I just saw Ren doing "Jenny and Screech" and "Violets Tale" which are all part of 1 tragic tale... this is who I think of when I think there's nothing good in the music world anymore! It's autotuned, overproduced, computer aided, talentless garbage and music's best days are behind us. Sting once said doesn't like songs that don't surprise him . The song has to have an element of surprise. Ren, man what I've seen of this talented dude is unpredictable and filled with surprises. I like his guitar playing and singing, talking, using his guitar for sound effects like a door knocking or a gun being fired. This brother does it all! I'll check out little simz (that sounds like rap as well) but, having said that, Borderline was free from the "N" word and the promotion of violence against police and that whole mentality so as rap goes , if I had to listen rap it was mellow and easy enough to understand. I'm a guitar player so I'm into music with _real_ instruments being played by real people. After the 90s ; with bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Soundgarden... autotuned singers and drum machines with backing tracks seemed to take over. The whole EDM thing right? Electronic Dance Music where DJs and rave stuff got popular it's hard to find music of quality like of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, (with exceptions of course but, few and far between) . That's what I like about Ren. He's a musician and a Singer and he raps of course but, I don't have to love _everything_ he puts out, just 1 song can be enough and, he's got plenty more than that. I'll check out a few more from each so as not to judge to quickly but, honestly if it's all rap like borderline...it's just not what I'm into, even from Ren. Ren seems to be hitting a lot like the Beatles did, back in their day. There are times that he reminds me of Prince. Next, I'm hearing Bob Marley. The story telling makes me think of mediaeval bards or minstrels, from way, way back. The words, and the way he can string them all together so seamlessly, just blows me away. He can really grab a listener's attention, and pull out some seriously deep emotions. This guy is someone special. I've binge watched musicians that I enjoy before, but I haven't binge watched any of them as much as I've binge watched Ren's stuff. I swear, it's almost becoming an addiction in itself! I've seen Ren's music being described as revolutionary. I disagree. Revolutions are violent. I would describe it as evolutionary. Cheers!
He's hitting it hard on UA-cam. The trick is to break out of this bubble. There are artists whose entire fame has been limited to UA-cam for years. I don't know what it takes to break out to a wider audience. A label is the first thing that comes to mind. Are they all bad? I don't know but a lot of great, unique artists are signed and doing well.
Prince 100%. He’s fully in control of every single aspect of his craft, musically, lyrically, visually, style wise…and is bored with the same thing. He doesn’t have the catalog Prince does yet, but as an empresario I see a strong parallel.
@@snakelite61 only problem is labels invest into the artist alot of money so they will get there money back from the artist which will end up with the label telling him what music to make because labels are stuck in the mindset they always have been in and he won't own his masters there's alot he can be huge but it will just have to be by people sharing which I think is better builds a better fan artist bond.

I am glad that Ren is going to stick with being his eclectic self and move from style to style. This current window of proving he can rap rap and it isn't just some gimmick is important to him and I do look forward to how he goes about presenting this latest music in a more performative setting (and I am not foolish enough to limit him to "concert environment" because who knows what he is going to dream up). But I also look forward to his going back to the guitar and singing for a stretch and whatever one-offs he can come up with (including the various varities within the hip-hop segment, the duets, and BardCore). Hopefully he hurries up with it all because I am impatient.

Where ren differs from so many new artists ive heard is he is a scholar of music. Not just hip hop but music. Lyrically he mentions lenard cohen here. Rage against the machine is mentioned in one song. He covers so many others as well. Dont short change him by thinking this guy is just a genius. He has obviously worked hard to hine his craft. It is amazing. Musically this is the culmination of most music combined into a futuristic blend of the best of everything. And it comes from a dude called Ren. Its freaking mind blowing.

Where ren differs from so many new artists ive heard is he is a scholar of music. Not just hip hop but music. Lyrically he mentions lenard cohen here. Rage against the machine is mentioned in one song. He covers so many others as well. Dont short change him by thinking this guy is just a genius. He has obviously worked hard to hine his craft. It is amazing. Musically this is the culmination of most music combined into a futuristic blend of the best of everything. And it comes from a dude called Ren. Its freaking mind blowing.
