This is an absolute nightmare set to try to put together in mint condition. I am fortunate enough to have built such a rare example of this set in NM-MT condition in that about 95 per cent of the cards in my binder combine both great centering and smooth edges. My Gretzky RC is perfectly centered and has smooth edges, but a couple of slightly touched corners. My 1980-81 set is outstanding from start to finish.
Looking at the math side of the equation he got ripped off only getting 1 Gretzky in an entire box. Also, that box was worth more sealed than the single Gretzky card. Also, he opens packs like Donkey Kong.
Gloves next time! For such an iconic card search and actual find, you think this person would have taken better care of things. Also throwing the cards down? Come on. Show some respect to a vintage year of hockey cards. Great vid though!
All the packs he checked when you started filming, had 14 cards, which is what those packs had... the last pack,, there is only 6 cards in the pack and Gretzky is the 6th and last card... sorry man, this was staged, thats why the last pack only had 6 cards.... they set it up like that
@@dynamo45 As you can see, he'd already opened the packs when we arrived and had already been through most of them. It's entirely possible he'd already seen the Gretzky and the last pack may have consisted cards he was intending to grade or had set aside for another reason. He may have been thumbing through the opened packs to make sure he hadn't missed anything. But it WAS a freshly opened box and the Gretzky was inside. He turned it over to PSA for grading. The video wasn't "staged" for an audience because there was no audience... other than another person who walked up while we were shooting and a woman from PSA who was helping him (the video was shot at their booth--about ten feet from a bathroom in the far back corner of the hall LOL). No elaborate production or ruse here--just a 3 minute video from the 2019 National.
Not staged - watch closely - he stops looking at the cards once he sees the Gretzky - he sets the remaining stack on the table, but there are clearly cards underneath.
Very unprofessional.... small working area, messy and crowed table, finishing last pack with 6 cards?? What are you trying to proof?? You think we're all dumb or something?? What a wasted 2 mins watch this.
The way this guy opens packs is...painful.
The way this guy was tossing around these packs had me sweatin bullets
All of those cards are going into the dollar box except for that one PSA 5 Gretzky.
Last pack magic
One Gretzky. BRUTAL
Something funny going on here. The LAST card in the LAST pack...come on.
JRS
just think 40 to 60 grand a box, to get a 5thou gretzky.these are the things rich people do.
Or people who have more money than they have brains.
He did not pay 40K for that box
I would gladly take the rest of the commons. They probably threw them out.
Probably threw away the Gretzky too, “doesn’t seem like it will get a good grading, oh well” *tosses away

hmmm...reseal the packs and resell...does that happen a lot?
sure. i do it all the time :)
That box was worth WAY more sealed but hey to each their own.
The last pack looks pretty light. The very last pack only has 6 cards. Good1!
only 6 cards in the last pack,ya sure
there are more cards behind it dipshit
Lets open a $200,000 1979 OPC hockey box to find a $6000 Wayne Gretzky rookie card. Who's with me!?
How much did he pay for the box is the question. The ggretzky prob only worth $5000
What if you got so excited at your Gretzky pull that your grip intensified and turned your Gretzky PSA 10 into wrinkly crumpled PSA 1?
His Gretzky isn't even a PSA 10, the centering was way off.
That awful feeling when someone gets down to the last pack as their last hope.
You should get 2 or 3 in a box
How much was the BOX ? 1 - Wayne - You get 3 Jordan's in a Box...Wow
a box of these go for around 40 to 60 grand.at auction
What grade did this card get ?
Odds of pulling a Gretzky RC card from a sealed box is only 61 %
no its 100% lol 1 in 27 packs
Where was the gum?

How much is that box?
Epic! Congrats!!!
Only one Gretzky in the box?
What’s the pop count for a PSA 10 original?
2. Last sale was 3.75 mil
A case just sold for 5 million Canadian dollars
😱 oh, my!! Congratulation on a BIG hit!! The last pack mojo!!
On the bus sir. New to your channel.
I am more careful opening a $5 pack.
Was that the last card from the last pack? Holy crap!
It's set up
Dude his reaction was not even happy he was just like wow I got Wayne Gretzky card
Just a boring rich man
Well I mean it was last pack and man probably spent so much he was probably relieved that he pulled it
It's called bad acting.
The centering is terrible on that card. Probably a $1000 card if that.
psa 3
All that, staged or not, the Gretzky was a PSA 6 OC for sure.
bad centering
what a pity to see you work those cards ...
Crazy
Wait... did he not pull two in this opening!? Look at 0:33

You don’t need gloves for paper faced cards.
Well this was super staged....all the packs had 14 cards except the last pack only has 6, and Gretz just happens to be the last one...lol
Not staged, Don. We literally walked past this guy, saw what he was doing and started shooting.

oh... my... *speechless*
Bullshit
50k a box and you might pull a horrible looking gretzky. much smarter to just buy a graded one. not much else to shout about in this set
always smarter on any set I've seen. This is a sucker's game
Wtf. Crazy.
