I wanted to make a lace brim so this is perfect. I use paint pens a lot to cover stiches on hats and with other sewing too. Thank you for another great video.
Wonderful! My 2-year-old has a heck of a fashion sense, especially about hats, and I'm having trouble finding good sun protection she would tolerate; even I don't like any childrens' hats I've found. I have some purple tulle and can certainly find a little straw hat that could be used as a base like this and decorated with flowers. That might inspire some enthusiasm. It's worth an experiment. It was fun hearing you get so excited about your pins. :) Thank you for the clear instructions.
@@SHMillinery I got a little purple hat that was okay, just to see if she would wear one before putting in the work, but the experiment is not going well yet. It might take a while ...
I find the design of this hat really elegant. Thank you. Would it be possible for me to use the sprung wire for making a 'pop up' sun hat? The type you can twist so that it becomes flat enough to put in your hand bag and then all you have to do is pull it out and it springs back in to shape? Thanks again.
Hi Sara, is it possible to also cover that sinamay base (crown) with fabric? If possible, how do i attach the fabric? Can i do it by stitching or gluing it on?
Many thanks for your comment. Yes, there are various ways to finish the edge, it could be bound for example, I just liked the way this produced a very fine edge.
@@SHMillinery Thank you Sara 😊 I've got a plain black fabric and i think of using it to make this type of hat for the first time. I dont know whether it will be proper to double it in order to create that thicker look?
I thoroughly enjoyed this video Sara. I learnt a lot of new ideas, especially the bow

Appliqué sissies would make trimming the edge much easier and less risky
