One has to admit, Kids in the Hall had probably THE BEST theme song of any sketch comedy series IN EXISTENCE! It's immediately recognizable. Not boring or redundant to this day! The guitar riffs and other instrumentals are perfect. The nearest comparison I can think of theme music-wise is the original recording of the James Bond theme (with the classic electric guitar twangs) used in "Dr. No." The two tracks are perfect as they are. When you get the music and recording SO RIGHT that one time, it has to be hell to try to replicate perfection again and again!
There are few things I love as much as when comedians who have worked with Lorne Michaels do a bit of a Lorne Michaels impression in passing while talking about some interaction they had with him.
One of the coolest things about attending a live taping of Kids in the Hall (I remember it was the second to final taping) was getting to see Shadowy Men play live. Sketch comedy plus seeing one of my favourite bands live.
Having an Average Weekend is the 90s to me. When I hear it I'm magically transported to my clubbing days and fun times with my friends from 'the wrong side of the tracks'.
How does this not have more likes!? More views!? How did I not know Bruce had a youtube channel? Drunk energy aside, have to share this with my friends....and probably go to bed....🍻
I live in Santa Fé, Argentina and I few days ago I talked with my girlfriend about that 25 years ago I saw in I-Sat channel this show and I Love this great song. this intro in the show was awesome because involved some indescriptible emotions. ❤
I remember being a teen in the early 90s, discovering KITH and SMoASP simultaneously, quickly becoming obsessed with both, and my love has endured to this day. I play guitar (Gretsch, natch), and Brian Connelly's tone is my gold standard. Just the other day my band (mostly me) was talking about throwing "Having an Average Weekend" into our set list.
The KITH came on HBO during my first year of college. These guys have always been my fuckin heroes. But Bruce was always my favorite Kid in the Hall. Whenever a sketch poked fun at cringe hipsterism-or conversely, got all hipster itself by going all arthouse and Kafkaesque-you knew it was a Bruce. Hell, I even liked the sausages sketch/short film
It was so hard when I was a teen to track down an album by SMoaSP- but I finally did, and wore the tape out. My friends and I would use it as a soundtrack for our hangouts- it was perfect. Dim the Lights and Chill the Ham.
This is awesome sauce, Brucio got inspired to move to Toronto via the Shadowy Men anD I got inspired (and fell in love with) Canada in general through watching K.I.T.H!!! 🤩
Shadowy Men From A Shadowy Planet... Oh, Thank you Bruce... The strong memories of fun growing up in Alberta/Saskatchewan. Their first album Savvy Show Stoppers with Good Cop, Bad Cop opening song cemented them. That album is in my Pantheon. I saw them live at University Of Regina in 1990. Let's just say it was a "Trippy" night. I'm glad to have seen them live back then. Cool.
ya shadowed the shadowy men to Toronto!! Such a unique band and thanks to you I was turned onto them many a year ago in my teen years while watching the show. I was always super into music and once hearing that intro song to the show. I had to know more. Pop Punk band Chixdiggit also from Calgary and in the 90's ( 96 ) also have a song called shadowy bangers from a shadowy duplex as a clear homage to them. :P
So glad we get more Brucio! I always wanted to ask him about the "My Horrible Secret" sketch. It's so wonderfully weird it really shaped my comedy perspective as a kid.
These Shadowy dudes are COOL , but "most recognizable theme song ever" ? That's GOT to be Batman , or even James Bond ... don't gush : it's So unbecoming 🧐
Bruce, one of the things I admire so much about you is your ability to "keep with it" especially as a comedian. You get why the world is changing and you're with the progress. When you were young and as you got older, how did you keep yourself adaptable and compassionate? How do you keep the bitterness away? I'm 24 and idgaf how I age physically, but if I can mentally age as gracefully as you have I'll be happy with myself.
I love all these videos. I cant wait to get prime to watch the new season. There seems to be two (possibly three) versions of this song; can you confirm or not if the tv theme was recorded from a different session than the album version?
These are amazing Bruce! If you can: Please talk about the skit where you show up to work despite being let go. It was S4e11 - it had You, Dave and Mark. I was let go from my last job right before season 6 dropped and couldn't help but think of this one. Thank you (and the rest of the Kids!) for doing what you do.
Dear Bruce, When I saw you on UA-cam the other day, boy you sure were small. I mean, I knew you weren't huge, but I never thought you'd be smaller than me. Can you explain? Gary Coates - Age 10
Funny... I just realized -- Bruce ISN'T a superhero. He's not Peter Parker, and he's certainly no Clark Kent! He's even more tortured than that more famous Bruce, Bruce Wayne! He's a Marvel super-villain -- -- one of those tragic mad scientist types, burned by fire, poisoned by radiation, or permanently maimed in an explosion. He's like Doc Ock, doomed to NEVER see the world like the mundane (average guy) ever again! ... ... PS -- Tis better to be compared to Alfred Molina than Alfred E. Neuman!

Shadowy Men ON a Shadowy Planet - Shadowy Men FROM a Shadowy Planet - Shadowy Men IN a Shadowy Planet - Which is it?! Pick ONE Bruce!!
Yes my music nerdism took over there too. 🤪
Bruce, your the best,my bro❤
I love how absolutely every single person who’s worked with Lorne Michaels, does a Lorne Michaels impression.
I remember being a teen in the early 90s, discovering KITH and SMoASP simultaneously, quickly becoming obsessed with both, and my love has endured to this day. That is such a groovy band.
The ginchiest. Cat's playing a Gretch with Filtertrons.

He can't be an old man.. he's perpetually 23 in my head!

So very cool!
Be curious to hear you speak about Paul Bellini on KITH

Wow its really bruce, hes literally my favorite kid in the hall. Well, top 10 at the very least.

I'd call that fate. Thank you, Bruce!
I was wondering why this popped up after listening to Bennett Cerf haha. That or Egypt Texas would have been awesome
Hahaa! Lorne Michaels has no idea what he’s talking about with that ‘strip club music’ comment. Strip club in 1964, is that what he meant? 😂

That's Maurice Lawerence from high school.

I will make it my mission to spread the word about your channel as a return favor for helping me get through college in the 90’s.
thanks foe that. huge fan of the band

How was writing for SNL? Do you have any favorite sketches that made it to air?
That is the weirdest Kennedy bust I've EVER SEEN‼️ It looks like a 'PEZ' Dispenser⁉️ 🤔😮😂
Premise Beach!
I want to know all about the guy who knows what bowling is, please.
“But this vacuum.”
“Alright.”
I must know this gentleman’s backstory.

What’s the story behind “the night I connected with my dog”?
Does everyone have a Lorne Michaels impression?
When did Brucio turn into Michael J Fox??
Dear Bruce,
