I'm so happy that you found a family to take care of the dogs while you sail on and you didn't have to actually "give up" the dogs. What a blessing for you and them.
They will be sad for a little bit as they will miss you, but when you get back they will b so excited to see y’all!! Good job Collin! What a wonderful life you chose! ❤❤

Ended up here after seeing Colin on Below Deck. This is an amazing trip and a lovely video to watch with a morning coffee. Greetings and best wishes from the UK!
Great episode as always! It was heart-warming to see your childhood friends join the crew on this important milestone and stretch to New Zealand - and that they have followed your journey and how proud they are of what you have accomplished. You are a true inspiration! ❤
You guys are very brave I have been around boats all my life and have motored around the San Juan Islands in gale force winds and seas, but would never venture out into the middle of the pacific( to chicken) I will just live the adventure following you guys, stay safe cheers guys:)
Must have been so hard giving up the pups for 6 months.. People who dont own dogs wont understand its like saying goodbye to your family.. They bring so much happiness and joy. Im glad they're gonna have a good home and lots of room to run around. Another great video, let the journey continue!
❤ great video, I'm learning so much from your videos, that marlin was awesome, the crew seems great and Colin is a bloody good skipper! I've got to do this one day!

Hello Colin, I am mostly motor boat person but watching you guys (you, Jemmie and rest) and your vlogs from the beginning. You are so skilled, hardworking guy. And your love for your dogs overwhelms me. I am 62 yo, I lost my German Sheppard (14 yo) almost 2 years ago and still I missing him a lot. I know what you feel by leaving them, they are not dogs, they are part of the family. I look forward the episode when you reunite (or maybe you already did, as those episodes are time delayed). Another great episode. I wouldn't listen people's comments about dogs as this is your life and your family to see. Loved your lobster hunt😊. Be safe out there. Looking forward to next episode.
I hope both Lindo and Mcfly have the best time on Tonga. It is sad that they couldn't stay with you. It sucks that certain breeds have a bad reputation. I've been around pitties my whole life, giving them love, and they will give it back 10 fold. Have a blast at Minerva Reef, and safe sailing past Fiji and the cyclone you've mentioned. Great channel! I've done this passage to New Zealand 16 times, a couple of times from Tonga mostly from Fiji and Vanuatu but I've never stopped at McNervous reef! It's an appropriate name for Minerva reef, as this passage can be the most challenging for people crossing the Pacific and folks will stop there fretting the notorious open ocean passage to come. Sometimes better to just tackle it in one go! on a slowish boat one Gale is almost guaranteed!

Awesome to see Minerva Reef. We missed out on visiting Minerva years ago when we broached the boat in 55 knots of breeze & did some major damage to our steering. On the passage back to Auckland the weather was too rough, so you guys were really lucky. I hope your circumnavigation of NZ is going well?👍
I’m showing my age a bit here but it was 1992 on the Gulf Harbour to Nuku’alofa cruising regatta. Our little Farr 1220 was flying, we reeled off 400nm in the first 48 hours which wasn’t bad with a couple of reefs in the main & a number 3 headsail. We were surfing the boat at 17 knots plus, so it was great sailing! I’m really enjoying your voyage to NZ, as it brings back great memories. I live in Red Beach so who knows I may even see Parlay go past on its NZ circumnavigation 👍👍
Hey mate, thoroughly enjoying your channel. Just 1 thing about the Weetbix...try it with Vegemite and peanut butter. When you are in far North Queensland you and your crew are welcome for a proper South African BBQ (braai) . Cheers mate and crew, may the winds be kind.
Colin I know it’s tough leaving the pups and some people may think we shouldn’t be so emotional about our dogs. To them, I feel sorry because they don’t know the joy of unconditional love. At least you’ll be back in 6 mos and you’ll have a great reunion.
Sorry you had to endure comments questioning your approach re: dogs etc.. I appreciate that you are sharing your story with us via YT. I would never be presumptuous to believe I could offer anything other than appreciation for your efforts and genuine view on the world. Keep up the good work and shed off those negative comments.
Been following since the beginning, and we sailed on one of those Hurricane damaged Lagoons that we chartered for a week in BVI’s shortly after the charter industry reopened from the same marina you bought yours at. Amazing work you’ve done on that boat, but not sure I wouldn’t have thrown in the towel and bought another brand. On the Pitbulls, your a wonderful dog owner and obviously have trained both your dogs extremely well. However here in the US there are a whole lot of dog owners who refuse to put the time in on training. And as we learned from our veterinary clinic here after our dog was attacked by a American Pitbull that was off leash in a leashed walk area, pitbulls have amazing jaws that lock in and hold when they attack. They can be fantastic dogs when properly trained. But so many buy them without the patience, skill or time. They buy them because they are threatening, tough and intimidating. And that’s the owners fault. And while there are other breads that are also dangerous, it seems pitbulls have become the attraction for many unfit owners in our country. By the way, our dog that weighs 70lbs was almost immediately killed by this attack in a public area where pets are required to be leashed. The individual had 3 pitbulls all running wild.
That's so sad, I can't imagine how horrible an experience that would be, I feel so sad for you. Even worse if that was your son or daughter. How would you contain that? You are right that these dogs are, like any living being, capable of being the most lovely and loving creatures, just like us humans. Compared to any Pitbull dog, humans are way more dangerous and those ones deserve being banned more than any dog does, but it's just not that simple. It's a wonder that with all our amazing intelligence many of us just use it to be more despicable and uncaring... :(
I'm so happy that you found a family to take care of the dogs while you sail on and you didn't have to actually "give up" the dogs. What a blessing for you and them.
We’ll be back to pick them up before we know it 😊

Kia Ora! Good on you and your mates! Semper Fidelis...
