It's probably an effect of the War on Terror. The US and other Western powers have been more-or-less continuously deploying military assets of some sort or another into the Middle East, famously almost nothing but desert (and occasional mountains) for the past 20 years. An entire generation has grown up knowing nothing but the military conflicts in the region.
Could've been Insurgency Sandstorm vibes, sort of Insurgents getting ready as sleeper cells while Security forces increases their presence while hiding it based from acquired intel.
The vibrant spectrum of musical leitmotif of ak never disappoint me, tho dusk event ost is still the best imo but this is damn great, they really should use this type of vibes when entering Columbia arc
The first music feels less like Rainbow Six Siege and more of Insurgency Sandstorm, The kinda 'I'm not a tourist, I live here' vibe as soldiers patrol checkpoints while you see an suspicious individual carry a bag through the streets. Feels like first wave on the second part, they know you're there and they will be damned if they let you live after humiliating them, they're feared and hated for a reason. Sort of mob riot, the loss of control and them fighting to gain it back, the enemy exploited a fine weakness in the security team, either an overseen place or a midst of confusion moment.

@Yap Hee Loong they did appear......only at the very first cutscene when they were storming that scientist lab. After these 4 got teleported to terra we did not see lana and ela anynore
