Hey guys! I'm aware I need to up the audio game as the GoPro's isn't great. Funnily enough they don't sell any good microphones at the local 7-Eleven out here in the countryside 😂. Next time I'm in the city I'll be sure to pick one up! Thanks for watching 🙏👍
I live in Jomtien/Pattaya, for the last 4 years, my condo is by the sea and there’s always a nice breeze, when I leave the door open, it creates even more air passing through. I only need a fan in the room and never use the aircon. Having a big balcony is a bonus too. My electric bill is usually around 700baht a month. I go for a 3K run at sunrise and walk on the beach front for sunset. Would not want to be anywhere else in Thailand right now, it’s officially about 32C which is almost the coolest temperature in the whole of Thailand at the moment!
I live at Cosy beach, in high level corner unit condo. I also, get good sea breeze blowing through my condo. I not use air-conditioned, only fans. The current heat does not worry me at all. Our swim pool is shaded part of the day, so it's cooler than the sea
That is very reassuring to hear. I plan on going to Pattaya area for a couple months later this year(starting July) and I will rent an aparrtment. Im so afraid it will be too hot... (Im from the netherlands)
I totally agree with you. I live in Sweden and 8 months a year, between October-April, the weather is SO depressing. Cold, grey, rainy, snowy so miserable. And all you can do is to stay inside. And when summer season arrives you're not even guaranteed sunny or warm weather. Rather it being "too" hot a period of time than be miserable in the cold 2/3 of a year. Wish I lived in Thailand. 🥲
Insane heat this year, even has me thinking about leaving Thailand this time of the year. You've gotta toughen your Pom up, mine only gets AC when I sleep.
From a pom Ive been here since 2003 village since 2008.never had air con.Proper hard.Someone onced asked me do I have a problem with Australians.Of course not it's the immigrants I don't like 😂😂😂
Over here close to the Equator in West Africa the seasonal rains are late. In the past torrential rain would start March 15th every year and the deluge would last until mid-August when there would be a two-week dry spell before the rains again resumed until late September. For the past few years, the rain has been much less predictable, wreaking havoc on agriculture as newly planted crops often wilt when rain doesn't materialize as expected. Waiting for the rain can be torture in this heat for sure. Sounds like the seasons in Thailand mirror those in Africa pretty closely.
Lived here continously since 2006/07 (aged 45) it doesn't get any easier. My sufferance of heat as I get older. It has become insufferably hot and the air quality is very very bad.
Been here for 23 years For 20 of those years we never used AC. Just acclimatised as it heated up. Been running AC at night now for the last 3 years, and I am definately suffering with the heat at this time of year more than before. Sometimes think the AC can work against you.
A decade ago i had intentions of moving to SE Asia & retiring there, either Cambodia, Laos etc, yet after spending 6mths in each zone as well as further travels to Burma/Myanmar Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines & Thailand came to the conclusion that the very hot climates have a negative effect on most expats, whose main goal of each day is to find ways to escape the heat by searching out & finding AC premises to pass the day, & most of those AC places end up being bars, hence the high rate of heavy drinking & short lived expats in those hot climates, the hot climates are energy sapping, unhealthy & not conducive to any form of exercise unless you are one of the rare few who actually thrive in the extreme heat, though most will wilt like flowers, there are some cooler cities in the Indonesian Highlands though wife & I have decided to look for altogether cooler climates such as in LATAM/Eastern Europe, Mediterranean zones! Hot & Sweaty Climates = Unhealthy Expat!
I live in Khon Kaen city and its 42 degrees now, this whole month i left the AC on 24/7 even while working or going outside i just leave it ON, it was turned off for only 4 days in april. At this crazy heat during March and April i can accept paying high electricity bills, just close my eyes pay it upfront i don't look back. For me its worth paying high as i cant afford to get sick or lose my health.
agree completely up here in Udon same hot as KK i don't give a rip about the electric bill. Didn't retire here to pinch pennys and be uncomfortable in my own home.
The heatwave was worse 2020.. But take it positive your body will now adapt and the normal 31-33 degrees after the hotperiod will feel pretty cool and u will almost freeze at nighttime=)
Whenever I’m in Thailand I always go to a 7 eleven and buy a freezing cold wet towel they sell in the fridge… that’s so refreshing and they are like 15 Bht. Obviously a swimming pool does the job as well but that is not exactly available in rural Issan.
I've lived in Bangkok for over 22 years and I have NEVER experienced the hot season being this long. Every day close to 40 degrees, night temperature 29/30 for about 5 weeks, without any relief. My rain dances haven't been working at all. Hopefully next week we'll get some rain.
At home when you’re sitting down or even days at the computer. Buy a medium sized towel at 7/11 and any kind of bowl that fits the size of your head. Fold the towel put it in the bowl and pour water on it to make a ice block. Freeze it and then later take it out and put it on the top of your head. It’s extremely relaxing and cools down your head and improves mood considerably. 🤯🤗
Another reason for the abundance of malls in Thailand is the hot climate. Thai cities experience high temperatures, making indoor shopping destinations like malls popular among locals and tourists alike for escaping the heat while shopping and enjoying various amenities.
