Great to see you back! I'm really looking forward to the creativity and anti-functional fixedness you'll bring to this challenge. Can't wait for the full thing!
Oh man, this is exciting! RSE might be unsolvable but I'll be looking forward to the ORAS videos... along with thinking very hard about ways around the interesting problems these challenges face.
Flying Beagle is fucking awesome. Literally 95% of what I listen to is metal but I saw that album cover, gave it a shot, and fucking loved it Edit: i just realized i left a slightly less detailed version of this exact comment on another one of your videos
a game to look into for blind and deaf runs final fantasy mystic quest its a tile based game with set encounters so you would have absolute control of when battles happen
Might be too late, and not sure if it's already been suggested, but have you tried using jirachi? Im pretty sure you can get it right away after booting the game, and its typing of steel for the first two battles means it takes next to no damage
I have thought of this yes! It feels very cheap, but I might do it after ORAS. ORAS turns out to be pretty interesting so I will continue with that (new video in the works)
I have a crackpot idea for the surf problem. but it's probably really dumb and extra. Ah hem. Figure out how to get past the starting part of the game with Treeko Get the old rod, Grind your starter until it's an LV 53 Grovyle. apon level up Teach it False swipe. Find a great ball. Go to the water on route 104. and fish. its a 100% chance for Magikarp a level 10 Magikarp would be a 100% catch with a great ball at 1 hp. Give the Magikarp enough exp for a level 5 magikarp to reach Level 20 via daycare or swap training. act out the evolution and all of the feasible places it could occur, and or Press B at the end of every fight you do for the grinding. only until you know for sure it has enough EXP for a level 5 magikarp to hit level 20 and then slap a Rare candy on that sea puppy! Congrats you now have an overpowered starter and a Gyarados at a mystery level with the ability to surf. Though I do not advise using the Goldeen/Gyrados in a battle cuz you can't know what it is at least it allows you to get to the Castform and Fossels you can plan around. (edit, a slightly less crackpot idea would be to Grab toxic in Fiery path after you get strength, poison the Magikarp, and then hit it with a ultra ball. after magikarp reaches 70% of their HP or lower its a 100% catch. thus you don't need to grind your treecko)
@@TongyBacala Thank you. Yeah I am unsure what to do that won't take a lot of earlier game. I mean its less of a headache than trying to play around every inaccurate tackles. *Goes back to the drawing board anyway. * ... Ok another idea. In Pokemon Sapphire and Emerald only on Route 114, the Lombre is the only Pokemon found at LV 18 or higher. So if you grind the gift Wynaut to LV 18 and then do the repel tick You get a 100% encounter for a possible surfer. But even if you get it down to 1 hp via false swipe it's a 99.994% success rate to catch with an ultra ball according to dragonflycav. Another idea could be trying a Timer ball on the Magikarp. according to the Dragonflycav calculator after 21 turns it becomes a 100% catch on a LV 10 magikarp? thus you don't need to grind for a LV 53 starter.
"My and Kakashi's" round 2 run is on my channel. The user is Kakashi Uchiha - he did the bulk of the strategizing and I scripted it/made the video. Check it out on my channel!
Hey! I might have a solution. Look into "im a blissy" and their playlist of videos on RNG manipulation on Ruby and Sapphire. You could say within the scope of being blind and deaf you still have perfect timing. You're already using automated input. So you could guarantee a 31 IV attack/speed starter with a positive nature. This would MASSIVELY decrease variance. But it seems with such a small pool of available mons you might need that leg up. Having a dead battery copy of R/S is all that's needed and then resukts are consistently repeatable.
We don't allow for any frame perfect behavior. The whole point is to overcome all variability, which includes the IV spread and so on. Otherwise, this would just be a TAS. And by "we" I guess I just mean the three of us that do these runs LOL. The intro to my first Crystal video has a decent explanation.
@@TongyBacala wouldnt it also be susceptible to complete failure if frames are dropped or inputs miss the frames, i think you ran into this issue in your video where you run it in real hardware?
Uh, you should have done Ruby and Sapphire, they're objectively harder than their remakes, in fact they have the hardest difficulty curve of any of the games.
Thank you algorithm. My eyes have been ironically opened to this nonsense, *and I am so here for it*
Forum posts? What are we still a bunch of late 90s high school dweebs!! Another fabulous episode of your slow descent into madness.

I love this idea, but it requires so much early game setup lol. I'd like to see someone try it though!
