot of options.
You have student-budget-friendly options like Lidl and Aldi, but you also have Jumbo and Albert Heijn, selling more premium and luxurious items, and some also offer alcoholic drinks.
Apart from your normal groceries, Breda offers various cultural foods. For example Amazing Oriental (people here call it ‘the Toko’) is a store where you can find many Asian products which you cannot find in regular grocery stores. There are several Polish supermarkets throughout Breda as well as Turkish and Moroccan stores and many more.
There are also weekly markets in several places in Breda which offer affordable freshly baked bread, fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish.
A list of all weekly markets in Breda:
    Tuesday: Grote Markt from 9:00 t0 13:00 & Veemarktplein from 9:00 to 13:00
Friday: Grote Markt, from 9:00 to 15:00
    Saturday: Vijverstraat, from 9:00 t0 13:00 & Dr. Jan Ingenhouszplein from 10:00 to 17:00.
Thank you for watching the eleventh episode of the Study in the Netherlands series. Watch all the other episodes to know precisely what to expect before coming to Breda.
