Every year paying 10 crore to rent pumps! Who's the genius behind this decision? If you're gonna use them every year, then just buy them!
aditya thakur exactly..but then i thought if they bought it inventory cost and maintainance cost would be much higher. And 2 nd those pumps will be free for use of people whole year. Thats just my logic.
@@Shrejo33 I'm an egineer and I can tell you no pumps cost 10 crores to buy and maintain. Plus they could rent them out during the off season and earn some money themselves.

Hello! You've got the entire picture wrong! Mumbai was built in the South( rocky Colaba)-North(Mumbai Central, Bandra and beyond) direction. So the original British sanitation and sewage system allowed water to drain out while maintaining the millions of water tanks, temple and agricultural, across the city and the suburbs....All those tanks are gone!
The hills on the islands which had enough vegetation to hold water and maintain cooler temperatures are also gone!
The only building material that can be used in Mumbai is either wood or stone. Anything else will corrode due to the high humidity and salinity in the air and water.
In conclusion, I quote Richard Feynman's closing remarks from the Challenger disaster report: "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled."
I loved this short video.
During September, 2017 I was in Malaysia. It rained heavy at times and after a few hrs roads were clear and never saw any blockages.
Along the big roadsides there was a canal and it collected water and drained into a larger drain system.
I heard that there are many underground passageways used as water canals or as roads to travel when not needed for drainage. Dual purpose and very safe! Genius!!
India has world class engineers and will to succeed! Then what is the problem?
Re engineering is needed and solutions can be found like Miami and Florida did.
So get on with it before your Rocket reaches the Marse planet.

For Us Mumbaikars Flooding is not a huge issue the city keeps going on regardless.

My maid's house always becomes a victim in floods and she has 3 small kids as well which becomes dangerous for them to stay while it's flooded
Would have been better if we had more information about natural methods of preventing flooding.
Also final suggestions were weak.
Could have been much more informative.
The main cause is haphazard development and decrease in Mangrove forest.
