    One of the craziest parts about Harrisons story, is that someone calculated how much air was in that pocket, and they estimated it would be enough for a human to survive approximately 60 hours in... almost exactly at the point that they located him. So not only was he freezing, starving, dehydrated, and possibly hallucinating he was on the brink of death from CO2 not to mention the immense fear and trauma in that situation.

      I truly understand the hate for the ocean and it's deep, inky black depths. An unfathomable and vast abyss where "nightmares" swim. The mysterious nature, the lack of control one feels while swimming below intense pressures the soft, supple human body can hardly handle. The fact that your vision is obscured and your imagination takes hold, also adds to its intensity. Many who have been lost at sea have never been found. Terrifying can be perceived as an understatement.

      @rykersmimi 3 роки тому +10

      abbey lunden it is really scary!! I went on just a little cruise from Florida to the Bahamas it was only 6 hours but it turned into the longest 6 hours on my life!! The waves were enormous and the boat kept rocking from side to side. I had been drinking before we set sail and had fallen asleep in a lounge chair by the pool. Next thing I know I’m being thrown from my chair by the boat rocking so hard and water, ocean water not pool water, hitting me in the face! I had to crawl to an interior door to get actually inside the ship to “safety”. They had us all in the dining room sitting along the walls and I was literally watching tables and chairs slide/fly from one side of the room to the other side! When we finally docked I the Bahamas I was frozen in fear and had to be carried by my husband and 1 of our friends off the ship. We even extended our vacation by 4 days because I was so terrified of getting back on that cruise ship. My husband had to eventually buy us plane tickets to fly back to the states because there was no way I was stepping foot back onto any ship ever again. To this day I still wake up with nightmares about that cruise ship! I’m like you and WILL NEVER AGAIN TAKE A CRUISE! I don’t care how short or long the trip is, I’m not getting onto another ship! I don’t even go out on our boat anymore and that is only on a little lake...the fear never goes away. Drowning is by far the worst way to go imo and try acts only because I have actually been in the situation to drown. Anyway, I’m sorry you had to experience something so traumatic and life changing. Much love & respect to you 💜

      @abbey lunden @Rykers Mimi that sounds horrifying. My sister told me how they were at dinner on her cruise and she looked down at her glass on the table and the water inside of it was tilted because of the ship. That was enough for me. Add in stories like this and it's just a no all around. Every now and then when I talk with my mom and sister about going on a girls trip, my mom will bring up how great it would be if we went on a cruise. Hard no. I'll take a plane, zipline, white water raft, sky dive, go on all the rollercoasters, I'll try just about anything once. But this is the line. We can stay in sight of shore but venturing out into the deep where nature can decide to send a massive wall of water that's able to topple pretty much anything in its way leaving you stranded and helpless is my boundary.

I know if I randomly came across that sad story on the internet before I heard it from you, it wouldn’t have had the profound impact it had on me after hearing it from you. You also gave other details that led up to her jumping, like how scared she was and when she stood at the edge she had tunnel vision and she just wanted to do it and get it over with so she jumped without thinking and you made it sound like it wasn’t anything stupid that she did and I felt like you knew her and I know you felt so sad for her and her bf. I used to watch several channels but I’m hooked on yours! Keep up the great story telling, you’re are an amazing person, you definitely have a talent, you know people really well and what thoughts they might be having.

      There are something's when someone experiences there isn't a way to heal it. Try to get on with life ya. Take the Marines for example. Smallest branch by far averaging 200,000 at any given time. But do some of the fierciest fighting and have to go places first others don't. They can be deployed for 6 months without Congress declaring war. They have the highest suicide rate of all the other branches combined numbers. The brain literally rewires itself to survive and deal with the trauma. If you've ever been in the military or even prison you'll know your surprised at how you can live while you have to. You can come back from both a straight primal animal. Ive seen some truly horrible things people can't imagine. Like New Orleans streets during Mardi gras and seen machine guns open fire into them. So packed people can't move up and down the street barely. No one tells you of the 1.5 million Iraqis civilians we killed. In the first 72 hours of the invasion we went through 100,000 .50 machine gun rounds. And in the first year over 100,000 civilians had been killed. You only have a split second to decide to pull that trigger or not. And I'd rather do it and be a mistake then not do it and have another of my men go home in a box because I hesitated going house to house day after day and you know the people in the streets know but won't help. Because Everytime a major ambush would happen no kids would be in the street houses and shops would be empty and you knew a ied and machine guns and RPGs are about to kick off to the point your just ready for them to start shooting at you. Whatever the survival experience, as long as you remember it you'll never fully be healed always will have triggers and ticks but you can get to a point you can manage. If you didn't have the memory of the event it wouldn't make you into the survivor these people are today. Good can come from some of the most horrific acts. That's why for some traumatic experiences the brain blocks out what really happened and you may remember just bits and pieces of it. Your brain trys to protect you. whether on the ocean a mountain a desert, jungle, war whatever you do whatever it takes to survive

    This reminds me of when I read “unbroken” that story was insane. Crashes his bomber, almost drowns, lives on a raft for 47 days with nearly nothing to eat, actually started trying to catch the sharks that would not stop circling the boat to eat and succeeded, shot off a flare hoping a plane would see them ( turns out it was a Japanese plane) the Japanese start firing at them with machine guns, he has to jump into the water and fight a shark, has to then get back on the raft and try to repair it, finally reach an island, the island is controlled by the Japanese, he becomes a POW and gets sent to a camp, is forced to deal with an extremely brutal man, is beaten and starved and forced into labor, the atomic bomb is dropped, Japan surrenders, miraculously the pows in his camp were not executed, they then have to wait for help, it finally comes, he has horrible ptsd that he would take years to recover from.
