This is exactly what I have been looking for. A practical way to better understand the map in the context of harmonizing a tune! As someone who did not major in music or take theory in college, THANK YOU!
Thank you so much! As probably lot of people I had lots of these progressions in my ear but never understood the mechanics behind. Now I can reharm any tune in whatever key and enrich my vocabulary. Again, thank you so much
Wow! It is always a joy to see these tutorials. I actually had a tutorial (VHS!) video from the 90's by Richard Tee where he did something similar with "Happy Birthday"...and of course he did it without any sheet music or anything, just off the top of his head. It was awesome!
Just woooow❤ lean lot from this n I really happy by taking membership in this channel pdf also included both clef thank u sir for sharing your knowledge with us
hey man, this seems interesting, im brand new, and i want to be able to understand as a fresh brain, so this is my journey so far, i do production for hip hop style beats, from boom bap 90s style to current trap style, i also like to make house music, disco, and even corridos, i want to make very melodic disco like in the 70s and real groovy, so where do i start, learning to read music sheets? learn orchestra instruments? i want to be able to create great original music
Thank you! Great video. Visual approach to music is my kind of approach 🎉 A quick question. Does the app (software) play the notes when the corresponding chord is clicked on the screen as shown in the video?
Yes, of course. And it will show it to you on a keyboard or guitar as well. You can also choose between many different A.I. players that know different set of voicings.
Great lesson and excellent tips on reharming, thank you! Your subVs seem to be altered (like the b5 in the sub of D7 15:00 and the #9 your adding to the sub of G7 17:10), is there some insight as to how/why? Looking forward to the next episodes :)
The sheet music is in the latest post in our membership tab on youtube. But you're talking about the xml file for Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro, then it's not in the catalog. You can easily add it by creating a new song and then add the chords.
Hi about Moving from subV7b5 /V to ii7 then V7 how do you know it is possible because there wasn’t any arrow pointing to the ii7 from the subV7b5/ V. Thanks you. I love the lecture.
Yes, not all arrows are shown in the map (it would look pretty messy) Only the most crucial paths are shown. The expected resultion of the subV/V is the V (and there's an arrow there, from the secondary dominants of the V to the V) But as we discuss in many videos interpolating a related 2 (before a V) is always effective. So there ii is acting as an interpolation.
Hello, thank you for the tutorial. Would you please help me with an issue I’m experiencing? I am experiencing NO SOUND on MTH. My iPad is not on mute. I haven’t used the app for a while and I just restored all libraries and purchased the new add-on. Thank you for your help.
Hi Danielle, yes, delete it and install the latest version from the AppStore. I haven't received any other bug reports mentioning no sound on iPad, so it could be a good idea to try that. Let me know what happens.
For harmony, you can start, and go all the way to the end with the Art of Reharmonization. For piano voicings the Essential Piano Voicings Vol.1 (4-note rootless voicings)
I can't find the composer's guide (mentioned at 3:31) on the website, how do I get that? Also I'd love to see a video that has some examples of when the iii chord functions as tonic and some examples of when it functions as dominant. Thanks!
Awesome intro to The Map. But do we have to 2 5 1 or sub. 5 everything! Do we allways have to go around the clock in that direction? Many popular songs go the other way. Where do chromatic mediants fit as another way to get out of the diatonic box?
Hi, no, you can play any chords you want in any order. Just remember to use those "best roads" whenever you want to imply tonality consistently. But once you know those roads, the beauty in music often rely on the few rules you break.
@@mDecksMusic I, too, am a member. Where is the “membership tab” of the channel (I am using iOS if it matters). And, I’ll nominate another item in the final progression (F->F#dim7->C/G). Instead of going immediately to A (for the Amin), insert an Abdim+maj7! And thanks for a great tutorial. It is next to magical. Heck it IS magical!

i am very happy that I bought from them almost everything and they are keeping explained things in very easy way and informative in same time , these information if someone teach you , you will jump from the window 🪟 😅😅😅

You are right
This is spectacular how powerful is this Mapping Tool
Adam…things are starting to make more sense now. There’s just so much to learn and I thank mDecks for pointing out the way!!!
One of the sweetest rendering of Amazing Grace I've heard...❤
...That was crystal clear Thank you so much
Very interesting. I did not get all of it but going from the V (G7) to the VIm (Am) instead of the I was an eye opener!

Great tutorial and perfect beginning of a new series!

I love the inevitability of tonal harmony…. Could you also present a look at a song which uses sequences. Thanks

Great video! How do I write chords like C13b9, C(#13) on MTH pro for iOS?
Just write C7b9 Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro always considers using the 13 of available
Awesome.

Sure, the Ab7b5 is being used as a Fr+6 and the Db7 has an E melody.
I have the app; but, cannot find this song. How do I add this song to my library?

Sir while playing this pdf in piano I feel difficulty to stretch that spread chord notes coz my short hand plz gude me to play that chords
HI, if you can't play the 10ths switch to 3rds, that's what I do when I can't reach.
Siempre he querido entender el mapa , pero haz uno en español para los demás . Gracias
Hi, I wonder why the subV/V using b5 not #11 like other subV? 14:36
We chose the b5 option to imply a Fr+6 (but the default is 7#11)

Do you have a guessing chord progressions app? How I wish there was a good one!
Hi wanda, what’s a guessing chord progressions app?
I am a member but cannot find the sheet music for this lesson. Can you help?