I can handle heat more than a lot people can. I grew up in the sub tropical region of the US. although Thailand is tropical. I do enjoy the A/C, though.
If you have a choice in housing, there are many things that can be done. Shade trees of course but the key is double shade. You basically want to have the roof above you shaded by another source like trees or the upstairs roof. For instance downstairs rooms where none of the walls get direct sun, and consider an open air veranda upstairs. Lots of ventilation. And materials. Stone and concrete that don't get cooked can really keep a room cooler.
I lived in KSA for 12 years. Same hot temperatures for 7 months but no humidity. You step out of the swimming pool or shower and it’s a bit chilly because of the moisture evaporating off your skin. During this hot season in Thailand temperatures right now are above the average. 40-45 C 🔥plus humidity
what you need is solar on the roof, we can run after 8am to 4pm , 3 air cons , 2 bore pumps going all day, as the orchard is so dry, freezer , 2 refrigerators and much more, 10kilo watts on the roof, of course no sun at night, but our elect bill is never over 2,5 k bhart, only way to go ! in the winter the power bill drops to under 1,5 K thats a 3 bed 2 bath house
Great video Joe, i'm down here in Phuket with the sea breeze and the heat at the moment is still almost unbearable, i cant imagine how it would be up there. My Mrs is from Sisaket, been a couple of times, which tambon are you in?

Hahaha. I've been doing short stints out of my condo in Thong Lo the last week or so. I can't get more than a few hundred metres and I am drenched in sweat 🤣🤣. Rooftop pool doesn't have a shade, so it's like a hot bath and no relief.
I've recently moved to Thailand, I put beer in the freezer and pop a couple of cold ones behind a fan for extra cool air if I'm too hot, apply a rotation system and obviously drink some 🍻If I need to go out in the sun for any length of time I like to carry a frozen bottle of water to help cool the blood 🥶and take a small towel to mop up any sweat. I was interested to hear about the cost of running AC and will find out how much it costs when I get my first bill, expecting around 5k with some of that cost going on the swimming pool pump, lights etc...If my bill is less I'd say I've had a result if it's more I'll get more fans and put more beer in the freezer ☺
Yeah mate....hotter than shite!...43 here today...thankful for aircon.......and hey I like the way you used the chapter set up....that's a lot of work especially on long videos.....stay cool man!
Use only 100% cotton tee shirts and also a good trick is to use Prickly Heat, (don't use with black tee shirts) Snake Brand from 7-11. And don't use it immediately after a shower !!
Advice on heat and electricity decrease: window heat-resistant films are great ideas. You can have them transparent. Electrolytes are important in heat weather.
Light that enters into the room will be mostly converted into heat. So to mitigate this effect, you can install curtains to limit the amount of light enertering your room. You can install double curtains with one thin white linen curtain and another thicker curtain. Install a ceiling fan. The fan will help you feel cooler while maintaining a higher air con temperature. Thirdly, you can consider further insulating your walls. This will also reduce the heat enetering your room by conduction through the walls.
Im considering going to Thailand form July - September and Im from the Netherlands, your overseas neighbor and I think 30 degrees here is already to fricking hot. It’s insane heat this time of year and one time 20+ years ago took a trip to Khao phra wihan and came close heat exhaustion. One tip I do have is to keep relaxed and slow the body down eg walk at half normal pace and try not to get stressed about anything- it does help!. ,
Don't worry, after about 10 years it's much easier. Jeans and shirt not a problem. I'm a guy who also sweats a lot and used to be much more sensitive. Takes time, but you will climatise.
I’m in Buriram it was 40+ everyday my full 4 weeks off work 🥵 Hardly left the aircon whether it was the house, car or bar 😂 A lot of Thais still have the mindset that having dark skin is a show of being poor like a rice farmer, fisherman etc
@@markshepperson3603 It's dragged on longer then normal this year, but I think because they had big Bush fires in Chiang Dao recently I believe and not due to farmers on that one.
Yup, Thailand is hot in these months, it was 43C yesterday in Chiang Mai and even the nights don't go much below 25C. I'm retired so my time is my own, I sleep during the heat of the day and take my exercise at night.
I just returned from my house in Khonkaen, spent a month with my Thai wife It was brutal heat the hottest in the 18 years I’ve been out there ! Thank god I like swimming in the local hotel pools because the alternative was staying inside all day in air conditioning Let’s hope it cools down soon because I’m paying the bills for electricity 🥵🥵🥵
Apparently black clothing tends to absorb the heat so time to ditch the drab dark colours. Wear a hat as well. Thermometer on my car read 46 in Sakon nakhon yesterday. Ridiculous.
I like visiting Asia. To hot and humid. I could never live there. I am a North American not a Thai. Beautiful people. People moving there because they can’t afford America is sad.
This year is exceptionally and abnormally hot partly due to the El Niño and global warming. Next years may be better. I cannot survive even a few minutes outside the AC and I am a Thai. Beware of heat strokes.
