To the people who are saying "BUT THAT GPU IS BOTTLE-NECKED BY THE CPU... SUCH A WASTE..."
Yes, of course it is. But consider that this is the real world and someone's got to pay for these upgrades. If we replace the CPU, we also have to change the RAM and Mobo, because 4th gen is a dead-end. And we'll still need a new GPU and SSD. So suddenly the customer has to pay £400-500+ for CPU, RAM, Mobo, GPU, SSD.
Instead we went for an SSD and GPU, which despite being bottle-necked, will provide a speed boost right away for £200-250, and in the future when the rest of the PC is upgraded, they can be used with those upgrades to further unlock their potential.
I specced these upgrades based on what the customer was able to afford at the time, with mind that more upgrades should be done in the future.

true, upgrading a pc is not the same as building a new system. last year I upgraded my old A10-5800K with a new Ryzen 5 2600 which meant that I had to upgrade the motherboard and RAM as well, since the A10 uses FM2 socket and it was still DDR3. boi was it an expensive upgrade.

Hiya, I used to work for Chillblast back when Yogscast was popular and I can confirm that the zip tie was on there for shipping purposes as we had a number of machines returned due to the fan falling off in shipping
I might have been the one who build the original machine and applied the vinyl wrap as there was only me and one other guy building the Yogscast machines
Love watching the videos very relaxing to watch

I went on the current "Official Yogscast Gaming PCs" page on the Chillblast website, and looking at the three tiers iI'm guessing it was similar with these old ones, and this would have been the "Lite" / low end one I'm guessing...? I also found a taller version of this old one on Google Images. The new ones seem to be higher specced *for* the tier *for* them being 7 years newer though...?
      Even the LITE has:
      Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
      Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB
      Storage: 250GB SSD / 1TB Seagate HDD
      Operating System: Windows 10 Home
The CPU and RAM and storage I can kind-of understand, but a 1660 Super on the lowest tier...? I would've thought that would be a 1650, as that would match up with the 750 here...?

Startup items in Task Scheduler will not show up in Task Manager, there may be programs in the Startup folder / registry or whatever that don't show up in Task Manager and vice versa. Okay, some of these locations will show up, but you get the idea. There may be a startup program that doesn't show up in task manager, and you have to dig the registry, startup folders and other places for it.

I used to work at an Internet Cafe and we would just re-load the images from all of our PCs one every two months. With the clean system images created by Ghost recovering our computers was a breeze.

Hi, a tip on the defrag side, I use O&O defrag because it has a really useful feature called reorder & optimize plater.
The reorder will put all the file in sequence on the drive removing all these empty unused blocks and optimize plater moves the whole /Windows/ directory into the first blocks of the disk.
As you can see in your defrag tool, the MFT is slap bang in the middle of the drive. O&O will move this into the first 6 blocks of the drive.

Chrome is running on Chromium but has been google-fied.

If you want to customise and get deep into the browser and know what you're doing then you can use Chromium,

Just nah, i always have my pc on the floor so im not really space sensitive so i use full atx case, corsair 780T which is damn awesome, and its so nice to work on, so much space, can fit any component on the market, totally worth it imo. I'm sure you have seen this by now, but msconfig is a built in way to disable startup items but allow them to be turned back on if needed. Also, autoruns by Mark Russinovich is great for evaluating all startup entry points for software in Windows. And the rest of the SysInternals suite is full of handy I.T. tools.

He has answered in the comments, TaskManager + MSconfig only disable, and after windows updates for example they get re-enabled = potentially useless effort/short term result. Registry deletes the entries effectively so the job really is done. For example Windows 10 has annoyed me after updating, by re-enabling my privacy settings that I had to manually disable one-at-a-time again and again.

11:48 What you can do is split the PWM pin of that fan header to multiple fans (Works better while using fans of the same model) while connecting the fans to a different source of power (E.g. Directly to the PSU).
    >DO NOT SPLIT THE TACH PIN/ONLY PLUG THE TACH PIN TO ONE FAN< (usually the first fan on the chain). Leave the secondary fans without it. Tach is the pin that lets the fan controller know the fan speed.
Due to manufacturing tolerances not even fans of the same model run exactly at the same speed for a giving PWM signal. If the controller receives multiple mixed speed signals it might run the fans at full speed, keep ramping it up and down, not turn them on or burn them down (not sure about the last one but better to keep it in mind to be safe).
This is similar to what many GPUs with 2 or more fans do. If you look at their fan wiring you will notice that the first fan is connected to 4 wires (Gound, 12v, tach, PWM) while the secondary ones are connected to 3 wires leaving the Tach out.
PWM fans deal with power by themselves using the PWM signal as a guide. The only reason you SHOULD NOT split the 12v and ground directly from the motherboard fan header to the secondary fans is to not current overload the fan header.