Also 3yrs in Thailand from UK but I LOVE 40c and the Heat, it does not bother me at all . I Always said "you must adapt to Thailand as IT will not adapt to you". 1st Mistake is Air con which is a big CON, if you are under 20c A/C all day you will suffer when you go out into 40c, your body needs time to acclimatize. I refuse A/C have Never miss it once ... I also have many small showers if I get hot, but most of all drink 3 times the amount of water to replace what I loose. Also eat good food and not English fast food crap and many times a day small portions, look after your body. Now the Thais.. you went over the top, Thais do Not like dark skin and want to be white, so they ALWAYS cover themselves up everyday not just in April. Thais don't not beach the same way the west do so regardless of time of day they always stay in the shade . I still go out in the midday Sun, I still run 20kms/swim / 1 hour of beach yoga every 2nd day. I also help brushing leafs from our mango trees everyday 2PM in our Thai village. I agree good Sun protection and also use aloe vera as well. Bitching and whining like a typical farang, did you not know about this climate before you came ?, one of the reasons why I came to Asia was the Heat. By May 5th the rain starts and the hot season will end .. Enjoy the heat it's like a warm blanket . 😊
Maybe Thais dont like dark skin because dark skin means labour class, working outdoors and so on or maybe its the chinese, Laosian, or Vietnamse influence as they have white skin and considered attractive.
Yesssss, no to AC. I don't have it either. Cooling down with water is the way, as much as needed. Getting in front of a fan right afterward can cool you down quickly and considerably even more. If you live near clean water sources like reservoirs, beaches, or big slow river, I recommend paddle boarding or kayaking where you can take a dip anytime. I just went yesterday and it was cooking but I felt cool. Like a fool I didn't use sunscreen below the knees and cooked my feet and calves, but otherwise covered up. I was out for maybe 6 hours and It was very comfortable. For me, I choose to live near water where I can swim and paddle. It's nice to be outside when you can without suffering. Just gotta find the way.

It's bloody hot in Chiang Mai too at present.
How is air pollution? I lived CM 11 years.
@@markshepperson3603 It's dragged on longer then normal this year, but I think because they had big Bush fires in Chiang Dao recently I believe and not due to farmers on that one.
Thailand is too hot, the UK is raining and dark 🤣
It's a struggle 😂
Wear light colors while being outside. Chuck, Florida USA 57 years
Afternoon siesta
Bucket shower, AC on minus -5 and an afternoon nap 👌😂
Yup, Thailand is hot in these months, it was 43C yesterday in Chiang Mai and even the nights don't go much below 25C.
I'm retired so my time is my own, I sleep during the heat of the day and take my exercise at night.
But how the hell do you sleep when it is hot? I cant sleep anywhere above 30 degrees.
I bought a bike in bangkok and drove to chiang rai 3 weeks ago.
It was fine , bit sweaty.😂
For true misery, visit Iceland in the middle of winter. I love every minute of it
It’s 45+ degrees in Abu Dhabi (where my Thai wife and I live and work ) over 7 months a year 😉
Head over to Big C and enjoy the free AC
I just returned from my house in Khonkaen, spent a month with my Thai wife
It was brutal heat the hottest in the 18 years I’ve been out there !
Thank god I like swimming in the local hotel pools because the alternative was staying inside all day in air conditioning
Let’s hope it cools down soon because I’m paying the bills for electricity 🥵🥵🥵
Apparently black clothing tends to absorb the heat so time to ditch the drab dark colours. Wear a hat as well. Thermometer on my car read 46 in Sakon nakhon yesterday. Ridiculous.
I am going to BKK for 10 days in June. Will it be as hot then as in April?
Nahh mate it will be cooler! April is the hottest month
Mad dogs and Englishmen...... Bloody hot in Cambodia also. 41C today in Siem Reap.
We are about 2 hours north of you! Ridiculous heat at the moment 🥵
Damn. Same in India, don't know where to go now
This is why they have air con. Some places are so cold in the winter you can’t survive outside for long. Need heating. Hot climates require AC.
I like visiting Asia. To hot and humid. I could never live there. I am a North American not a Thai. Beautiful people. People moving there because they can’t afford America is sad.
Just turn on the air conditioning. We have 3 A/C units in our house.
This year is exceptionally and abnormally hot partly due to the El Niño and global warming. Next years may be better. I cannot survive even a few minutes outside the AC and I am a Thai. Beware of heat strokes.
Ginger and heat . Not good .
Fudge and I'm about to be back in two weeks to film. I struggle during January. I'm going to die...
40 degrees and you wear a black t shirt ?
Typical UK yobbo 😂🎉
Hmm. My Thai wife moans every day about the heat and l myself don’t have a problem with the heat.
Why did the Caucasian tourist bring a snowman to Thailand?
Because they thought it would be the coolest way to beat the heat.🤣🤣🤣
North Finnland is way better!
It’s hot bro
Might be too hot...
Here's an idea: don't wear a black shirt outdoors.