A reasonable 1TB SSD is what, £90 to £120 and as you say it can migrate to a new build later. It would give him far more system space as I can see that getting cluttered again PDQ given the state it was already in. Personally I would have upgraded MB, CPU and ram but that's entirely up to the customer. However I consider, in this guys case, a 1TB essential .

I'm aware this is an "old" video, BUUUT, regarding the monitor connection: all graphics cards have HDMI output, and only this year (while hearing lots of people not having money for new monitors after spending it to get a new gaming graphics card) I found that there are also cheap adapters for HDMI to DVI input. With these 4-5$ monitor-adapters (not graphic-cards) everyone I know that bought a new gaming graphics-card, no longer with VGA/DVI on them but all with HDMI, I asked them to buy HDMI cables if they didn't already have any for their tv's/consoles, that's 3$, and plug the cable in their cards + the adapter in their monitor, works flawlessly. Fortunately I finally no longer know anyone with VGA monitors, all have either VGA+DVI or DVI. I don't think I can source cheap HDMI-VGA adapters in my country, I only found at 14$ and that's absurd. And people get to keep their monitor that they like and was probably also an expensive investment a while ago.

When I want to clone a drive to an SSD, my preferred technique is to use dd to clone the drive to a file (I always double and triple check what I'm doing, don't do this unless you know what you're doing) then use GParted to resize the partitions and move any partitions at the end of the drive as far towards the beginning as possible such that all partitions fit within the space available on the SSD.
I then clone the drive to another file, and then write that file to the SSD, and once that's finished, I'll use fdisk/gdisk to verify that the partitions are valid and fix any issues with the partition table not matching the drive capacity, and then test boot the SSD in the destination PC and let it run chkdsk.
If the clone works, I then run GParted on the destination PC and resize/move the partitions to fill the SSD.
This sounds complicated, and it has its risks (dd is known as data destroyer for a reason) but because every other program and method I've ever used has been utter trash and rarely worked, I switched to this method a while ago and had zero issues since.
Chrome is based on Chromium, which is the open source web browser without Google's tracking crap crammed into it, I wouldn't just uninstall a users web browser willy-nilly, I'll always verify that the user doesn't use or need it before removing it.

autostart should *not* be in *advanced* , that's ridiculous... but then again it's Spotify, where every track is a "song" (even if it has no singing in it), different artists with the same name are under the same "artist", the track naming is stupid: *Title - Main Version* or *Title - Original Mix* and *then* the artist to the right or in smaller font, because apparently *Artist - Title* would be too difficult, etc etc

19:14 Another solution is to use a software that can resize the partition without losing date. There are many that can do it and you can also find some free ones. (E.g. DiskGenius, MiniTool Partition Wizard, EaseUS Partition Manager...)
After resizing the partition to a size that can fit inside the SSD you can clone it.
To keep it safe make a backup of the HDD before doing the resize.

I need to test some of those. The software I use for imaging is terribly out of date, but better the devil you know, right?

Anyway, I just want to confirm Vitor's comment: resizing the C partition on the HDD before cloning is a golden rule on Cloning, otherwise you'll have the worst possible time... If you did not use Acronis before and have some time, you can try the Pirate version first to see how it works and suits your needs. It has also a boot-disk .ISO to run off a stick, I usually just stick both drives in my stronk and fast gaming-PC. Obviously if you have the client PC turned on, running windows of the HDD, and cloning the HDD, cloning is going to work at a range from snail-speed to infinite-loop...

People will state that SSD is "the way to go." But for me, the price of two 4TB hard drives are still less than one 2TB SSD.

For space problems in a case with sata drives you could use a 90 degree sata cable, also upgrading from a spin drive to a ssd there is a whole check list you need to do to effectivly utilise the ssd. Also if u managed to do a disk cleanup before migrating you would remove atleast 15gb

Yup, even i7 2600K at 4.2 GHz OC and 1.35v still is unexpectedly good at everything! If these chips were 6 core 12 threads, there would have been no reason to replace them even now 10 years later. I'm aware cheap second-hand HEDT and Xeons exist but it's difficult to find working+reliable+cheap motherboards for them. That being said, still cannot retire these overperforming i7 CPUs as they are still better than any 100$ CPU and second-hand 4-8 GB sticks of DDR3 is cheap and easy to find.

That would be the Node 304 www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/node/node-304/black/ Its frustrating to see they didn't bother to clean the dust filters, the front intake specifically needs doing weekly as its very effective at blocking dust.
I have the normal white version of that case and was actually running an RTX 2080 and 9900K in it with a Noctua NH-D15s. It was a VERY tight fit with all the drive cages removed (improves airflow quite a bit even without any drives installed), really noisy at full load as its frustratingly hobbled by the front intake fans being so small, even swapping for Noctuas couldn't make up the difference. If they redesigned the case for at least a 120mm I think it would have made a huge difference.
I only recently re-built everything into a BeQuiet Pure Base 500DX in anticipation of getting an RTX 3000 series card and not having to use a noisy blower cooler.
